Deidranna Lives!-1.13 v4.48 Release Candidate 1 20140420

Tested with: SCI_Unstable_Revision_7141_on_GameDir_2007

A clean install of at least the above SCI is needed due to the many changes between v4.47 and v4.48 (over half a year of time has elapsed. By clean install, this means no legacy Data-DL113, Data-Graphics, or past save games.

Core mod is broadly similar with other Release Candidates (AFS and UC-1.13) released today.See:

@Jagged_ID: Here it is, just download and extract the 7z-package in your JA2 installation directory. After that, you should have a folder called "Data-DL" in your JA2 root directory.
Then you have to install the 1.13-DL version.

Aside from v4.48 Core mod changes, I've also removed some of the map placement XML's, it looks like the (unstable) Rev.7141 JA2.exe is reading map placements from the original DL maps reliably. Still need a few for some item differences.


Plans are to have the RC's links posted to the main release posts after a few days (to allow for any replacements if significant problems are found). This will hold things over while I work on the documentation. Additonally, I want to see if I can actually put the Deidranna Lives! fiction into the in-game encyclopedia.

Is the Taser of any value? Started a new game, and had Barry with his Taser around a corner. A guy walked around the corner and Barry unloaded 3 Taser shots into him, and he didn't drop. Next round, enemy unloaded his weapon on Barry. Should I just get rid of these things, or is there a proper way to use them?

Re-loaded and tried again. This time it worked. Does it require extra aiming to be more effective. Since it was such close range, the first time I just fired without extra aiming clicks. The second time I maxed out the aiming clicks and the guy dropped. 'Course, it was a different enemy so there could be other factors involved.

As for bug reports, I hired Rev from MERC and said *not* to pay for the gear, but he still came with an HK MP5SD5 (though no other gear) with a partial ammo clip and a laser pointer. When I removed the ammo, it was supposed to be 9mm but turned into a .45 ACP clip.

Also, has anybody else had money spontaneously appear. Rev suddenly found 20,000 in one of his vest pockets. A earlier save shows nothing there but I don't know if I put an item in that pocket that then got converted to 20,000 or if it just appeared there out of nowhere. Should have kept it, but deleted it. Smile

Added to my list of problems, the Angel-Maria quest keeps hanging the game on me. I free Maria and she talks to Angel who is happy and gives me the deed to the shop. However, Angel doesn't leave like they do in the normal game. No matter what you do at that point, the game hangs and won't accept any input and needs to be shut down via Task Manager.

Afraid I can't much help with the specific problem. However, if you're trying to install the original JA2DL mod, you don't really need to run the JA2DL program, you just need the data folder from the resultant install. You can find a link to that in the following post: JA2-DL data folder

Still works having just checked it before posting.

Hi, guys.

Downloaded the latest DL 1.13 SCI and played it for a couple of hours. I was fascinated, and still am, but there were some thoughts in the process.

Actually, first of all I was expecting a few bugs (unstable version, that is), and found one. Or two.

First one is - the game tends to crash when using variable scope in battle. Meaning, when mercs switch the magnification in combat. Out of it - as if Swiss Made.

Second goes for internal attachments. Some of the guns say to have some features already installed and mounted - bipods, scopes and so forth. But. Sometimes, they are just missing. Trying to plant them - nope, only integrated ones fit in this slot. The easiest way to solve it was using the fold-unfold function - all the HK GR2 guns went back to business after it and the scope suddenly appeared. But it turned out harder with Scout Tactical, for example. Has to have integral bipod, yeah. Sometimes it does. But in has no folding function, thus this crude reset can't be done. Not lethal, but still.

I think most if not all items should have transformations to themselves, which should properly create the default attachments.

I found a way to handle your Problem wsmithjr2013:
Go in front of Angels shop. Then took Maria alone into Squad 2 and all other Mercs into Squad 1. Switch to Tactical Screen and let Squad 1 leave the Sektor.

Then talk with Marie to Angel and he will drop the Ownership License on the Floor and they both will leave the town.

I'm getting a CTD on the latest version when I attempt to buy the Striker Vest from the leather good's merchant.

I hand him the money and then get a CTD with the red text of 'NPC does not have required item'. Thinking there might be an inventory issue with the DL files?

I'll check inventories over the next few days as I work on a patch to bring DL-1.13 up to SCI_Unstable_Revision_7393_on_GameDir_2100 standards (SCI from a few days ago). Unfourtunatly merc inventory fixes tend to be save game breaking.

Sorry, if the question was already asked, but there seems to be something wrong with the Crepitus. Soon after Tixa's dungeons, Elliot and Lady D start talking about releasing them. So, Cambria attacks trigger constantly in almost every sector of the city. However, as soon as my mercs descend, the mine and its lowest levels appear to be empty. Nothing in there, except for the loot near the bones. No critter Queen as well, though battle status continues.
I was wondering if this is a bug or something?
I was using SCI 7307 Unstable with DL 1.13 v4.48_20140518.

And one more thing - camp kits and Gabby elixirs seem to malfunction. Using them triggers usual merc exclamation with no other effects and these items do not deplete. Second use triggers "heh?" message and that's where it ends.

Missing Crepitus is a stock JA2 bug, try returning at a different time of day.

I'll have to check camo, but since the item mod has a high degree of commonality with AFS and UC-1.13 a bit surprising there haven't been any more reports.

For moment today, I thought I could get away without any modified maps and just use XML and LUA files. This lead to delays in the preview release. Mod_Settings.XML allowed Deidranna to leave the palace without crashing the game... however she just disappeared from the game leading to it being unfinishable. Also Joe didn't end up in the right map. So we're back to the workaround maps and LUA scripts that have have worked for the last few releases.

See this post in the AFS thread on what to expect in the next v4.50 Preview, and the finished v4.50.

Finally got around to looking in the logs and found that camo kits have been changed recently:

Camo Kits can now only be used to paint naked skin which usually means face and hands. Clothing will take care of the rest Together they can reach 100% camo.
CAMO_KIT_USABLE_AREA = 5 in Ja2_Options.ini sets the area that can be painted.

CAMO_LBE_OVER_VEST_MODIFIER = 0.2
CAMO_LBE_OVER_PANTS_MODIFIER = 0.6
These two set the amount of camo that armor vest/pants can provide if LBE is worn over them.

In testing looks like I am depleting camo kits by 5% on application when legal (ie. the same camo isn't already providing 5% coverage). Until I sort out how armours and LBE provide camo coverage, I may just change CAMO_KIT_USABLE_AREA = 100 so it behaves like old camo kits.

I tried with Patch: v4.50.1 and SCI_Unstable_Revision_7816_on_GameDir_2233 and it doesn't work. Cannot load the game. The clean install JA2 + SCI_Unstable_Revision_7816 works good.

Do you have explanation ?
