BTW, can you also make the missing background for Len. I think Scheinworld mentioned that, that Len has only a black background on the bigface picture AFAIK.

I have seen it. It's Stogie btw. He's a bit tricky, because I can't get a proper conture where his hair is supposed to be, but I'm working on it.

gotta change spooky's name to whiney...because he has no equipment..i outfitted him with the ghilli suit and the best vietnam era rifle in iov..the camo'd silenced m16 mod..its coolness 6...he whines that its a capgun..so i gave the twit a coolness 7 scar..still whines..wtf does he want?..i cant give him a coolness 10 cause i zapped out all huge caliber guns from my ja2 sessions..coolness'd em to zero..too unbalanced for fun with bmg's and lapua's..

The check is about 'Deadliness' not coolness if I remember correctly. Look into his profile for 'main gun attractiveness' or something like that and chose accordingly.

Would you/somebody pls point me to a HDIW or explain to me what's it about the 'main gun attractiveness' thingie (noticed it in the profile editor and figured roughly that's the merc's favourite gun) - But what does that mean in game?

It's really straight forward:
1) find the weapon with highest ubDeadliness in a merc's inventory
2) multiply that deadliness with (50 + morale) / 100 (works out to +/-50%)
3) if the result is lower than bMainGunAttractiveness/2 -> complain

@Tbird Checked the Ghillie suit? Spooky actually uses the cap gun quote for armor as well. Scope, Ivan and Len all complained to me about their equipment before and I found they were all complaining about their armors. (Scope complaining on her Ghillie, while Len and Ivan complaining on their field-ops Dyneema)

Hello Kazuya,

Thank you for your work on Spooky, but I have a question concerning his face. Maybe you or someone else here can tell me what's the meaning of the brown stripe above his right shoulder (from our perspective)?

Yeah, you could be right with your assumption, but I'm still not sure, because his original background is surely not of the best quality and I can't interpret any details there. I think it would look better if at least from Spooky's animated faces especially from his 48x43 one the "gunsling" would be removed. The brown stripe/shadow with the black background looks a little bit weird to me. Well, at least that's my perception and your decision

I was just double checking Spooky's speechfiles to make sure they were ok. The reason he seems to be whining so much is that his line for "Levelling Up" is mixed up... i've fixed it now.

But that is the line he uses when something is broken, not the quality of the gun.

Do I understand correctly that the way the files are, if someone offered a download similar to this one here by Off_Topic but for another character, both downloads would be mutually exclusive ?
If so this way of adding mercs is not the solution.
Unless we have an easy way to add mercs individually, it makes sense to include those already made, like Spooky, to the regular installation roster.
I understand that some people dislike such and such additional merc, but, come on, the annoyance of briefly seeing the mug of an unwanted character while browsing the AIM or MERC site is NOTHING compared to the pleasure of having a character you want for the entire campaign.

I agree with Friendly Fire. I would also add that the annoyance of seeing ANY unwanted merc can be easily and quickly circumvented by editing AIM or MERC availability.xml. It would take about 5 seconds for someone to remove Spooky from the game.

perhaps somebody could "convince" (by the means of instruments of torture if necessary) a coder to write a "dial a mec utility".

Which, if run, adds mercs (out of a pool folder) to the AIM and M*E*RC roosters.

This would end all discussions and everybody could:

a) donate his* mercs to the pool folder

b) happily choose what he* wants





* I'm using the male form due to the majority of the users - sorry Jen :bunny:

Was this ment for me?
If so, i used a clean SCI 4915 and copied the Spooky files in Data 1.13
Start a new game, just for testing to see if it works.
Well as soon he starts to talk the game crashes.
Correction, when move/walk.

I really don't know why that editor substitutes item names there. I can assure you that the check for armor works in a similar (albeit slightly more complex, as all armors are rated against spectra) way to the weapon check and only tests the protection value, not if it's a special armor.

He now has speech for every occasion. I also corrected a few mistakes.

Thanks to Kazuya for his very speedy and much improved graphics. I stuck with the original one's he uploaded.

You will also find Reuban, Spike, and Postie on this AIM roster, they are fully implemented apart from sorting out there starting gear. I didn't realise Dimitri had added JA 1 mercs to the game, i had put a good bit of work in to them so continued with it, most likely i will merge his work with this. This is an ongoing process, so just delete their files if you do not want them.

Any errors can be reported here.

Note that the 'ranger' trait represents some kind of professional park ranger / hunter, not Army Rangers or equivalent units.
