but I guess the game recognizes which language version it is and reads the right XML file.

Are you sure? How this thing work?

Sure? Hell, no. As stated above, that's my guess. Don't have any localized JA2 version at hand, so I cannot test it. Whoever can do that, is welcome to post results. Maybe the 1.13 authors themselves chime in as well... they should know how the exe's innards work.

I have a problem with windows 7: I downloaded the last SVN and extracted to JA2 folder but the new JA2 1.13 .exe is not present and I can't run it, anyway if I run the standard JA2.exe it is reported JA2 1.13 in the first screen but the game is still in vanilla version.

I didn't have this problem with Vista, how can I fix it?

The "new" exe should override the old one. And why in heck are you asking that question on the SCI thread? The SCI should work properly... But anyways, when in doubt, use the INI Editor to launch the game. Be sure to choose the "vfs_config.JA2113.ini". And as for SVN, don't use "SVN Checkout" on the folder where you installed JA2. Download the SVN on a separate folder, and then move the files over to your JA2 folder, overwriting everything. (I presume you're using Tortoise SVN, since it's quite simple to use Wink ). Also... Never trust UAC, it's rather useless IMO. It makes me cringe Mad

Hello and thank you for this great mod.

It seems that this mod does save in another folder than the original one. Could you tell me where to find those saves, please ?

Thank you

In your game folder take a look into "Profiles\UserProfile_JA2113\SavedGames\".

Always depends on what version of 1.13 you were using before, every now and then, one of them breaks with old saves, but not often.

What Logi (likely) wanted to say:
He would have liked some cool feature which would have broken saves, but Headrock didn't implement it for whatever reason.

Just try if it works, but make a copy of your current install before updating.

guys, this (my) post is nearly a year old - those where different versions all together from what we have now

what i wanted to say, was that hadrock refused to do some changes (he said he could do them but won't because they would have been save-breakers) and that's why he (whoever asked that question) could use old saves

iron hair, if your saves are from the same revision as his (whoever asked that question) were AND the new one is uptodate: FORGET IT

if you don't know i'd like to advise debri's advise

wow.. the forums sure can be active at times Smile

I didnt mean to pin Logisteric down, I was reading through the pages and it seemed to me that I could use my JA2 Gold saves and continue playing in the modded 1.13.

Sounded too good to be true, so asked for a clarification.

In a nutshell, as I am using JA2 Gold (1.10) and the new revision is 1.13, it wont work.

I'm going to edit my starting IMP in 1.13 to the same stats my grown up merc had in 1.10 and then start afresh.

For other players with the same question as mine in the future:
I was reading http://jaggedalliance2.pbworks.com/Getting-Started and it says that I can change START_ATTRIBUTE to 100 in JA_options.ini.

Anyways, thanks Gorro, DB and Logisteric Smile

I have JA2 gold. Do I need to install Wildfire too?

Installed 1.13 again on a fresh install (of just JA2 Gold) and when I got to Alma, it crashes shortly after the explosion on the wall.

Loaded, tried again. Same result.

It's been a while since I changed my SCI install. Didn't keep track properly!

Greetings everyone!

First of all, thanks to all of you guys that made your contribution to make this game so awesome...
I'm a big fan of JA, and because of you I will probably always be Smile

Can you help me with something...

I just finished instaling:
JA2 Gold + JA2 1.13 3356 exe SVN@1227 Full + JA2_MP_EN_v1.5

I saw that, after installing patch, AP scoring and shooting chrosshair size changed (chrosshair size cannot be small as head, like without a patch)... ?

Is that a result of a new patch or it can be changed somewhere in the preferences ?

One more thing for all you guys with WIDESCREENS and ATI video cards,
here is a patch that will unlock your video card scalling option,
so that the screen will be automaticaly streched to fit the screen correctly,
even if your screen resolution is WIDE:

:: cheers ::

I want to help / answer but I don't know what the question is?

In 1.13 extra aim clicks make the aim circle smaller until you reach maximum aim clicks at which point the circle color changes to yellow, meaning you cannot spend more aim clicks to improve your chance to hit (CTH). (I forget how Vanilla handles this, I know for sure that you can spend extra aim clicks here too.)

The size of the circle stays the same in 1.13 for burst and auto fire, however the CTH indicator bar above the aim circle shows the CTH at start and end of your shooting sequence.

In 1.13 the Options.ini file has many (a lot) of different things you can change for your custom game experience.

Heey, thanks for quick respond!

Sorry, I didn't express myself well.

Smallest size of my single-shot aim circle was the same as for the burst and auto fire.
It cannot be smaller as before the mod. Why is that so? Is that the new type of aim circle in 1.13 version,
or it's just some setting that can be changed?

If you need pics, I'll upload them ???

Thx Wink

Here is what I want...

Check the pictures first:

With 1.13 MOD:

Without MOD:
http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/6770/ja2withoutmod.png

The smallest size of the aim cirle was too big.
I want to change it, like it was without MOD ???

Thx Wink

So, whenever I hit that link that leads to goc_man's SCI I get some UBB message that says: There was a problem looking up this post in our database.

Would anyone happen to have just that SCI link?

@Don: I think Tais SCI is the latest one.

@Beky: You know, I really never paid much attention to that, I believe that in 1.13 the aim circle size might not change maybe? Instead the chance to hit and the AP costs are updated. Unfortunately I can't start a game at the moment and confirm the aim circle size.

Now I saw a post, from goc_man no less, linking to it. Unfortunately it an invalid one, as the file it had in store was either deleted or otherwise removed...
But in the meantime I'll search for others.

goc_man hasn't posted for a couple months, his first post was today or yesterday, so his SCI may be older / outdated. Try Tais SCI, I am not super sure where the official forum for it is, but I believe this one could be it.

I don't want to discourage people from trying Tais's SCI for the beta since it has a lot of neat features, but it's probably worth noting that it IS a beta with its share of issues (aim levels not working right based on scope used, no first aid kits or camo kits anywhere, scope minimum ranges all mixed up, etc.) so people who don't want to deal with those things probably should use the old release SCI posted at the start of this thread.
