Hi, I just downloaded the old version from the old thread. Anyone else have the problem where the ini editor tells you "fatal error, blah blah, please reinstall .net framework?" And if so, what's the fix? Does it still happen with more recent versions? Also with the upgrader, do I just "yes to all" when it asks about replacing files? And does the upgrader have NIV, or just the latest 1.13?

LOL just grab the .net framework from the Microsoft website Wink

All versions of my SCI have NIV as standard seeing as it's been 1.13 standard since about revision 2085 at least Smile

The upgrader will need to overwrite all files, though it will render any ini changes back to their default status. So make a backup of those if you want the changes.

Hello Kaerar-

Is HAM 3.5 included in the latest 3287 SCI link above? I'm interested in trying HAM as I've been playing an older 2085 build. Headrock said HAM is now included in 1.13 version (2651/1104 and later), can you confirm this please? Thanks for your work on the SCI etc- Cheers

HAM 2.8 was included in 1.13. If you want the latest HAM stuff go grab the 3.5 or 3.6 Alpha from the HAM thread Wink

Does this mean I'd have to start a new JA2 game? or could I use my old saves? Thanks.

What's the HAM mod for?

I have, but googling "Jagged Alliance 2 1.13" takes you not to hear but to http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/ which in turn either nets you a very out-of-date build, or a link to what it says is the cutting edge but is in fact a closed topic. I only noticed because the build number didn't line up with the comments from the downloads page.

Just making you aware that people new to 1.13 aren't going to find the latest and greatest. Razz Not because Google takes them to the wrong place, but because that place needs updating. Or is it no longer maintained?

PCM = Player Character Mod. It's available from the JA2 Campaigns & Mod Repository.

@Quitch - It's a known problem that the Wiki hasn't been updated to point to this thread. If someone has access to the wiki, please point it to the first post of this thread and all will be well Smile

How easy or difficult would it be, to apply the Wildfire 6.06 to your All-in-one package?

I really love this pack with the PCM, but i played the standard JA maps for years. The thing I like about Wildfire is that they redesign most of the sectors!

hi guys, back again. i just dl JA2 1.13 3287 exe SVN@1203 Full but i run into problem - i cannot run the game, every time i try i get message "smackw32.dll missing". funny thing is, my previous install of ja2 still works fine (sort of, i made some copy mistakes, so i would rather have a clean install..) I'm running Win7 64bit, but i also tried it on my laptop with Vista 32bit with the same results. when i copied that dll into system folder, i got another message about unable to read large fonts... any help is really appreciated Wink

And did you try the obvious - copying it into the JA2 folder? Usually copying into game/system/default for the file folder anything program whines about is solving the "file missing" problems, and googling the exact quote of the error message helps solve all others.

But i can do it for ya.

Here: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/smackw32-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm
Plenty of information about that smack w 32.

Probably the game is installed in some weird place? Try to install to C:/JA2/ for example? Try to run .exe directly clicking on it, not on a .ink file.

ja2 runs from everywhere (even a usb-stick) - so for heaven's sake install it anywhere but C:\

@istrebitel

jmx's ja does start, but is corrupted => it's not an .ink-file-matter - at least not if said .ink doesn't point to an older AND corrupt version of the game

Now that is genuinely weird. I'll be doing a more recent SCI soon anyway. As for the new install, just install anywhere and cut and paste the install folder to a different drive. Run from the exe there.

JA2 is actually very portable and has no shared/dependant files in Windows that prevents movement of the root install.

Also if in Vista or Win 7 please run as admin if you leave it in the normal place otherwise it won't have write access to the savegames and other important files (ini etc...).

At the top of the forum section ja2 v1.13 modders HQ are:
"Bear's Pit JA2 Quick Links for the Dummies, Geniuses and the Totally Lazy of us"

and a box labled
"Automatic installers for v1.13 and its latest addons (NIV, HAM, etc) made by Kaerar & Scheinworld. "

Problem is this links to the old thread with the old versions of single click installers.

Also I notice the single click hasn't been updated for 3 months so I tried SVN.
But they are only up to 1205, nothing updated since 12/15. So I see why no updates for a while. Smile

Bump for that, it is extremely confusing as a new player.

When I discovered JA2 few month ago and bought it on gog.com, I read about the 1.13 mod and googled for it. I first found ja2v113.pbworks.com wiki, that says that the last stable version is 2085 (28 April 2008). Then I found this forum when I got problems installing that version (mainly because the installation process information were outdated) and, by clicking on the quick link in the big box at the top, I found the old thread with the 3111 version.

I only discovered that thread recently, when trying to get a version with the cover system... Even if the thread is sticked, It cannot be found unless you know where it is. And new users won't find it anyway because they will find the posts/wiki about older version first.

It would be really nice to update the quick link at the top of the forum, and the http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/Downloads page

OK, another problem.

In Kaerar's install instructions is this confusing line:

"Make sure you have a clean install of JA2 1.06 or JA2 Gold. You can get the patches for original installs HERE."

Which is it, do we need a clean install or a patched version?
If no patch is needed, why have this line in the instructions?
If a patch is needed, why say clean install, and why does "HERE" not have any link to the patches?

I have successfully run games with the single click version on an unpatched JA2 gold and non-gold install so I'm guessing you don't need patch and the line should be removed from the instructions?
