I know the selection at Bobby Ray's and Tony's is based on a game rating called coolness, but just curious about a. I know it goes up as you make progress, but can it go down, like say if you get the "hurry up" email from Enrico or make an unsuccessful attack?, and b. my last game I was to the point where Bobby Ray's had gas masks, kevlar vests and helmets, and smoke grenades, AKMs were the best thing Tony had, I had a Dragonauv from a drop but hadn't seen one for sale. So, will Devin ever have "real" grenades? He sold smokers, but nothing damaging(not to mention he always had 10 detonators and nothing to put them on lol). And is there anywhere to buy breaklights? I had a few, but was leary of using them up before I "really needed" them, and that ended up usually being sooner than I thought.

As far as I can tell from reading the code, none of the dealers are influenced by progress drop. They stock items based on the highest progress level achieved so far in the game.

Breaklights, there IS someone selling them, but I can't remember who.

Ooops, Jake is in Estoni. He sells breaklights in rather poor state, like anything he sells you have to repair it before use.

Sam,in Balime, sells brand new breaklights.

Coolness doesn't really work properly in JA2 (two figure number) in the nicer way it works in UB (three figure number) where a "cool" weapon will actually trigger a specific speech line on first contact. (Imp "hmm never had the opportunity to use one of these before" etc). In both JA2 & UB a weapon can become liked by the user (Raven "a fine weapon" etc); & in both JA2 & UB an uncool or misnumbered weapon will trigger complaint "w-t-f is this junk?" speech lines.

That's Deadliness, not Coolness. However I'm pretty sure it doesn't work in JA2, as you said.

HR , couldn't you work on a system whereby a user gets better stats for familiarity and usage ?
The more often a user uses/keeps a certain weapon or item , the quicker and better he gets , perhaps as Shanga pointed out in the 'Fall' game , even names a weapon , his stats improve quicker , and also with an unfamiliar weapon , first shots will be wild . This would tie in with your facilities training mod , if still using the weapon that you trained with ?

This has been discussed several times in the past. The answer, unfortunately, hasn't changed: Familiarity is quite possible, but requires saving a lot of new data into the characters' profiles. Actually, the number of variables would equal the number of weapons in the game. Once that's done, all it takes is to decide how familiarity affects performance, and link that up. So in theory, it's a simple process, but requires a lot of work and would break the savegames entirely.
