It's been over a year since I played JA2 in any form, can't seem to shake the itch for it.

Decided to try Wildfire 6.06 on expert, using only H&K weapons for my mercs and it's working out quite well so far. I've separated my mercs into different 'classes' so to speak: sniper, shooter and lockpicking/explosives mercs.

Snipers have the MSG90A1 with a silenced MP5/40A1 with match ammo (and a couple AET mags spare).

Shooters and lockpicking ones have a G36 and the same silenced MP5/40A3 with match ammo (AET is carried spare).

I'm trying to keep my encounters to night-only as much as possible too.

Any suggestions or recommendations on the loadouts? Smile

Shadow and Magic are just too damn cool to ignore Razz

Was thinking of switching the G36s for the 417 or the G3A3 since the ammo can be shared between the snipers as well.

Next game I'll try for all FN weapons Razz

Hi cr0bar, I just checked the G36C is (probably) the gun with the fastest built in burst (2 rounds only) which allows for a Rifle LAM-Flashlight with an Accuracy of 5.

The only gun that has the same burst AP (with a trigger group though) and allows a Rifle LAM-Flashlight attachment is the Colt M4 Commando, but it only has an Accuracy of 3, and it uses up one more attachment slot for the trigger group.

I put 5.56 match in my G36C, give it a reflex sight, battle scope, Rifle LAM-Flashlight, and a foregrip; it works great for close combat.

By the way other guns which don't need a trigger group and allow a Rifle LAM-Flashlight are RPK-74, Colt M16A4, HK G41A2, HK 53A3, HK MG36 RAS, and Ares M4 Shrike I believe, could be missing something though.

I believe an R&S will yield better results than a foregrip on the G36c Wink

Thanks for this list! Smile

However I'm pretty damn sure that the 'Shrike' doesn't allow three-round bursts per default.

Also I thought all the G36 RAS variants could have the Rifle LAM-Flashlight. As well as the SL8 RAS Wink

My lack of playing 1.13 for some time shows once more - what is the best attachment for a pistol/smg/AR/SR for mainly night duty? I've been using the Insight LAM-200 for all my weapons.

Also the laser sight is the one to use in daytime, right?

You can use the LAM-200 for both day- and nighttime use.

For anything bigger than SMGs you should use those lasers/LAMs that have 'Rifle' in their designation Wink

The non-sucky laser attachments will compensate for nighttime. This would basically be the Insight and the Rifle LAM-Flashlight (maybe the regular Rifle LAM, don't remember for sure).

Back on topic, I'd recommend the 417 because I love 7.62 NATO as far as ARs go. I don't know why, it must just be the considerable stopping power advantage they have over a lot of weapons for other calibers. The PSG1 is another favorite of mine for this reason.

I also can't deny that the MP5 family is probably my favorite set of SMGs (even more so than the P90, even if the P90 is technically "better" in most games). The 10mm with AET ammo would be especially devastating.

You are correct, but what I like about the Ares is that with just one extra "aim click" on full auto the gun spits out 5 rounds already. Other guns like the MG36 need two or more aim clicks on full auto to get the same amount of bullets.

I had extremely good results giving the Ares to a high MRK soldier and using it for securing a flank from enemies who try to circle around you. Someone like e.g. Steroid, who is cheap, has a relatively good MRK, can act as an excellent "roadblock" and keep enemies from sneaking up on you. Don't use a psycho with the Ares on full auto as this will expend most of its ammo.

To mention, the Ares has a drawback, it loses condition quickly, it is not uncommon that I get it to below 90% after clearing 2-3 sectors from an initial 100% condition.

You are correct, there are a total of 52 guns which allow a rifle lam, ten of which don't allow for a burst mode. But only the Colt M4 Commando and the HK G36C have the fastest burst mode, 10 AP total (old 25 system) not counting the ready time of 2 AP.
