Posted on behalf of our friend "smeagol":

Lately the idea for a small summer convention weekend came up in the IRC channel.
The date will probably be a weekend either in June or July, the location will be near Bremen, Germany (yupp, that's my place, in case you were wondering...).

What to expect... well, first of all, of course meeting the people that work on the game and play it, some BBQ, booze, hanging out... just the usual. The basic idea is to spent a nice weekend together and actually meet the people that we spent such a huge amount of time with (details will follow, as soon as I know how many are interested at all in such a "convention").

I'll probably even hand out a special JA2 1.13 T-shirt that will be specifically made for the event, for the person who had the longest travel distance.

To see if there is any interest in such a thing, I'd like all those who are interested to drop a line in this thread.

I used to go the other way quite a couple of times. Mostly via these routes:

Bremen - Calais takes at least 7-8 hours depending on traffic in Belgium (Ferry is quick, only 1.5 hours, but Dover is at the completely wrong end... and I always hated the M25 around London...)

Bremen - Amsterdam takes about 3 hours, but the Ferry takes forever (leaves Amsterdam at ~17:00 and arrives next day at about 10:00 in Newcastle).

For a quick week-end trip, Flying might be a better idea. I think there are even direct flights to Bremen (either from Glasgow or London,I think... not sure about that, never used a plane). And the trip from Bremen to Ritterhude (where the summer convention will actually happen) only takes 10 minutes via train. The train station is just a 2 minute walk from my place away.

Try it. You will be a scooter legend. Hell, you could round up a scooter gang and travel Europe. I would join, but my scooter is in a Spanish millionaire's garage.

I agree. A weekend at summer would be the best option, I think. And I hope Scheinworld will be with us.

Hmm... Hostels might be difficult. We got some room in the house (for abnout 4-5 people, I'd say...) and a more or less big garden to put up some tents.

Btw, thought Tais wanted to post the date, but it looks like that he didn't... the date for the convention seems most likely to be the Pentecost (Pfingsten for the Germans and Pinksteren for ze Dutch) weekend in June (so around 10.-13. of June, depending on when we actually want to start...).

Unless there's heavy objection to this, the date will stay. Location is still my place near Bremen (small city called Ritterhude, about some 7km away from centre of Bremen, have a train station in 2 minutes walking distance... more informtion on this will be handed out in a PM to the people that actually want to come, so make sure to drop a line in this thread).

If things go according to plan, I'll be staying in Bremen between June 7th and June 16th, so there's a good chance I'll be able to make it.
