Sometimes it helps to press "O" to bring up the options screen , after closing it the interface should behave normal. I know it's not a fix, but that way, you don't have to restart the game.
I don't know what causes it, but it sometimes happens to me too (using DDD's exe, if someone's interested, not sure if it happened before but it's likely)

That's a pretty weird error. I guess one of the "dirty" flags isn't set correctly somewhere. I don't think I can help much though, until it happens to me or something.

@ Sot: It's possible, Warmsteel was actually contemplating doing that. I'm not interested though, 6 per team is quite reasonable anyway.

That missing graphic error seems to be just a missing Bottom_Bar_1024x768.sti. If you used one of my SCI's just run it and point it to an empty folder. In there go to the Data\Interface folder and grab the file from there and place in the same folder in your JA2 install directory Smile

If it was missing, the program would've loaded it automatically from Data\Interface. And if that was missing, it would've thrown an assertion error. No, I think it's a flag problem.

If I want to removed the health deterioration from any facility in facilitytypes.xml, I just look for health tag and look at the base effect with negative values right?

Yeah, any HEALTH tags with negative Base Effect values will always cause deterioration.

(If the Base Effect is 0, characters with experience and skill are more likely to GAIN health than lose it. Others, though, will still lose health.)

To begin, I would like to again thank the author of mod!
A lot of interesting and profound changes in gameplay!
More ... Thoughts on AI. I think it would be nice to increase the frequency of "trigger" parameter INCREASE_AI_WILLINGNESS_TO_SUPRESS! At the moment the AI very rarely goes to the attack ", so let at least some shoots:)

PS
-I changed the line of enemy weapons (lots of AK and machine guns), but still shoots rare (why?), Prefers to do nothing: (
-changed BASE_SIGHT_RANGE at 29
-can you add the extension of the contract once a month?

I also get this bug with armed civilians (using exe with new AI). It seems that they shoot randomly at your team when they are in danger situation.

1) It sometimes happens in combat.
2) It also happened to me in San Mona in two situations. Guy from the porn store sent one burst at my team when:
- I killed the girl in the store.
- I tried using explosives anywhere in the sector.
It was just one burst. He wasn't hostile after shooting. It seems that civilians + guns + danger = problems Wink

Does the new HAM automatically limit MAX SQUAD SIZE to 100, and MAX INSANE ENEMY GROUP to 64? No matter what changes i make in the options for these two settings, at the start page i get red letters indicating these are defaulted back to 100 and 64. Sorry to bother you guys. I just REALLY miss my JA 1.13. My computer crashed, and I forgot am looking for the correct installs. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Many moons ago I added some "sanity" checks to .ini settings because people were running into bugs by setting some things way too high or too low. 100 and 64 may have been the limits I put on those.

Finally an answer, yes i had a couple of bugs. It was mostly caused by having too many dead bodies on the screen (literally) so you have to destroy mortar or bomb i think any over 250dead bodies in any sector.Is there a way to go back to increasing the settings. In the past I was able to have huge squads

Change the 100 in that line in GameSettings.cpp to something larger. I don't think it is a good idea to do that in the actual released game, though.

Frankly i would live with 100. However again i get defaulted to 64 in the new Ham 3.6 etc. 64 is way tooooo easy way toooo boring. Do you have any idea when version or build (ex 2112 or 3329) when the "SANITY" checks were introduced???? What is the last version before the sanity checks were added? Thanks for your help.

Are we talking about the same thing? The 100 limit is for groups moving on the strategic map. The 64 limit is for combatants on the tactical map and that is a relatively new INCREASE from the old value of 32.

Yes at any given time only max of 64 enemies can be on the combat screen. I am trying to change the group size, currently that also keeps defaulting to 64. I used to see groups of 200 or 300 etc depending on my settings. Now I only see groups of 64, and at my start screen it says in red upper left max squad defaulted to 100 and max insane enemy group defaulted to 64. It only happens on the new Ham. Again my old computer died with my SVN updates and old settings etc. I am just trying to get back to my large scale engagements. 32-64 isnt that funny, but 10-1 is challenging. Again thanks for your time and help I really appreciate it.

how??? and no not anymore. now i am trying to download a new version i deleted that one did a clean install and got the same thing. I would imagine if you changed the settings you would see it though. Change Options max group size to 500 and Insane min enemy group to 100

UPDATE

The HAM 3.6 Settings Package is now compatible with the latest build of JA2 1.13. Same download, all you need is the JA2_Options.INI file.

Also, the PLUSAI is now removed from the settings package. If you want to use the better AI, just upgrade your 1.13 version Very Happy

Yes. PlusAI was was integrated in 1213. Don't expect it to be miles better, though. The change is relatively small. You should be able to see much more fire coming from enemies and militia though.

there's a mistake as to being blinded

the ini say from 0 > 100 so is et it to 50 and got an error the rang is 0 -> 10

I'm trying to play the full 3.6 +WF maps +AIM with no luck

I updated the game to the latest version and tried to install various packs but always got smackw32 error which I manually put inside but then I'm getting Cannot init FONT file FONTS\LARGEFONT1.sti error. I put the right FONTS pack inside the dir but it still doesn't work. Could someone point me to the right packs and the order needed to install them in so that I can play 3.6 full with WF maps and AIM? Cheers

That error probably means you should reinstall your original JA2.
That file comes with the original install.

Doing everything from scratch now... While it's downloading, I might as well write a few words of appreciation.

I've been playing the JA series since the very first one. I think the midi tune of part one is forever burned into my brain. I'm a big TB fan, been one since UFO. But JA2 is where TB combat and strategy sort of plateaued. While I had played great TB combat games later, none could compare to the fun of JA2. I've been playing this game for over a decade and still am. The reason for that are the many mods that just don't seem to have an end. Sure it might have been easy few years ago to choose, but now the sheer choice of mods is overwhelming. Which is the best? Which one will give you the most options? Or which one brings in the most novelty? If I was to suddenly just playtest JA2 mods I would loose my job and my girlfriend and my guinea pig would die of starvation. It's really amazing the fanbase that the game's got. Years and years people are still expanding the game, adding more and more options, looking for new ways to revitalize it. I wonder if any of the original devs check up on it and gaze in astonishment just how far has their own creation gone in the hands of capable devoted fans.

JA2 is like a classic piece of music, that even years later people are still releasing remixes that are popular with new and old crowds alike.

it gets confusing trying to follow all these threads to the most up to date downloads of the mods I'd like to play.

I want to play a HAM3.6 + Wildfire + AIM combo (with many mercs mod if that can be done). Is there a one click installer that will get me that? I'd appreciate a link to it, thanks.

in my JA2 folder i have a data folder (which i assume is my clean JA2 from GOG.com), a data 1.13 folder (which would be the version of 1.13 i downloaded some time ago..can't remember which version it is) and a data 1.13 Wildfire 6.06 folder (which is modified with AIM and is the game i currently play).

What I'd like to be able to do is keep that Wildfire 6.06/AIM data folder and have the Ham3.6/WF/AIM as a separate one and then have two separate shortcuts that would run either of those games as separate entities. Currently my JA2 shortcut starts the WF606/AIM game. Can someone walk me through how i could set that up?

apologize for being such a newb. loved JA2 when it first came out and all these mods have me rejuvenated...it's the only game I play now. i just have a hard time keeping track of all the mods.
