The idea behind this is to keep the same colouring and create a smoother and easier to see interface. Cleaned up the excessive bevelling and redone most of the textures.

1024x768 is test resolution. Lower resolutions do not have all the correct components in it yet. Please test at 1024x768All feedback is welcome.

Download from here

Alternate NewGoldPiece3.sti with Vehicle bar still in place (Right-Click "save as" or "save link as").

Install into your JA2 installation \Data-1.13\Interface\ directory.

These are actually older images and there have been some slight alterations since taking them. Will upload newer ones after I have had some sleep Smile

This is a JA2-style interface, right?

Did you take into account the larger message window / expenses display from the newest 1.13?

All images are based off SVN 1210 Smile

The interface is based off the original JA2 interface. Hopefully fixing some of the little issues and making things a bit less stressful on the eyes Wink

Looks really good. I like that interface!

@Kaerar: One thing I am missing is the separation line on the gold strategy panel which separates the merc from the vehicles. Could you add that back? Otherwise great interface.

No need the put the separation line back, because vehicles are now in the same list.

Looks great , good work ! One little niggle , at mercs r/hand where it usually shows two boxes for weaps , etc . when only one in use , I still get a part of the original ( actually MM's camo background) showing till I am using two hands . As for the vehicle separation bar , seems ok to me ! POLL !!! Very Happy

Yeah that's because the gun cover is using the base SVN pic. I haven't got that image in the package yet Wink

Same. They were an idea of I think it was MM a while back with the alternative NIV interfaces when NIV was released. I think they are fitting and better than a blank section Wink

Upon request I am working on this again. Aiming to have a release for RoWa21 in the next couple of months. The original version suffered badly with an HD loss (only reason it didn't get completed), so I'm starting again from scratch.

Resolutions to be done:

4:3
640x480 (for compatibility)
800x600
1024x768
1280x960

5:4
1280x1024

16:9
854x480 (480p)
1280x720 (720p)
1366x768
1920x1080 (1080p)(possible)

16:10
1280x800
1440x900
1680x1050 (possible)

I'm starting on them this week so it'll be a few weeks at the shortest, however I need to go over pixel positioning to make my life a bit easier as there are quirks in the current one where things are shifted by one or two pixels in a random or illogical manner.

I'll send ya my skype over PM if you want to have a chat about it Smile

I'm just going to finish this project as it's something that JA2 has deserved for many many years Smile

Dunno what'll happen after as I'm pretty heavily involved in a mod project for X3: Terran Conflict.

Oh wow, I didn't know that there was so much progress in the X series, I own a copy of X: Beyond the Frontier and I still remember the countless hours I spent listening to the female voice while waiting to dock to the various stations like the flower farms to pick up sunrise flowers, it was a great game, I just didn't have a clue what I was supposed to do other than making money and upgrading my ship. Freelancer had more of a story line, so much in fact that it occasionally felt like the story line "got in the way" of my trading fun.

So what are you modding for X3:TC?

Well basically the balance of the game annoyed me when I started playing it, so I started on a small rebalance project which then kinda snowballed into a full remake when a coder and another modder got involved. Currently we have remade the galaxy (was 221 sectors with a very odd universe map, now we have 281 sectors with a much better universe map) and are working on a completely new economy. While that's going on I've rebalanced all the ships in the game plus a few extra (roughly 500 odd ships) and am in the process of making them partially modular. Rebalanced all weapons upped weapons from 31 to 52 and rebalanced all shields too. Missiles are being removed in favour of guns which are also being altered to remove ammo based ones and flak (partially for reality reasons and partially for performance reasons).

So yeah it's pretty full on. There is an early alpha we released for testing but it's very very far behind the current development of the mod and is based in the original galaxy. I'm thinking of releasing a final alpha test to see how the new ship balance works with a few different viewpoints, but other than that it'll be missing the new galaxy and economy. Should be fully compatible with the original storyline of Terran Conflict though Smile

I have been a busy bee Very Happy

X-Timlines Thread

We haven't released details of the map publicly yet, that's happening with the beta release. The 0.54 Alpha release hasn't got the weapons fully sorted (some gfx errors and lots of repeated gfx for weapons), but most of the balancing and so on isn't too bad.

The next release for balance test will be called 0.7 or 0.8 and I'm in the middle of that at the moment.

Ships are currently based off the available ship mods along with the originals being edited to be more modular. Unfortunately we can't make the models truly modular ingame as it stands, but we are working on it.

Economy won't be available until beta release as that is linked to the new map. Currently the map is semi-populated, but has no stations or anything as they are script installed and the script isn't quite finished.

I'm having this weird runtime error whenever I try to access the Strategic Map. I do wonder... :whoknows:
http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/7426/runtimeerrord.png

Playing on 1024x768 and using Tai's 1.13 Beta SCI. Would the latter be the cause?

@yoshi: That bug occurs because of the UDB integration from HAM 4.0. To get this beta interface working, you have to delete ony file (AFAIK it is the MBS_1024x768.sti) from the beta UI and use the original one. Then it works.

Right gotta ask a few Q's.

I have the option of changing the UI to have some detail, like steel surrounds, changed Computer look, that sort of thing. Seeing as the original UI has no real commonality behind it (the gold back for the Strategic Merc selection?), I can do what I did the first time and emulate the colour pattern, or I can add a style to it.

Thoughts please Smile

1920x1200 (possible)

"Man, I must be living behind the moon!" Are there already new resolutions possible with 1.13? or do you just make them for the new releases?

Short version: Would be wise to convert my templates (which I made from yours, because your files are much cleaner, concerning pixels) in the resolutions you mentioned above?

Well the way I work is to have a master Photoshop file which is set to the highest resolution and then make the smaller ones off that. Most elements from 800x600 up to 1920x1080 can be the same with just sizing differences for inventory and the main map being the big changes.

Currently they aren't available but are in development, though that took a hit last night when my PSU lost a 12v rail (been trying to get a new PSU for the last month!!!) so that's getting replaced this Friday.
