Using official release 4870. Never saw this happen all these years in dozens of mods:

- After lugging an entire truckload of weapons and stuff to San Mona, and selling $15000 of it to Tony, I decided to leave Hamous IN the store to sell the rest. Kind of cheat, since he doesn't have the leadership to pass Hans...

- Next day, Tony is there, and Hamous goes to business. Surprise: Tony is selling everything at $1. Yes, a weapons dollar store!

- Furthermore, everything Hamous tries to sell him is rejected. Guns, ammo... Tony is not interested.

- So, I bought some nice stuff a $1 a pop, but couldn't sell anything.

I don't remember using this "cheat" before, so it could not be a new 4870 bug. Has anyone seen it?

Sounds like Tony's Merchant XML file has been corrupted in some manner. Items not on the file (and not otherwise set as a class to buy by other merchant behaviour) will not be bought. Any items that happen to be in the Merchant's in-game inventory, but not on the file, end up being $1. This happens quite a bit with attachments that are stripped from a gun, but do not exist in Tony's XML. In your case, it sounds like the file may have been emptied or replaced. Have you been trying some modded XML's lately?

I've once run into this problem, too.
Exactly the same way you describe it, just with another merc. Actually, the merc seemed to be irrelevant.
It was only one time in 10+ years of JA2 gaming and it was with official v1.13 release 4870 *unmodded*.
Can this be coincidence?

I guess you're right. You, sir, are a genius.

I was using the Gamedir from subversion, and I guess it isn't compatible with the release .exe.

I found that Data-1.13/TableData/NPCInventory/TonyInventory.xml shrunk A LOT in current svn trunk (112827 bytes in release, 7238 in svn).

Teaches me to not mix & match SVN with an older ja2.exe. But it is the first time it bit me...
Just restored the release .xml and everything is back to normal.

It is, however, a quick easy cheat to buy everything from Tony quite cheap Wink

SOLVED.
