I think I saw a table of all the mercs and their code number, but using the search function I can't seem to find it again, maybe it was on another site.

Could any of you veteran dwellers point me in the right direction? What I'm looking for is a list of the mercs' numbers so I can easily find their speech files in the mess one gets when using the slf extractor. If there's any such file in the source code, it would help me immensely if anyone made it available to me.

Thanks for your time

Thanks Logi, I had a feeling you might know what I was looking for and would be willing to help a brother out. There is one minor issue tho, I don't have permission to access the files:-)

If you knew where the files will be used I'm not sure you'd be willing to help me out;-)

lol, not really, I actually like Germans. But I'm sure the hard core JA2 TB players would consider my work blasphemous. Even tho I consider JA2 one of the greatest games ever made, I'm a SPM guy[runs for cover]

EDIT: No, I'm not an expert in excel, sorry. I do have some experience in coding, playing with textures and whatnot. Those who recognize my nick might be familiar with my work.

@ r@s:

it's fixed in beta8 anyway (tab: scheme) stg? sturmgewehr, mostly abbreviated stgw (but it was never called that), the 'stg' above was a typo, should have been sth (something)

@ diddi:

you don't mind if i steel it for mercmachine? (stats, pics, bios = all but speechfiles)

Hey Dieter, can you please tell me how you've derived columns Q, R and S?

Also, what does the V and W-colums tell us? Is it a ratio of how expensive a merc is given that they stand repairing or training militia all day? It seems that you've accounted for their skill as well, with R and S, but I find it hard to find the most valuable mechanic or trainer by the numbers themselves.

I'm a bit distracted (by work, hehe) so please forgive any stupidity on my behalf.

Thanks,

I believe columns Q, R, S come from here, however if my values are different from Andy's Web site, I must have figured out how to obtain / calculate these numbers and fixed Andy's numbers (I made the very first version of the Excel in 2008 and I really can't remember what I did). If I fixed Andy's numbers, then I may have used Headrock's How-To guide.

Columns V and M give you the price per repair / militia point using the cheapest initial salary (before any leveling). If you need to repair a lot of stuff, you will be better off getting the soldier with the highest repair skill - you can afford. If two soldiers are roughly equal, you can use V and M to tell you which one is cheaper. Then look at the level, higher level is better / faster, so you may want to pay more for that. However if the more expensive soldier is lower level, you are paying too much.

Columns D, E, and F by the way categorize the soldiers into "buckets" with the intent to sort by these numbers to find "good combinations" like for example: "I want high MRK soldiers with also a high WIS in the beginning so that they learn more during the course of the game".

And of course the Excel does show the old skill traits and not STOMP skills. Additionally some mods may significantly change the skill traits, for example Razor in Urban Chaos has the Sniper trait, which makes him highly desirable as the sniper bonus applies to auto fire as well (at least in a non STOMP system).
