More a Saucer Full of Secrets guy mysen when it comes to the Floyd. That or the Wall OST with Sir Bob singing the lead on various crucial trax.

Listening to Crass & the Mob brought more questioning & active thought than Floyd ever did for me. P-F is perfect stoned music and Cocteau Twins are even better. Mmmmm Squidgey Black.

For JA2 I like nastier combative stuff like Bolt-Thrower, Prodigy, Motorhead, Killing Joke and even the UK Subs! Or for a more cinematic feel something classical like Finlandia.

Prodigy is in my common play list but I tend to use the more beat heavy stuff for fast paced FPS like CoD 4 and 5, etc...

I find JA2 far more relaxing than tense so I tend to use more relaxing background music. The ingame stuff is just a little boring after 10 years!

I agree about PF being perfect stoner music, but I never viewed it as that (didn't know what stoned meant at 9!), so to me its associated with reading (as its non-intrusive) and even falling to sleep. Thing is I have listened to it so many times I started to pick out the nuances of the lyrics, amusingly railing against the "machine" yet they made so much off just Dark Side of the Moon (6th best selling album EVER!) that they turned from railing against it to being a part of it (Nick Mason + Enzo + Top Gear + Helicopter).

The Wall is very thought provoking as it seems to be against education, however what it is really addressing is indoctrination and basic mind control (Peer pressure) which is enforced in state and private schools. But anyway that's a topic all in itself Smile (He says turning on the Marilyn Manson cover of Another Brick in the Wall...)

I don't listen to music while playing i like to hear the sounds of war. This gun i just found in UC sounds really cool - it's a light machine gun- dang i can't remember the name of it- it has a drum for a magazine- i also am loving the sound of this certain sniper rifles - the CZ 700 perhaps-it sounds like the bullet casing is actually being ejected- very nice. Funny thing is i have rosebud and postie as my snipers right now trying to get there stats up- and they are doing pretty good at it with low marksmanship stats- i think they both in the 70's. I just had a counterattack battle with those two i was taking out baddies from the roof long range. Their wisdom sucks so bad that their mark stat didn't go up the entire battle.

I used to listen to prodigy with Grand Theft Auto (the FIRST one for Win95), 'cause the radio would load tracks from the CD so I just went with it. I also remember playing JA2 with "Jilted Generation" playing, but not consistently. I haven't gotten tired of the JA2 music, and I usually like playing a game with the music that comes with it, otherwise it's kind of weird.

I'm not a fan of "The Wall". My favs are Animals and Atom Heart Mother, just for the nonconformity value Wink

Wrong again. Majek beat you to it. But wear that badge with pride, Private. It belonged to a great man, you know. He put his life on the life for the fatherland, kaiser and God. Too bad they had to send him home when he shot himself in the foot.

Any Nine Inch Nails. Trent Reznor has the perfect mix of hard, ambient, soft, and progressive music. Any occasion in JA2 1.13 is adequately covered by the Nine inch nails catalog.
The Slip
Ghosts 1-4
Year Zero
With Teeth
The Fragile
The Downward Spiral
Broken
Pretty Hate Machine
or any of the other various remix albums.

Blues and/or blues rock. Some stuff from Woodstock '69 stuff might also show up if shuffle's enabled.

Might not fit into the whole "Bang, I shot you dead" theme of the game but I find it soothing.

drassen counterattack: donovan patrick leitch - remember the alamo

880 were challenged by Travis to die
By a line that he drew with his sword as the battle drew nigh
A man that crossed over the line was for glory
And he that was left better fly
And over the line crossed 179
Hey Up Santa Anna, they're killing your soldiers below
So the rest of Texas will know
And remember the Alamo

Jim Bowie lay dying, the blood and the sweat in his eyes
But his knife at the ready to take him a few in reply
Young Davy Crocket lay laughing and dying
The blood and the sweat in his eyes
For Texas and freedom a man was more willing to die
Hey Up Santa Anna, they're killing your soldiers below
So the rest of Texas will know
And remember the Alamo

A courier came to a battle once bloody and loud
And found only skin and bones where he once left a crowd
Fear not little darling of dying
If this world be sovereign and free
For we'll fight to the last for as long as liberty be
Hey Up Santa Anna, they're killing your soldiers below
So the rest of Texas will know
And remember the Alamo

Me likey muzic. But lately:

It's hi, ho, hey, I am the bold marauder!
It's hi, ho, hey, I am the white destroyer!
For I will buy you silver and gold and I will bring you treasure,
And I will bring a widowing flag and I will be your lover;
And I will show you grotto and cave and sacrificial altar,
And I will show you blood on the stone and I will be your mentor.
And night will be our darling and fear will be our name.
It's hi, ho, hey, I am the bold marauder!
It's hi, ho, hey, I am the white destroyer!
For I will take you out by the hand and lead you to the hunter,
And I will show you thunder and steel and I will be your teacher;
And we will dress in helmet and sword, and dip our tongues in slaughter,
And we will sing a warrior's song and lift the praise of murder.
And Christ will be our darling and fear will be our name.
It's hi, ho, hey, I am the bold marauder!
It's hi, ho, hey, I am the white destroyer!
For I will sour the winds on high and I will soil the rivers,
And I will burn the grain in the fields and I will be your mother;
And I will go to ravage and kill and I will go to plunder,
And I will take a Fury to wife and I will be your father.
And Death will be our darling and fear will be our name.
It's hi, ho, hey, I am the bold marauder!
It's hi, ho, hey, I am the white destroyer!

The best combat music ever, as far as I'm concerned, is Disturbed's Indestructible:

Another mission
The powers have called me away
Another time
To carry the colors again
My motivation
An oath I've sworn to defend
To win the honor
Of coming back home again
No explanation
Will matter after we begin
Another dark destroyer that's buried within
My true vocation
And know my unfortunate friend
You will discover
A war you're unable to win

I'll have you know
That I've become...

Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side
A terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I'm an indestructible master of war

Another reason
Another cause for me to fight
Another fuse uncovered
Now, for me to light
My dedication
To all that I've sworn to protect
I carry out my orders
With not a regret
A declaration
Embedded deep under my skin
A permanent reminder
Of how we began
No hesitation
When I am commanding the strike
You need to know
That you're in for the fight of your life

You will be shown
How I've become....

Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side
A terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I'm an indestructible master of war

I'm...

Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side
A terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I am indestructible (indestructible)

Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side
A terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive

Metallica. I've got the best of their albums on shuffle, and so far that's worked wonders for my play style. With the in game soundtrack I tend to move things along at a crawl, but with appropriate music my team has been moving like tigers.

I tend to listen to many different bands when rocking JA2. Mostly metal like Solution .45, Hypocrisy, Bloodbath, Ihsahn, Amorphis, Ex Deo, Deicide, Opeth, Scar Symmetry and many more. If I'm in the mood, I listen to something slower like Nightingale which is one of the best prog rock bands I've heard in a very long time, some Katatonia, Joe Satriani, Guthrie Govan, Steve Vai... so much I can't remember them all.

But regardless, I listen to what I happen to put on. Very Happy
