@PasHancock

I am glad that you liked the music.

What was your favorite part about it?
What was your least favorite part about it?

I would really love to add an additional mercenary from Asia. The game does not have very many representatives from that continent other than China and Russia.

I forgot music in there Sad since i wasnt playing for long time with this Mod like 2 months,i gonna download and install it again soon.Waiting for Version 2.0

Oh also,is this Mod Uninstallable?

Yes, the mod is un-installable. Simply delete the MUSIC folder completely, but why would you want to do that!

Looking good, except I find this rather hard to read.taoteching

I find myself focusing more on the symbol than the text. Perhaps you could try a less contrasting colour combo, or just have the symbol as a feint outline. It needs to be really subtle so it doesn't draw the eye away from the text.

Thanks for your interest T_Bolt in Tao's Audible Oasis: Eastern Influence or Eastern Influence.

Yes, the interface definitely needs refined.

Version 1.0 does not contain any changes except for music though, so why not try that while you wait for 2.0?

Here's some more compatible music. (You sometimes find goodies in the strangest places.)

Everything isn't a perfect fit but most of it's pretty good.

What color should I make the beds? I originally changed them to red, but I do not know if it looks right.

I also was wanting to add Eastern Influence to the main menu, but I ran into a problem where I could not reproduce "Influence like the word "Eastern". I simply could not reproduce the way it looks. Any suggestions?

@TAO
You can try using a soft blur or 25% - 50% dither filters on your TAO-symbol, which should generally increase readability of any text displayed on top of your background image.

Regarding coloring - You could try to apply a unified color scheme for all of your graphics, for instance an "earth theme" with basic earth-related colors (such as sand-, beige- & brown shades), slightly modifying color tones & properties, rather than introducing entirely different colors for each object on your interface (like red for beds, green for buttons & white for background symbols). That way you will get a more harmonic look & feel.

Regarding your asian soundtrack - are your music tracks & sound effects self-made or do they come from a third party?

Regarding the main menu text / title problem - have you tried using an Asian-style font & simply embedding your desired text to the main menue's background graphic? Or did you mean to edit the actual buttons in the main menu?

Best,
-elorian

Right.

Maybe in the future. Winter time may be suitable. Modding this game is extremely demanding time wise.

I would like to release some of the expansions of Eastern Influence that I use in my own game. These expansions include interface sound effects and additional graphics. I also have an incomplete character that could be released.

Yes, only with coding skills though. Also, the battles and non battles scenarios have more than one file for them and are kind of random. If you could duplicate this in other areas of the code it could work.

Hi guys,

tao, I just wanted to say that you made a good job, the music is very pleasant to listen to, and it was high time to get the original vanilla music replaced. Bruce Lee style, the vanilla music perforated my brain not by strength but by the persistence of water.

Thank you for all your hard work!

Now, here come my little problems:

I play JA 2 1.13 from Linux, via the windows emulator WINE and it works like a charm. Now, for some reason, my WINE cannot really handle your .bat file, probably because of directory problems, but what do I know.

I tried having a look at the .bat myself, hoping to be able to understand what it attempts to do, so that perhaps I could do it manually. But no, of course, I underestimated again what a newbie I am --> I don't really get it.

So, what does it do? Does it convert the MP3 files into WAVs using the lame.exe command or something? How does it work? And what else does the bat do to install the mod?

I am assuming this is an issue all linux-newbies WINE users will encounter, and although I don't think we make for more than perhaps 7% of your fan base, would you be so kind as to throw a bone at us and explain how to install your mod manually?

Pleeeease?

*does the rapid eye-blinking trick*

Thank you for your compliments sir.

Now to answer your questions.

I have included all files in the music folder.
After one places the "music" folder into the "data" folder of the jagged alliance 2 directory, one must run decode.bat.
I used MP3s to save players download time.
Decode.exe converts those MP3s into WAVs.
Whenever the conversions are finished, decode asks you if you would like to delete the original MP3 files.
Now there should be a "music" folder in the "data" folder of your Jagged Alliance 2 directory.
The "music" folder should now contain: Decode.bat, Lame.exe, TAO Read me 1.2, 12 WAV files, and possibly 12 MP3 files.

So a way around your problem would simply be to convert those MP3s with another application. There are loads of free programs available for free online.

Thanks, Smile

As for that, I am unsure if you can manage to get AoA Audio Extractor running under Wine. This would be the best free program I know for converting audio files but it is probably Windows software. If it works on a Linux OS, converting files would be easy. Otherwise try to ask around the Linux community, I can't imagine there is no audio conversion program available, it's only about converting the compact MP3 files to JA2-readable WAVs, the rest is irrelevant.
