There`s nothing funnier than hearing Razor and Fidel complaining about Flo and sending them to the Hillbillys and presenting them some fresh french DNA. Smile

I have 2 questions to that, which haven't beend answered here yet:

1. Does the shop really CLOSE, if you let the hicks alive? Don't believe that...

2. There's a quest from KEith to kill the Hicks. As I first kill the Hicks, then take Cambria, I never ever had this quest. So if you kill the hicks first, does Keith have a larger inventory as well? Someone here said he would sell more items when the hicks are dead.

1. Yes, it closes. Keith tells you that the Hicks came and robbed everything he had.

2. I believe his inventory is exactly the same, but I play stracciatella, not 1.13

The exact context of the quote is as follows.

The Cathars (or Albigensians) were a group of heretics living in southern France (Languedoc)at the turn of the 12th Century. They were (amongst other things) against the riches and hierarchy of the Church. Rather than being limited to just a few dissenters, the whole of society in the region was Catharist.

In 1209, Pope Innocent III sent a crusade (the Albigensian Crusade) to wipe out the heresy. When the town of Beziers fell, the heretics were put to death on the orders of the Pope's representative, Arnold-Amaury, the Abbot of Citeaux. When he was asked how the executioners were to distinguish between heretics and true believers, his response was "Kill them all. God will recognise his own." In the massacre that followed 15,000-20,000 townspeople were put to death.

In fact some serious scholars are doubting about the exact usage of this phrase in the given situation. Some research seems to indicate that "Kill them all, god will recognize his own" (Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius) was used at the time of the event for some generic propaganda against cathars. So it's not specifically tied to this blood bath, and the inquisitor has probably never said it (directly to his men as we imagine). The book mixing events and propaganda had some success, so history mostly remembers the idea.

As for the origin, it's from the Bible it seems (though it's not precisely written this way).

Yes. I believe the shop reopens as soon as the last Hick dies.

What is the big debate abouut killing a bunch violent and nasty hicks?! I mean for crying out loud wiping them out is one of the most fun things in the game. Tons of weapons to take and a great tune up for new mercs and let's veterans refine their skills.

Kill them all....!

Debate is the spice of life. If I think you're a good arguer, I'll debate you til my pants fall off that the sky is pink. Debate is all about making a valid opinion to defend an opinional point, or factual evidence to support a factual point. Smile

Bending truth and perspective like a glass of water bends light!

For one, what if I'm a violent and nasty hick, and I see nothing wrong with porking cows? (hahaha it's funny because pork comes from pigs but apparently is given to cows)

For two, what if I like getting Speck's only enjoyable cutscene, where he describes Biff's emotional strife at Flo's absconding and marriage?

For three, what if, because I avoid playing game modes when I'm not testing/debugging where I get powerful guns early in the game, I marry off the expendable chick, get the shotguns out of the store room, wait for nightfall, then slaughter the lot of them?

It is true that you have to get Maddog prior to killing Hicks. And he's my favorite hire too. Just not just from the locals. And come to think of it, you really don't hire him, unless you consider the opportunity you give him to spill the blood of all who support the rape and pillage of Arulco (and some who don't) a form of currency. Apparently, that sure sounds like fun.

Also apparently, Maddog is strong as an ox. Great at fixing stuff, too. Even better at breaking stuff. He just loves breaking heads.

Let's do it.

I did get them married to women with statistics of 5.56, 9 and 7.62. Darrel and Daryl lost their heads in happiness. :naughty:

I spared the cows though. Although I might go back to perform some special tests on them. :devilaugh:

I usually just kill them 'cause I don't want to give them a girl. (Never tried giving them meltdown though, will that work? Never liked her.)

Ooo if it does work that would be good.

Nvm i read the whole thread and someone said they did it. Question- i thought i saw something about Daryl being hireable? is that just in the PCM or do u just have to have a high leadership?

Meltdown works fine.

I often married Buns (after all she is a Danish woman).

Since I can't see Anny woman suffering as Mrs. Hicks (not even Buns) I normally shot the whole wedding party
