Ive kept pressing Del or Backspace when highlightning an option.
However, no response. Not sure whatsup but i can't change the values

Which settings do you mean. The ones in the HOST screen? I can change them like before. There has not been any changes to this part of code.

Yes the host settings. I dunno if its me but when i press Del or backspace
when highlightning an option to replace it for another number - fails to respond.

When you ALT-TAB back into your game....Make sure you press the ALT key an additional time.

You mean the textboxes (e.g: Player Name, IP, Port, ...). I can delete the entries with Backspace or DEL, works fine. Weird...

The problem occured when i pressed alt+tab to go back to windows.
Followed craigs advice by pressing alt+tab an additional time.

Working flawlessly!

Hi there.

Just had a CoOp game (bj_ and me) with the new 1.5-Version (Great work!! Thank you for that).
If it matters:
me (server): latest SVN version (1203) with 1.5-Multiplayer
bj_ (client): JA2 1.13 3111 exe SVN@1194 Full with 1.5-Multiplayer
Two things to mention:
1. The Realtime System does not work properly:
.. one time realtime started after enemy killed one of my mercs (no rounds between)
.. one time game switched to realtime and the enemy ran towards me (in realtime, but i was too slow to react Wink)
.. one time I (the server) got realtime, the client could not do anything (not his turn and not enemy)

2. When gas diffuses in realtime, the movement of moving mercs stops each time

Nothing more to mention at the moment, it is a very great game Smile. Additionally it seems to that the AI acts much better and intelligent now. Really really nice.

Okay guys another issue im using build 1.13 3287 with JA2 MP v1.5.

Im trying to change the starting sector so this is what im doing: im selecting Host
in the MP menu when the map screen popups i immediately change the starting sector to P3.
Joining with the client before selecting the "Ready" button im aswell selecting P3 meduna
as starting sector host/client. Hiring some mercs with both clients & readying up. Weird is that when the clients both join the default sector has been selected A9. HELP!

Ermmm. What?!

Seems to me you don't select the sector by using the marker in the Airspace-Map.

Thanks for your quick reply working now.

On the note of the AI in MP games it feels like theyre too easy to beat or is it just me ?
They rarely hit my mercs and their awareness is low.

Play on "INSANE" and with "MAXIMUM AI", then you would have enough challenge, even if the AI is weak Smile

Right and is there a way to override the Max-min clientnumber.
Its Hardcoded to 2 or 4 players but id like to test it on my own.
Without having to setup another client on the network who has to join in order to test it.

You can play with 4 clients on a single pc. Just make a copy of your JA2 installation directory, switch to WINDOWED mode in both ja2.ini files and then start the EXE in both JA2 install directories. Now you play with 2 clients on a single pc. It is quite useful for testing.

Set the IP from both to "127.0.0.1" and you are ready to go.

Oh ROwa btw the reason that the Ai was so easy to kill was because they didnt shoot back.
However, when i ran the ja2.exes as administrator at both clients it wasnt as easy as before
to kill the enemies it was more the other way around i got pwned. Very Happy Embarrassed Surprised Sad Cool

Now i only have to make all 6th characters in the teams something special... Typically with explosives, grenades and other fun stuff. Will be great to be able to really test them now.

Hi!

Just had a game with VoodooChild.
Worked good (AI is very hard and nice Smile) but again three things to mention:
1. The realtime system again:
- we experienced that the game don't want to switch to realtime again, although no enemies were seen for some rounds
- After I (the server) was dead, Voodoo (the client) could not do anything, the enemy had the only turn.

2. The enemy threw a mustard gas grenade to Voodoo and he did not get hurt by it and did not see it.

3. Sometimes explosions from grenades from other clients are not visible to other players. It seems to me that lags cause that, but I am not sure.

Hello Smile I have a problem with default server config (/MULTIPLAYER/Servers/My Server) - always when I buy certain items and click it in the inventory (to put it in my soldier's backpack), the item disappears with log entry "SOLD ITEM". It happens only with some weapon configurations and I can't explain enough how annoying it is to buy stuff for 15 minutes to only know it will disappear after clicking. I tried to prevent this by first buying only one rifle magazine to check if it will disappear, but I found a weapon set that still disappears after clicking, even if the mag alone doesn't... This will be probably very hard to understand for someone that never experienced this bug, so let's get to screens that show how to replicate:

http://img6.imgup.eu/ja2_options.png - MP Sync Directory has been emptied prior to starting the game
http://img5.imgup.eu/ja2_checkout.png - this is the only shopping done with laptop
After checking out the goods are delivered to starting sector, after that you can click any of them and they will disappear with "SOLD ITEM" log entry...! Replicated twice in a row with emptying MP Sync Directory before each attempt.

This has happened to me on August with MP_1.4 and yesterday/today with MP_1.5.


BTW, thanks a lot for explosives syncing! With strict rules given to how many of which explosives can be used this makes the game even more fun Smile

I think that is caused by switching to the Desktop by pressing Alt-Tab and then going back to JA2.
It "remembers" the pressed Alt-Key. When you now click on an item it will do the Alt-click-action = selling items. After you switch back to JA2, you should press the Alt-key one time, to solve this bug.

bug or "feature"? not sure if someone already mentioned, but in mp the enemy drops not the stuff he should drop. played vs Psi today, he killed Blood (equipped with SKS and some other stuff) - i saw his weapon and all else on ground, but when Psi lootet him he got completly other loot.

version 1.5 of course, english

items aren't synced in certain respects. For example if you want to give an item to a player of a Cooperative team by placing the item on the ground, the other player can't pikc it up
Or if an AI enemy dies, one Cooperative player gets different dropped items than the other

so it's kind of "not yet done" rather than bug/ feature Smile

ok that explains it.

More Bugs:

- i hit a lying enemy with my knife- and hear a shotsound

- i knock down an enemy with my fist, he falls, and i try to punch him on the ground, but game shows me the stopclock then and it takes around 30 sec until i can move again - the punch was never made. This happened everytime when i tried to punch a lying enemy.

- hitting an enemy in the head, was exactly 55 damage, and his head exploded - i thought hes dead (who wouldnt think that). next round he stands up and continues to play - after ive asked my opponent, he told me that his merch never died. This happened only 1 time

- Buns cant reload her extremly pimped, brandnew G11, and she just got an interrupt and is facing her enemys. Oh no, thats no bug, i just forgot to buy Ammo (this happened SEVERAL times so i just wanted to mention it :crazy: )

Buying is annoying anyway... either you buy the same stuff all the time or you'll have trouble buying just exactly what you need.

Buying scripts would be helpful, or, as i do, pre-equip the teams with pretty much all they need.

Next 2 Bugs:

- Crash always after a special Grenade Launcher was shot, in Coop (i saved the game and was able to reconstruct the bug, and from the sound i heard that it was a grenade launcher, but since the enemy drops random items i dont know which)

- And a minor bug, shots stay as little white dots the whole game, as seen in picture

ja2mp v 1.5 on Lan

my friends computer crashed twice while moving grenade launcher grenades in and out of his inventory.

Explosions not seen.

I threw smoke and my opponent couldn't see it, it appeared to have no effect on my opponent

2 player co-op: twice it crashed on the client side when ai thrown a tear gas grenade at client's merc. tear gas hit his merc and his game crashed. is there a command to disable ai throwing nades?

none that i knew of. But you can disable the faulty grenades in your enemyitemchoices.xml and then use the edited file for multiplayer purposes

thanks scorpion, just to clarify it only crashed when the actual nade hit his merc and took -1 damage. if the tear gas landed nearby he didn't crash.

I took out all the hand thrown tear gas but they used a grenade launcher and my mate crashed when he got hit by the tear gas nade.

is it always your buddy that crashes? or is it always the client?

Of course, the items in question can be commented out as well, for example setting their coolness value to zero *might* help, also unassigning the TG items from their respective launchers will stop the AI from generating them. If they already have it, it should stop them from firing it.

But this is clearly only a workaround until the actual issue is resolved.

A very weird issue. Since it only happens if the nade explodes directly on your buddy's merc, it logicly can't be any data issue, but if it only happens to him, not you, it may be a client-specific crash. Did you report this to rowa21?


in order to locate the TG greande ammo, you can use the "grenade" filter in the xml editor and you'll then see a bunch of TG grenades for several launchers.

in a vanilla-multiplayer COOP game of today, the same crash occured when my client got hit by a mustard gas grenade. So i think something about gas grenades is fishy.

workaround for players: disable gas grenades from enemy's choices and also disable the respective grenades fired from launchers for the time being. Probably needs to be synched for best effect.

I had a incident with a normal gas grenade bought for economical reasons. Upon utilizing it in front of a window to prevent death, everyone was still visible to each other.
