Found a tank shell after combat and subsequently have been able to drive a tank places, like the hummer. Is it possible to actually load and fire the tank at enemies?

Playing 1.13. I swear ... I have troops in Meduna and they have a tank. I was able to drive in it from one sector to the next and pile things in it like ti was a Hummer.

I had that happen two or three times, too. It's not possible to fire at enemies with it, though, it just behaves like the hummer.

that is a militia tank and you surely can't fill it with your gear and you can't drive it to other places as claimed in the first post

Read the whole thread:

"In a sector with a destroyed tank, I selected 'vehicle' for my merc status and tank showed up as a choice. I selected that for some mercs and then moved it to another road sector, but it doesn't do anything and you lose one of your other vehicles because you can only have two at one time."

"and anyway I've been storing stuff in my tank. LAW's, mustard gas and stun greandes. Frag rockets etc."

"I own a tank and an icecream truck, and I've been using them to store stuff."

you mean in proedit?

you don't need a proedit slot for a vehicle. You can define any random civ as a vehicle and then use them as such ingame. Renegade republic had at times up to 5 vehicles (without tanks) available for the player. Too bad the game doesn't really cope well

That's a very frequently reported "easter-egg-ish" feature of ja2 concerning using tanks after their defeat. But IIRC the tank cannon doesn't really fire the tank shell if used by a merc. At least not the last time i tried it. But maybe some xml entries can make that happen incase it doesn't already do and i was just too lazy to properly test that back then

okay guys - i shut up - when the scorpion calls it an easter-egg it is possible and i'm an elliot ('cause i never encountered it)

to show my true regret i promise to set the number of vehicles to the max (6 i believe) and thus forcing noone to abandon one of his/her three 'real' vehicles in my mod

As you can see, you can drive the tank from one place to another. It behaves like a Hummer in that it will only drive on roads. Also, you CAN store things in it. I haven't figured out any way to use it for the mercs, other than for cover in actual battles. Also, I can't figure out how to get into a tank or Hummer and get out gear during a battle. (For example, trying to get in and pull out a LAW in order to try to blast a wall.)

I believe that in a battle in which enemy forces attack your militia, the tank will operate on its own. I haven't seen that happen though when my mercs were in the sector. In those cases, it just sits there.

Shady Job uses 'creatures' as tanks , they seem to move but not very lifelike . Fires rocket rifles , I've since found that once you 'see' them it's easy to spray with autofire , this one didn't shoot back though , oddly !

@ rev1

i already revoiced

@ scorpion

any chance to add the missing pic of the tank? as it's working as a vehicle can i add a tank.sti to provide the 'rooster-pic'?

@ anyone

up the number of vehicles to the max before you play your next game and report whether you still loose a vehicle when you 'hire' the tank
