Currently working on the tilesets and discovered an annyoing bug in the tileset editor tool JA2TSE.exe (download for that is here).

It simply won't let me rename tilesets, always prompting :

Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range.

The prog seems to be written in VB6. If anyone capable of that language could take a look at that, I'd appreciate it.

It's nothing gamebreaking, it's just plain annyoing, that I can't rename a tileset (example, I changed the contents of the swamp baretrees tileset to something completely different and want to rename the tileset accordingly, to match with it's content... in this case something like Tropical 2.... not possible due to the editor bug. The tileset itself works fine, I just can't rename it).

Without the source code of this program, its very hard to fix that bug...

EDIT: Having the source code from ALL this usermade tools would be awesome Smile

Well... this could be a huge problem, since this prog is almost 10 years old (also it's written in VB6, as far as Tais could tell me).

Guess there's no way to fix this then. :/

Really a shame... any other way to rename a tileset?

One of my favourite tools. Never come upon this; then again doubt I tried renaming a tileset to match my changes. I know that using a UB set file works in JA2 if you delete the 10 sets you don't want. So maybe add set Tropical 2 ( a clone of your changes) and delete set Baretrees.

Do you already tried to change the JA2set.dat with a Hex-Editor?

Alright... managed to rename the Sub-Tileset with Hexeditor. And now I even can re-name stuff again with the JA2TSE.exe. Weird....

Problem seems to be solved.

Thanks.

Found a workaround for the above mentioned runtime error bug.

When you want to rename a tileset, here's what you need to do:

Temporarily delete an entry from the generic 1 master tileset, rename the tileset and then add in the removed entry.

It seems, that in order to rename a tileset. the generic 1 tileset has to be modified, otherwise the ja2set editor will crash with the runtime error. If the generic 1 got modified everything works fine.
