I head there as soon as I have 2 or 3 rifles in the squad, set up in the trees in the bottom right corner, and blast away. Then I blow Cambria to smithereens with my 7 ap, 40 damage shotguns.

I usually plant a mine in front of the NW door and the shed's door. About the only place i make a good use of mines. And standing on the rooftop turns it to a shooting range. What a carnage!

I always just place the lot of my mercs on the roof of that little barn that contains the weapons, and I just have my best sniper shoot a random hick through the head, causing the battle to begin. :rifle: Then I just wait for all those pathetic saps to run into the range of my rifles and I blast them till they're all dead. Once that's done, I have one of my mercs climb down, open the door of the barn and kill the last of those pricks.

When I first meet them, I didn't know about the marrying thing... Found a whole bunch of weapons and they saw me and openned fire on me...

So, I retreated and brought out the mortar. Then I started doing one-shot kills Lynx when they walked by the windows...

Then, if they made it outside, Len and Gus hosed them with MGs...

did i kill em? of course. they are ugly/stupid and they deserve to die.

it was great fun. i used my IMP who had specialization in Knifing and stealthy. killed em all with a knife. It was a really good stat boosting killing. Smile

Do both:

Send in Flo and one other as soon as MERC is online, get all their stuff - a great advantage early on.

Then after taking Cambria, go back in and use up some of that HP ammo for the loyalty gains.

After all, you get the best of both worlds that way!

@ Cybro - Yes, it does. Talk to Keith in his shop, He'll say how he stocks lots of things, but not weapons, because the Hicks would steal them. After that, kill them, then come back and talk to Keith again. He'll staock more items, and Cambria's loyalty will go up.

I usually waste the hicks as soon as possible to get that extra gear. Laser & Sniperscopes are much more useful in the beginning when your mercs aren't that good yet.

Never married off any of my female mercs. Flo is quite useful (militia and stuff) and Ira... Argh, I actually like her :naughty:

One interesting thing is, who the hell gave birth to all those Hicks (and, moreover, who's doing it still, since they seem to be respawning every couple of days)?

They aren't minotaurs, right? So the cows are out of suspicion.

I have taken the peaceful approach and given them Flo then they share their stockpile with "Kin" poor Biff is distraught so I noramly give him to Razor for a little knife practice (jezz I am wicked).

On another note, did try taking them on but usually Daryl takes one of my better Mercs out Sad

When I'm dealing with the Hicks, Daryl always bites the dust even BEFORE the turn based figh starts.

Just position your mercs behind the trees and the uh, what's the word... BARN (got it:)), the best shooter with HP ammo goes on the barn's roof and shoots Daryl in the face.

Don't talk to them, just blow them away. And then go and kick the living shit outta cows :naughty:

I usually grab all my mercs and put them in the empty room on the right side of the house. I have them crouch or go prone then start attacking. It's a decent place to defend from and the hicks generally have to come into the line of fire of at least a half dozen mercs if they try to attack.

Kill them all...I am glad others don't coware away from killing Kingpins people. You wipe them out you are free to use the brothel and loot the bars in both sectors never mind the money and weapons.

But don't sleep the night at the farm I found out that some brothers will appear again while your mercs are sleeping.

I agree with those who said shotguns are the weapon of choice though you will need some good long rifles to deal with those out in the fields. The farm will be a great place for weapons and you will have plenty to stockpile or sell to Tony afterwards.

Oh yea I have married off one of the female mercs and attacked trying to get her back it doesn't work.

I featured the Hicks farm in the short story I have here on the forum by the way. It is about life after victory.

I'm of the opinion now that yoiu should take out the hicks ASAP.
Sure get Drassen on day 1 but thern head staright for Cambria and butcher the hicks, grab their guns etc and then go and liberate Cambria. I have found that it you get a decent cache of ammo and loot from the hicks which really helps in the early stages of the game.
A friend of mine who isn't a forum member but does play JA, says his prefered tactics are to ignore Drassen completely and he goes after the hicks straight away then marches onto Alma to get the really good weapons that are there. I'm thinking of giving that a go as a campaign strategy next time.

The strategy of going after the Hicks then moving onto Alma is a good challenge to veteran players who haven't tried this approach.
