Hello,
TaisI vote for adding this guy to standard 1.13, period!
Sorry Tais, but I can not agree with you here.
If we would do so v1.13 can not be considered as credible "modding base" any longer. Spooky has no "official" background and is not related in any form to the original JA2 game, UB or WF and so it's not the same like the other mercenaries we've already added to v1.13 like the UB mercs Stogie, Gaston etc. or lately the guys from Wildfire which is even controversial (!) like Monk, Henning & Co.
And what or better 'Who?' is the next on the wish-list? Should we add Jubilee from Urban Chaos/Deidranna Lives, Wildcat from Vengeance, Havoc from Renegade Republic or the other SOG'69 RPC's to v1.13 as well?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Spooky myself and Becoming X made a great job back in the good old times when he created him, but in my opinion Spooky should never become a part of the official v1.13 game and should stay a "mod-character" like the other characters I mentioned.
But it is a good cause when he is optionally available in a separate download for the users who want to play with him in v1.13.
Best regards; Schein

I have also made Spooky a M.E.R.C. guy instead of a AIM guy. That way, you won't notice that he doesn't have specific sound files for his hiring, re-hiring, firing, or salary raises...
He actually should have those sound files, if there not there i can add them. He's NPC speech is suitable for them.
I thought i had them all covered, but it was a while ago when i started him, i can have a look at the weekend myself, but if anyone notices missing sounds let me know.
As for the portrait, maybe Kazuya can work his magic.
P.S. Thanks for the info on the sound pack etc...

Hello Tais,
You know I appreciate your effort for the community very much and you also helped me with updating Kermi's archive in the past a few times and I'm grateful for that, but I have to say your last posting style is really arrogant and ignorant.
Comments like "[...] if you want a modding base go help develop SMP, that's a modding base [...]" are just not okay.
I love JA2 and v1.13 probably in the same way as you do, but more from a modders point of view and I can tell you that it is very time consuming to adapt a mod to v1.13 which is always in progress. Don't get me wrong that's absolutely okay and it keeps our favourite game and this community alive, but when you say me now that v1.13 is no modding base anymore but a mod all modmakers or modding interested people who are left (many have been already disappeared, because of such way of thinking and attitude) can directly stop their work now.
We just copy the best files from all existing mods which have been ever made (Urban Chaos, Deidranna Lives, Renegade Republic etc.) into current v1.13 and say to all remaining modmakers: "Please stop working on any new mods, just give us the new files you created and we implement them into the new uber-mod v1.13 in case "we" think it's good enough."
Are you the one who has the right to decide how v1.13 should be and all other people who don't share your opinion about the future of v1.13 are just "whiners" as you call it?
Well, I'm proud to be a whiner then!

Scheinworld.. but I have to say your last posting style is really arrogant and ignorant
lol wut? All I am doing is throwing out my opinion about 1.13 in a sane discussion.
ScheinworldComments like "[...] if you want a modding base go help develop SMP, that's a modding base [...]" are just not okay.
It's the truth, 1.13 is not a modding base anymore, it has become a mod on it's own, with only one goal, bring the best features/additions to ja2, wether it be code changes, new items or well known mercs from alternative versions of ja2.
The discussion we're having now is wether we should or should not add a character from a mod that's part of the pit's and ja2's glorious modding history.
As far as I know SMP was created because 1.13 was becoming to much of a chaos (hard to keep up with changes) because of requests for changes by modders and the constant amount of additions by coders, a new base version of ja2 was needed to create a stable ground for mods.
ScheinworldI love JA2 and v1.13 probably in the same way as you do, but more from a modders point of view and I can tell you that it is very time consuming to adapt a mod to v1.13 which is always in progress.
I started programming for 1.13 because of a certain well known modder's requests so dont say I dont know how modders have to struggle to get the game to do what they want because I have been hanging on IRC with him for around three months continuously and I'm pretty sure that they're very much honored to see their hard work end up in 1.13
ScheinworldWe just copy the best files from all existing mods which have been ever made (Urban Chaos, Deidranna Lives, Renegade Republic etc.) into current v1.13 and say to all remaining modmakers: "Please stop working on any new mods, just give us the new files you created and we implement them into the new uber-mod v1.13 then in case "we" think it's good enough."
We're talking about a character from a mod that hasn't seen development in several years as far as I know, It's a mod that's part of ja2 modding history or could be put in a hall of fame, to me it's more a reward for all the hard work that was done on creating this character by giving him a new life inside 1.13...
ScheinworldAre you the one who has the right to decide how v1.13 should be and all other people who don't share your opinion about the future of v1.13 just "whiners" as you call it?
Do you decide then? and the only people that I called whiners are the ones that want to turn 1.13 into vanilla ja2 (and thereby make it useless for them to even install 1.13)
ScheinworldWell, I'm proud to be a whiner then!
I think you should read again what I said because I think you have missed my point there

SlaxTerminal Introducing Mercenaries Everywhere - TIME, the latest and greatest recruiting alternative!
(About time some new sites started showing up, don't you think?)
The know how has been placed via Jazz' work. Why not? Solves the problem of having new mercenaries. We could have new mercs hire-able from the new site, that is also optional via ini.

Okay, I casted some spells and everything is ready for the sti creation. However, I have a question, I'd like to ask, before I start. As some of you might have noticed, spookys 48x43 face sticks out, when it is compared to the rest of the AIM roster. There is a simply reason for this. Spookys head is smaller than the rest and his eyeline is a lot lower than the rest. My question is now, should I create a new 48x43 picture that is a bit more "zoomed in"? To show you what I mean, I created a little picture. The left Spooky is the one that I would create, while the right Spooky is the original picture.
I also created a new bigface picture, because in the old one, Spooky is out in the open and the background is rather bright. I created a version, where he is in the middle of a dark jungle. Personally, I think this is more fitting his character and putting him in front of a dark greenish background saves some colours for the palette.
The new anims for the 90x100 are done, except that I didn't create the eyebrows up and eyebrows down frames, because that would be rather pointless. So what do you guys think?
