lockieInshy , I'm playing with latest d/load v1.11b , when I tried adding your translation exe. , game reverts back to v1.10 . Any actual difference ?
I have a separate install to try the translation !
If you need English translate - do all this:
1. Make clear installation of any official english version of the game.
2. Install http://ja2.su/NOps/ja2NOv1.10EN.exe
3. Reload and install http://www.ja2.su/NOtest/no1p11b.rar it was changed.
4. Run game.
If you haven't English interface check Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced
And set here language for non-Unicode programs = English (USA) and restart computer.
Mod support Dutch,English,French,German,Italian,Polish and of course Russian interfaces, it's set based on game and Windows system language. If mod can't understand wtf installed(like Polish game on German windows) it use Russian interface.
If u still have wrong interface you can rename game_dir\Data\LangRes\English.txt into game_dir\Data\LangRes\default.txt
Important notice:
You can choose how to aim pressing "a" key or use mouse scroll. It's displayed by letter in upper left corner of right hand's slot. Nothing - don't use scope, L use laser sights, C - collimator, O - optical scope and night scope.
Trow RGD-5 or F1 grenade and you see something interesting

Hi,
I tried installing the mod, as described by ja2_su_read_only above. The game is in english now, but all weapon descriptions are still in russian. When I remove the original default.txt in /Data/LangRes/ and rename english.txt to default.txt, the description text becomes unreadable (looks a bit like:

Yo inshy, I did the following, started a new game, and have a couple questions.
Some (could be all) of the single shot sounds I cannot hear. I do single shot and speaker is quiet, no sound. Enemy gets hit and dies normally. I can hear enemy auto fire, but no single shots. What am I missing? I was able to fix the sounds for single shot by using NightOps1_10.rar instead of using ja2NOv1.10EN.exe, however a lot of item text is still in Russian, not just the descriptions, but the short item name.
All important text in the game is English but still a lot of text is in strange characters, something like "AA.AIYAE" is displayed for pistol item on floor. I have XP and checked language setting and copied English over Default like you said. Is anything else I can do?

Uhm, I only have Gold, which is 1.12 as far as I know, or are you talking about something different, like the EXE you use to start NO? If so, that EXE can be anything, as long as it works on top of 1.12 / Vanilla.
I got the single shot sounds to work by using NightOps1_10.rar *not* the recommended (in this thread) ja2NOv1.10EN.exe, which looks like has no single shot sounds. While we are talking about sounds, do yours sound like laser guns? My pistols sound awesome, like planet destroyers, hihi!
