What is the current status of multiplayer versions newer than 1.4? What will some of the updates be?

Hi,

Current status of MP 1.5:
- Fixed sync of doors by AI
- Implemented explosives (grenades, tnt, ...), but still some work to do.
- Custom random teams (definied in own XML)
- Fixed wrong sync of turnbars on interrupt
- Some VFS fixes

Hi craigmsandy,

if you can code (C/C++) you can help developing the MP mod. You can always act as a tester and share your test results with us.

Not yet. But probably in the future thnx to the great people working on this :armsfolded:

I got another question:
Is Coop mode the same as the single player campaign (but then in coop) or is it just 1 map you and a friend vs AI?

If it's the same as the single player campaign (how is mine income done? 50%/50%?/ Every player own laptop/ Teams?(example: Normal is 18 merc squad. when playing coop is it 9/9?)

COOP is only one sector. After you finished the sector the game is RESTARTED and you need to hire mercs again and can play another sector.

I think adding voice communication with other players would be a pretty promising feature. Maybe in the next few versions.

There are already fine - almost perfect voip aplications out there that would be used by the majority, even if the team would implement their own in the game. There are more important things to do in my opinion.

Anyway status of 1.5 is looking great! I'm anxiously awaiting getting to blow something up with them bombs and nades.

Ru planning to implement a server browserlist ingame instead of joining by ip ?
This feature would really help the community to find online JA2MP servers easily.

The ability to choose your own team colors and insignia would be cool.

Expansion of scoreboard stats like headshots, explosion kills, tendencies et cetera. The ability to keep stats for a player with levels in a save file. Like in online console games and there achivements(X-Box 360). Certain levels unlock different things in the game. That idea is kind of out there but I can dream right? Plus I think that this would keep people playing, essentially expanding the Multiplayer community.

(I haven't played multiplayer in over a year so sorry if this feature's been implemented already.)

Some fun stuff at the end of a battle would be nice.
Most/Least aggressive/passive/accurate/valuable merc/player. PC gamers seem to love stats so I think this'd fit right in.

It would be nice, if someone would/like to do MP mod about Congo Crisis, or some imagined conflict somewhere. Now the game is full of modern laser sights, ACOGs, modern weapons, etc.
If you want to win, you just have to buy .50 cal sniper with all possible attachments, and arm others with modern rifles with best attachments and best super bullets. It is all about that who hits first.
And armor is everytime something like Spectra etc. -> too much cool modern war stuff.
No more ver. 4 night vision googles, no more extented ears.

Imagine, what would it be without those .50 cal snipers and modern rifles without super ammo.
Besides Spectra armor with ceramic plates, you have only heavy and uncomfortabe flak jacket from '60s.
Besides Spectra helmet with compound 18 etc. you have WWII steel helmet.
Besides anti-material snipers, you have some lowpowered rifle.
Besides XM8 with all goodies, you have FN-FAL, with good luck, ver. 1 nightvision scope.
(Well it is good gun...) No more tactical vests, wich able you to carry ammunition and all other stuff, now, you might have uncomfortable Patt58 webbing.

What do you think?
There is now too more modern stuff, its getting bored to win everyone with same old tactics.
It would be cool to, if you could hire more mercenaries.
Fo course you can play without using Bobby Ray's, but its not same, hope you undersand Smile

Maybe this could be implemented.

[*]Average weapon, average armor, a plethora of choices like: regen boost, canteen, camo kit, et cetera.
[*]Average weapon, superior armor, a couple of choices like: regen boost, canteen, camo kit, et cetera.
[*] Superior weapon, average armor, a couple of choices like: regen boost, canteen, camo kit, et cetera.

So, if one chooses a sniper then they will have a nice sniper rifle, but....there armor will be terrible.
Or, there could be a predetermined role based on character stats and traits. Kind of like a game of Team Fortress. Opinions, Revisions, Remarks are all welcome.

it's been designed specificially for multiplayer (at least the versions we made available. Later on, there will also be a story-mode version of FFF)
And it'll also be child's play to turn FFF from a WW2-MP scenario to a, say, Cold war MP scenario or a modern MP scenario, especially when using VFS this would be very easy to do as well.

Surely it is the perfect blueprint fro the ideas laid out by the above posters
