I thought I remembered reading somewhere that there was a merc who could be recruited after beating him in the fight ring. I have been playing the DoM mod, but specifically hanging out in San Mona trying to find that particular character.

I wasn't able to load the mod using 1.13, so I'm using an earlier version. Have had another interesting problem because militia have decided that it's a good idea to run right through the ring as they train. You can't give them specific orders to back off.

Has anyone been able to recruit anyone after defeating 3 fighters in a row in the ring? That's what I recalled the scenario was, but haven't been able to find it online.

Not to sure about demise of men, but there are no initial recruitable mercs from San Mona in other projects.

that's in renegade republic. One of the fighters (the second one to be precise) has a name and portrait. You talk to him before the fight and he would decline to join when you try to recruit him, saying something like "show me how tough you are".
You then have to win not only the fight against him, but also against the third fighter (another martial artist)
You'll then get the kingpin invitation to the house, then you give first aid to Havoc (the RPC in question) and then recruit him. Even after beating him it's advised to use a character that's very good at recruiting (high leadership and high "recuit-Merc-NPC approach value") because Havoc sometimes still declines to join. Happened in my last game and i didn't exactly figure why Sad

It sounds fun what other changes are in it that make it fun to play?
