oops, my mistake.
Anyway Im going to post a quick tutorial that will explain posing at least a bit.
Note that once models are finished creating new animations and replacing old ones can be done seperatly at the same time.

BunsEarlyer this thread I had suggested to replace the old anims first because doing it the other way round would cause doubled work: When you had added new animations and then come up with the idea to change the overall appearance of the characters you again would need to change the new animations additionally.
Easy for you to say, as you are not the one who'll do all the hard work. If you would actually realize how MUCH work it really is, maybe you would speak differently. Instead of waiting for replacing all animations maybe forever, which can never happen as well, coders like me could already start working on the new stuff.
Taro:
Think about it, you would spend half year by intense work on something what already exists. Or a day on something entirely new.
I don't *need* the current anims to be replaced (speaking for myself only), they fill their role ok - they show me what's going on on the battlefield. While replacing them with something better might be nice, it is nothing essentially necessary.
New animations, on the other hand, are something you would be praised to heavens for.
EDIT: I am too hasty with clicking "submit" button, sorry.

Would you please be so kind and take a look at what Taro is planning to do instead of spamming him with your demands or bashing me when making suggestions how he could save himself additional work by doing what he is planning to do:
TaroNote that once models are finished creating new animations and replacing old ones can be done seperatly at the same time. Taro is planning to make new models which then can be used to make new anims.

Gentlemen, there is no need to quarrel with each other. I do realize that replacing old animations is huge ammount of work, but it will have to be done at some point. However NOTHING will stop us if we decide to create new animations first.
I finished a quick tutorial that explains basics of how to use my model. I encourage you to give it a shot, the more people will try the bigger the chance that someone will get it. And if not then you wont loose anything, so dont be shy and try.
NOTE: MODEL IS STILL UNFINISHED!

You are right, new animations should have priorty over replacing old ones. However in "meantime" we can replace most used old animations like movement with rifle, but without any pressure, it can be done when we will have some free time to spare.
Check out my little tutorial.

So is the tutorial any good?
BTW: I think I know how to fix problem with missing materials, we wont be using textures anyway as you cant see any details after scaling down. That is why I use blender material like on hair.

Hi Taro. Your model of the female merc is based on content from the Blender model repository, right? Have you researched the license agreement, I couldn't find anything on the download page you linked to with the lo-poly models you used as a basis. I would assume that they are basically completely free, but just wanted to be sure. Thank you.

3rd year game design student here.
Very tired from late night exam study.
Have a few years experience with 3DS Max, a legal student version. I've got a little bit of experience with animation and 3D modelling, not good at texturing or optimizing yet, but well...
It seems like I could create a 3D model and then EVERY animation for that model (VERY time consuming, but 3D modelling/animating is my stronger skill)
Or
I could add more animations to the current 2D sprites (Less time, but I have no 2D modelling/animating experience)
Is that the current situation?
If so, does anyone know how I would get a hand on the current 2D sprites and how I would add animations? I know how to animate 3D models, but 2D sprites from an old game? No idea. It's like frame by frame yeah? It seems like a tougher skill than 3D. Ah whatever, I'm rambling.
Oh hang on, reading the other pages.

So from the thread info I've seen, Logical body types was abandoned, and LOBOT was too.
Can I still attempt to make animations in 3D or will they not be able to be put into the game?
Sorry if I'm asking the same old questions everyone else is.
