My first try on 1.13 was very fun, I had no idea of the Drassen counter attack, so it took me completely by surprise. All I had was my IMP and Ira, both lightly injured, healing at the mine, when the Queen's troops attacked during the night. I had no grenades, no Assult rifles or sniper rifles, 1 ACOG 4x scope, and not even a smg for either of them (the 10mm had no ammo left)

Attempt 1: Ira and IMP both have a pistol and tries to "wing it"... didn't even last 3 minutes.

Attempt 2: Ira and IMP both have 2 pistols and runs as they shoot. Nope, overwhelmed.

Attempt 3: Ira and IMP climbs onto 2 different roofs beforehand... Nope.

Attempt 4: [a bit frustrated now] Ira and IMP tries to pick up enemy drops, and see if they can get a smg or grenade... Nope, it's like running into a zombie herd.

Attempt 5: Ira picks up a Type 85! Oh yes! I always thought type 85 was garbage, but at that moment it was like the wood from the true cross...! Full Auto into the zombie herd... Nope, there were simply too many of them...

Attempt N: I gave up on it for a few days, then I saw "Mr and Mrs Smith" and was inspired... Ira and IMP both stood in the middle of the central roof, double pistols each, with their backs to each other, and lots of loaded pistols in their pockets, and the pistols they can't carry at their feet. No reloading. They just rotated on that roof and danced around... It was beautiful. The most intense firefight I've ever experienced.

Yer, that was by far the most difficult battle I've ever fought in Jagged Alliance II. I've charged tanks with TNT in vanilla 'cos I ran out of LAW, but that didn't come close to difficult compared to beating the Drassen counter attack with pistols. I'm currently playing the 1.13 Wildfire hybrid, and found a lot of explosives when I took the Drassen mine. Throwing a stick of TNT followed by a grenade into a crowd of red shirts... Priceless.

Drassen Counterattack with my team fitted out with 2 LMG's and 4 Scar H SV's - No Militia support.

Set up a defensive picket in the southern House in the Drassen Mine sector, had Magic, Scully and Grizzly covering the 3 southern looking windows - Stogie, Mack [IMP] and Ice covering just outside the house each approach...

Couple of hours later 57 dead Soldiers & Elites, Mack, Ice Stogie and Grizzly severely wounded, most of the Ammo gone, Mortar shells used up by Stogie and a couple of hammered buildings. What a fight it was Very Happy it's a shame that bullet casings/spent shells aren't modelled in because there'd be piles of ammo and blood all over the place lol

Edit : Its a shame there isnt a realtime replay function to watch your battles afterward. Is there any way to code it ?

I've got a bit of a bug problem in Drassen at the moment, and Biff and Flo are currently camped out in the mining-commission shack in D13 to keep them under control while my other squads clean up a few other details (and we wait for a shipment of heavy ordnance to clean out the hive like they did it in the Old Corps). Now, in all my years(!) of playing JA2, I've never actually put either of those two face-to-face with the Crepitus, so I didn't know quite what to expect from them, but being that they had a well-protected position, NVG-IVs, Dyneema armour, fully tooled-up M4A1s, and thirty veteran militia for back-up, I figured they couldn't go far wrong. What I didn't count on was Biff's reaction to being confronted with half a dozen Crepitus - which was both perfectly in-character for him and struck me as a Crowning Moment of Funny.

I mean, he's not exactly a model of composure at the best of times - but hearing Biff screech "Oh, my God! OH MY GOD!" in utter panic had me in stitches. :biglaugh:

Then he played the pack eighteen rounds' worth of rock-and-roll, wounding five of the six and killing two of them outright, proudly proclaiming "I put that thing's lights out!" - and getting Flo's 'excellent, Biff!' line to boot. :rulez:

Sometimes, the interactions in this game are just superb. :luckystrike:

I just had one the other day for all those Hamous haters out there.

I'm playing 1.13 wildfire maps mod and wasn't quite ready for the Drassen counter attack and only had my B-Team of Ira, Hamous, Dynamo and Shank in town at the time. So knowing I can't manage a street brawl with that lot I hide them all in the workers changeroom of the minning complex and wait, and wait, and wait for the interupt fest as they eventually figure out where my team is and wander in the door.
Halfway through the "battle" Shank gets an interupt and pops a head and I get the following chain of dialogue...

Shank: "Discharged!"

Hamous:"Me not want dis to happen to me."

Dynamo:"Might be usefull."

I had a friend of mine playing Renegade Repuplic at my place. He found Leon Jr. and hired him. Then everytime Leon said something, I repeated it.
It took him 45 minutes of this to finally go: "Hold on a sec. NUMBBIE this NPC sounds exactly like you!"
"Yeah it is me."
"WHAT THE ****"
The look on his face when he finally realized it... priceless!

Good to hear that you still listen to that Very Happy

But back to the topic.

Today I had the most Priceless moment.
It was so epic and movie like.
So I've just taken Drassen (In Renegade Repuplic thou.. can't remember the name) and I have a crew of 5. Ok so I'm expecting a counter attack. So I spread my crew to the 3 main sectors and start training militia. Fortunately I finish training and then I position my mercs to roofs and such.

Ok first attack goes to the middle sector where I only have Dimitri and my militia. Dimitri is on top of a roof on a house in the middle of the map. It's night time and the foes close in. Fighting starts and Enemys and militia are gettin killed all over. First it seems like militia is taking a beating, until the only trained merc Dimitri steps in. He starts really blowwing things up. First he takes out a barrerow next to a building. Taking out 4 enemys and setting the whole building on fire.
Enemys panic and I even see one foe (a poor) so desperate that she decides to take herself and the guys next to him out with a grenade. And they happen to be next to a gas station. BOOM again sea of flame!
More Enemys close in on dimitri who throws a grenade at a guy.. that guy had a molotov cocktail with burst into flames.. taking out 3 guys. Then Dimi throws one of his own. BOOM goes too guys up in flames. Now the whole map is littelary burning, so Dimi stands up and takes his AK. Ratatat - 1 - ratata - another. Couple wounded foes try to run but get shot down by surviving militia.

Result, 35 dead bad guys, 15 dead militia, 5 blown up houses, and 1 unscarred Dimitri. It was straight out of Rambo 1 or something.

Best part was when 3 militia got wiped out Dimitri says "Good we will all die together" Very Happy

AWESOME!

There's a Finnish-speaking NPC in Renegade Republic? Shee-it, I really need to get windows up and running, some way or another...

Anyway, back to topic: I was playing an all-female game. I was taking Alma training facility with my IMP Pine, Fox (IIRC) and Buzz. The gateguard somehow saw Buzz and Fox before they saw him and sent a burst towards them. They both go prone, unscratched, and Fox says: "That was close!" "You call that close?" Buzz replies, and sends another reply to the gates (I still hadn't seen the guy even though I could guess where he was, but I had enough bullets to shoot blind) with her M4somethingorother. Tatatatata! "Argh! Unf! Ohhh..." *thud* "I don't carry it around to look good, jackass!" Buzz has never been one of my fave mercs, until now.

EDIT: Forgot to ask you pardon my inglese.

I don't remember the exact circumstances of this incident. I believe I was fending off a counterattack on the northeast SAM, because I had my entire team camped on a roof (it's a strategy I frequently use, probably because my IMP has the sniper trait and an M21 EBR).

Barry was watching the northeast side of the one small building that we were sniping from. Now like I said, I don't know if this was my turn or if it was an interrupt. An enemy came into his sights, and he fired down upon the unfortunate, blowing his head off. "Ah, there is hope for me yet!" Barry exclaimed as he gained his first level.

What a way to break him in. I'll never be without him or Fox again.

My favorite part or memory about JA2 was in the demo, the characters interactions (Gasket going crazy over Vicki in the basement and Vicki freaking out), but mostly opening the garage door with Vicki using her silenced desert eagles and silently taking out the guards before they triggered the alarm.

XD

Can you believe that I have always wanted this game since it came out but only just got it last month! Needless to say I am going crazy over the game and can

Next time try the DCA without using room glitches that allow for a complete massacre Wink

I did it with six mercs in daylight and night time. In Daylight I camped on the roof of the mining building and covered the north and southwest flanks with 5 of my 6 strong squad while my IMP covered the Eastern flank with an H&K M21e and a Battle scope.

For the night defence I was up the top middle section of the map with two of the team sniping from the rooftops (became 3 later when Fox jumped up and joined Igor) and 4 (later 3) on the ground running between left, south and right flanks as needed Smile

Normally 1 or 2 per Merc. Depends how much killing each merc does plus what they get from other actions (running etc...).

As a priceless moment, I just had one. Playing JA2 Stracciatella, I had a 6 strong squad run into a 6 strong redshirt group. It ended with only Ira on full health! She was running about patching everyone else up (IMP, Grunty, Igor, Grizzly and Fox) and then got the final kill two with a 1 in a million unaimed .38 pistol shot. Got the git in the head (by accident!) and critically hit for something like 60 at a range of 15 tiles! (Keep forgetting suppression doesn't have any real effect in Stracc!)

I recently had a really swell time liberating Chitzena in an early stage of the game. A little too early perhaps, since my mercs weren't that well-equipped nor experienced but I gave it a shot. I arrived in the sector a bit anxious but calmed down as soon as I noticed there was a STORM! Smile

The storm, with the piss-poor sight, allowed me to sneak around in teams of two dealing off the enemy with blades and throwing knifes. I had Razor with me, pairing up with Igor, which both racked up kills by spotting the unaware enemy to slice them in half. After a while the sector seemed almost empty so I decided to just hunt down the last man ("...and SLIT HIS THROAT!") quickly and spread everyone out in order to move on.

Suddenly a redshirt got the drop on MD, in company with Bull, which mitigated the latters health to 50 % with a SMG-burst. MD who happened to stand closest pulled his UDAR and took his first shot of the campaign at the head of the redshirt.

Splat!! Curtains down. Smile

I had an encounter with bloodcats AND an enemy patrol at the same time during an evening storm. It was quite a fight.

I finished the game last night (YAY ME). Coming out of the fireplace, my team was ambushed by Joe, who went on his "Life is a bitch!" thing, autofiring at my squad, wounding them all. My IMP was not pleased by this, and retaliated with a 20-bullet Metal Storm autofire into Joe's head. -400 damage. No headpop unfortunately, but man, was he dead or what...

I also had the immense pleasure of firing an RPG-26 (WARNING: DO NOT AIM AT FACE) at Deidranna's face. No kill, but it hurt her enough (and she was isolated from her elites well enough by several clouds of mustard gas) that the rest of my team was able to charge in with their CQB weapons and finish her off.

That is helluva lot of fun!! Very Happy

I mentioned it in another thread recently...in essence, a camping SoB got ambushed by a bloodcat giving me time and space to move to their back and finish them off with a Molotov. It felt awfully good to see him standing there completely unaware, taking shots at me, while the cat just moved closer and closer from behind... Smile

It was pretty funny. My team handled it extremely well, as I was just camping the bottom of the map and letting the enemies fight it out. Even my sniper couldn't see what was going on very well!

In general, though, bloodcats annoy me. From the early-mid game on, I don't carry HP or Glaser since enemies are quickly getting armor, and 7.62 belt HP is hard to find.

Speaking of, I like to carry a few boxes/belts of 7.62 AP/tracer once I have the truck/hummer and use them to reload my weapons out of combat (since there's no penalty for this). Saves a lot of weight on those heavy clips.

I had another funny moment while taking Meduna, when an enemy tried to put suppression fire on my sniper. Instead of hitting me, he hit an ally standing in front of him about 5 times for -22 and knocking him down. Good stuff, as Magic would say.

Played my first Multiplayer games yesterday.

After some test games, we made our first "real" Coop Game (FFF Mod)

Some Merch from the other team got shot, and i sendet Dr. Q to heal him - next round, Dr. Q got a Headshot and is down to 2 HP. Somehow we managed to kill all nearby enemies, and after that 3 Merchs healed Dr. Q, kinda ironic Smile But he survived! (Fidel blowed himself with TNT later, never had this before too)

I had a fairly good time liberating Cambria, already done Drassen and Chitzena (1.13 WF), working my ass off though not to get shot to pieces. That's since I was doing it with second squad, also known as my 'meh' Mercs. Composed of Ira/Dimitri/Gasket/Grunty/Grizzly and Fox. Anyway, last sector of Cambria, the Mine. Oh how I dread thee.

My first playthrough first squad got mauled here, lost both of my IMP's here almost and got Ivan killed though he did manage to shoot 4 guys up so yeah for Ivan.

Anyway to continue, now a bit more cautious I placed my mercs around the approaches to the Mine, placed the three G's together and FID as well, made them 'look/aim' at the same time. Alright, 4 red-shirts (or.. blue-shirts). A short round of shooting later, 4 corpses.

Alright going good, note that the entire squad was positioned near the bottom edge of the screen, where yes the Sam-site is. Two turns pass, shooting one or two during an interrupt suddenly. Oh my god. 10 Leet's standing amongst my Mercs. All loaded to the teeth (the alt-popup function), I gulped, fired down three and promptly got both Ira and Dimitri killed. But the 4 AIM members stepped up and kicked ass and chew bubblegum.

End of story, Gasket/Nearly dead, Fox, gained 2 levels and like +5 Mark, Grizzly killed two Leet's with his bare hands. And Gumpy got 2 jams in a row (his gun was empty so I had him pick up an enemy weapon), before deciding screw this, throwing a nade and landing it perfectly behind a barrel which blew up vaporising the enemy.
