Multiplayer Guide PDF

Just the first draft of a newbie guide focused on multiplayer in 1.13. JA2 can really be an intimidating game at first glance, especially by today's standards. After going through a lot of pain and suffering trying to get some close friends of mine into it, I just decided to write this little PDF up I could thrust at whoever my next target turns out to be.

Maybe some of you will find it useful, or at least useful in converting your friends. Or you might find that it sucks. Either way, you're stuck with it now.

nice guide:

btw, synchronizing game directory in the host means:
the server can put any files or folders including files in the multiplayer/my server folder. if the option is checked on the host screen, those files are sent to all the clients and therefore all clients would use the same files (xmls, ini files and so on. whatever the server has put in the folder).

there is also a multiplayer how-to ib the Docs folder. take a look at the file.

greets

Oh great! You guys did a fantastic job as far as customization goes - that's really the crowning accomplishment (outside of multiplayer). Just to clarify, does this mean that I could take my modified Options.ini file, put it in the multiplayer/my server folder, and then those changed settings would work in our MP game (increased weapon/explosive damage, etc.)?

exactly, that is it.

it is explained in detail in one of the multiplayer help files in the Docs folder.

edit: you could also put custom maps in the folder and then all clients would have the same custom map when playing Smile

I've tried toying with making custom maps, but I've been nervous about not wanting to mess with the original install mapfiles. Is there documentation about how to do this safely, or files to duplicate, etc?

Yo DigitalAdhesive, Make a copy of the file and use the map editor on the original.

If you are using 1.13 you can start with Data-1.13\maps\a9.dat for example.

Search this board for tips and tricks on map editing, post questions after you play around for a while.
