One slight possibility is that you are using Win7 (or Vista) and have installed the game in the program files directory (or another UAC enabled one). When the game saves, it saves in the VirtualStore directory and does not replace the file that exists in the saves directory, but when it loads it uses the files in saves. So, if this is truly the case, try copying the game folder to another directory (c:\games\ja2) and see if the problem persists.

Thanks! I will give that a try when I get home tonight. The original JA2:UC ('09) was played on a XP computer. I recently bought a Win 7 machine, installed JA2:UC on it and started playing for a game day or two. I stumbled across the '09 saves and swapped the saved games and found that I could play the '09 saves but not actually save my game progress. I think the JA2:UC was installed in the program files directory so I will try moving it to see if that clears up the problem.

Again thanks!

Well, that was an adventure!

I'm still fooling around with various moves and file replacements but haven't been successful yet. Guess I'll just keep fiddling until I get it or go back and start again. I was about 60+ days into the game in my '09 efforts and half the fun is to document the event but I can't locate the '09 write-up so I might just go back and start again.

I still have a HUGE backlog of games to play but the JA2 series was always comfort food when I didn't want to get bogged down with details.

Thanks again!
