hi,

I started my game with "drop all" enabled, and now I want to turn it off... I know it's now removed from the Options page, so I've been looking for it in the various ini files, without success. Can someone direct me to where I can find it?

thanks!

There is none. Only the option at game start.

That's a bummer. Now I have to start again.

What's the rationale for making this switch unavailable, when so many other game-altering options are exposed in the ini and xml files? I have the ability to remove weapons, to alter enemy progress, to increase mine revenue, to make the enemy weaker and my mercs stronger (or vice versa!) in many different ways - but not this?

It's an option which changes how the entire universe works, man! Messing with things like that makes black holes appear at random.

That does seem to be the thinking.

If it relates to gameplay in a way that other options don't, in terms of balance etc, then maybe just turn it off altogether for the user (I mean not even make it an option in the interface), but make it available (like everything else) in the configuration files. Thinking about it, I'm not even sure it belongs in the pre-game preferences at all alongside sci-fi/realistic or novice/expert, ironman etc. I don't think of drop-all as really being a "for the life of the game" option in the way those other ones are.

I had simulair with the Enemies-Drop-All.
As usual, did not do the research. It was originally changed in STOMP and merged with the main branch last July.

Original reasoning:
Sandro
you choose between enemy drop all items/drop based on xmls (which therefore also cannot be changed during campaign).
Well, this might be a minor issue, I still want to mention this (mostly for those anxious people, who fear to not be able to change something whenever they want to ). These options are somehow breaking the balance of item/merc management whe nchanged during campaign, that's why I picked them to move to the revamped start-new-game screen.
Sandro

About the drop all - this option changes the difficulty of ongoing campaign a lot. It's more like to be able to change the game difficulty level from "expert" to "novice" (or vice versa) during the game. Such option therefore is suitable more to only be decided on game start (as challenge maker) than present in preferences for everyday use.
Such challenge making options (those unable to change during the game) makes every campaign more interesting and different.. and there should be more of them.
Basically, not enough people complained, now it is as it is Razz
You might be able to rally enough support to change it back though.

Well explane me this:

AIMNAS v18 had that option in preferences.
AIMNAS v19 did NOT had that option anymore.

Just disable it in the JA2_Options.ini as default!

There are no AIMNAS specific EXEs. You're tripping balls, man.

1. you - the ini is all about the exe

2. you - this time as a target

The ingame preferences screen is rendered directly by the exe. Ja2_settings.ini saves the values of those settings but not which ones appear.

Why do people love to post incoherent (and more often than not wrong) responses in unrelated places?
