New Year, new CTD. Smile
C13 Day 3 23:58, 59 and ... CTD.
Sad

This was a nasty one. It was because of sending a mail of one of the new WF merc. The mail of the new WF merc was not handled -> CTD.

Now it is fixed.

Hi,

its not a bug, but nevertheless (SCI from 7. January) :

It seems several new mercs have been added. Which is totally awesome in itself, thanks to whoever did that.

What bothers me is that the new mercs seem to be a bit strange. In particular the bios don't match:
- It says that Grace is good at knife-throwing. She herself says that again in the dialogue when you recruit her. So... shouldn't she have the throwing-ability? Just wondering. The other traits seem rather strange too, given her description... and why does she have tools?
- the bio says that Dr. Laura Colin (the Eldar-looking one Smile ) studied medicine and is a field medic. And she had an automatic weapons course. So shouldn't she have the paramedic/doctor trait and/or auto weapons?
- Lucky's traits have nothing to do with his descriptions, although the bio says something about Close Quarter Combat.
- I think in Henning's description there is a typo, the last sentence should be "... he doesn't like Thor."
- Perhaps Monk's character should be "loner", given the description.
- Aren't this guys a bit... hm... expensive? I know the prices are generally high in the end, but...
Perhaps this a general problem, but the income gap between "cheap" and "expensive" mercs is just ludicrous once they levelled up.

This is not meant as a general criticism of including new mercs, far from it. I really like it. It just feels unfinished. And I am posting in this thread because I do not know where these additional mercs origin from (altough its a safe bet the creator is a german Wink ).

Well I think the one who make new mercs and the one who make S.T.O.M.P are not the the same person.
So, when we use them both, the new mercs get ramdom trials.
I look into the data a while ago to find the old trials of new mercs and find out that they have totally differents trials.

But good news is you can fix that by yourself

first back up your data 1.13 folder(it's very important)
use mercprofile-beta(it should be in your ja2 folder), click [file] > [select directory] and browse for data 1.13 sub-folder in your ja2 folder.
load it and now you can change all of the mercs status and trials.
just change new mercs' trials as you see fit.

In my case, I stick to the old trials because it's the creater's intent
Henning [Squadleader > Auto weapons, Heavy weapons]
Rudolf [Auto weapons,Deputy > Markman, Night opt]
Laura [Markman,Night opt,Teaching > Auto Weapons,Paramedic,Stealth]
Lucky [Deputy, Night opt,Teaching > Auto weapons,HtH,Bodybuildy]
Monk [add Hunter trial]
Scream [add Deputy trial]
Brian [Deputy > Technician]
Grace [Auto weapons, Bodybuilding > Throwing, Night opt]

save it and play the game(you need new game to get the change)

well maybe it's just me but when I change mercs trial and play the game, my cursor in game get buggy.
But this can fix,too.
Just save the game and quit
Then replace modifier data 1.13 with unmodifier data 1.13(That you shold back up like I say, right?)
load save game and the bug is begone.

Well, I know I can change the traits, but I thought I'd might be better if someone with SVN access also changes this, so it'd be in there for everyone.

But if you revert to an unmodified 1.13, all other changes to any files will be undone, so that's not a feasible solution (at least for files that are continuingly read during the game, like EnemyGunChoices.xml ).

EDIT: I just committed the fix to the development source trunk

If you enter a sector with a RPC (such as Skyrider or Hamous) the game will give you a pop up dialog box saying that you noticed someone in the sector (at lest the very first time for sure).

If you cannot find Skyrider try the following:
1. Save your game
2. go into tactical map and enable GABBI cheats
3. go into strategic map and select a squad to move, then use Ctrl+T to teleport it into a sector Schein listed
4. go into the tactical map at the destination sector and enable Alt+E to make all items and RPCs visible
5. scroll through the tactical map to find a person in a house or look in the mini map at the bottom right for a white dot.
6. repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 for each sector Schein listed until you find Skyrider
7. once you have found Skyrider, load your save game from step 1 and travel to the sector where Skyrider is normally (without cheating)

If you cannot find Skyrider then there are some other possibilities:
- you had combat in the Skyrider sector and Skyrider was killed
- there is a problem with your install
- you play a mod where Skyrider is in a different sector (not sure if this exists)

If you feel any of the above could be the case for you, then try the following:
1. Save your game
2. Start a new game with your existing installation (do not attempt to fix anything yet)
3. follow the steps 2 through 7 from the first list
4. If you can find Skyrider, then he may have been killed in the game you are playing (or there is a bug with him, which is rare)
5. If you can not find Skyrider, then try reinstalling everything from scratch

I use the newest Tais'SCI's 1.13 beta and I found something weird.

7xscope has minimun range for aiming bonus = 15
but 10xscope has 7?

It turn out I can't shoot anything at close range with 7xscope(closer than 15 tile), my CTH is hopeless.
but I can with my sniper rifle?

It is the creater intention or just some bugs?

Oh, and is there some way to shoot with scope attach but not use scope?(like real shooting)
Because shooting at point-blank with scope-weapon and has no way to hit is......well.....weird?

No.

I had requested an additional firing mode for unscoped fire, when Headrock began working on NCTH. He thought it wasn't necessary and thus the idea died a quiet death in the IRC chat...

@spaeR: Not sure why the "someone in the sector" doesn't appear, maybe we have LUA now and it is not working?

@smeagol (and possibly ChrisL): There should be a point shooting mode (without looking at any sights). Also some iron sights (and red dot etc.) can be cowitness to the scope (meaning you can use the other sight while a scope is mounted), not sure if NAS is aware of that.

For example on a Wasr AK it is possible to mount a red dot sight (an older version working similar to a holographic sight) *and* have iron sights as cowitness (there is some space under the red dot I believe where you get a line of sight through the irons).

Same as with sights can be flipped to the side.

As I said, I tried to convince HR that we should have additional firemodes for reflex sight/scope/iron sight shooting. He told me it was too difficult to add. End of story.

Try NCTH already.

It's promising and it makes each weapon more unique than it's use to be.

I had a question about stat loss and it's depiction on the roster screen. It was to my understanding that Sandro made stat loss appear in a fashion such as -2 on the roster screen. I am using Tais' SCI, and it is not a feature anymore. Can anyone else confirm this?
