I got tired of shuffling through the zillions of different miscellaneous items all stuck to that one last filter button in BR's Misc section.

So I made some new buttons to reduce the clutter:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/76356832/JA2/BR%20Misc%20Filter%20Button%203.jpg
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/76356832/JA2/BR%20Misc%20Filter%20Button%204.jpg
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/76356832/JA2/BR%20Misc%20Filter%20Button%205.jpg
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/76356832/JA2/BR%20Misc%20Filter%20Button%206.jpg

I'm open to suggestions for better text on the buttons.

They work with the Built-in Attachment Class (attachmentClass) tag in items.xml. The attachment tag must also be set to 1 for the new buttons and 0 to have items show up in the existing Misc button now.

Here is a quick breakdown of the categories they encompass:

Quote:

#define BR_MISC_FILTER_OPTICS (AC_SCOPE | AC_SIGHT)
#define BR_MISC_FILTER_SIDE_BOTTOM (AC_LASER | AC_FOREGRIP | AC_BIPOD)
#define BR_MISC_FILTER_MUZZLE (AC_SUPPRESSOR | AC_EXTENDER)
#define BR_MISC_FILTER_STOCK AC_STOCK
#define BR_MISC_FILTER_INTERNAL (AC_MAGWELL | AC_INTERNAL | AC_EXTERNAL)

The "Other Att." button catches all attachment classes not listed above.

Very cool.

You should fix the links to the large pics though, from the second on they all point to the second.

Thanks - Fixed Smile

EDIT: Since there are no comments and this is a pretty straightforward and non-breaking feature, I'm going to go ahead and commit it. We can change the button text, etc. later.

Suggestion for button's text:
"Grip/LAM" or "Hold/LAM" or "Pod/LAM" instead of "Side/Bot.".

This is really cool, I really wish there were more sorting options in BR's website though. Like sort by price, or damage, or range etc, but this is definitely a nice addition anyway.

This will make finding specific things a lot easier. Good work! Hmmm... Maybe symbols would go better to both explain what the button means and at the same time make the space used for the button smaller.
You know? Like the icon for a foregrip for items like that.

Another way would be that we have main categories (Guns/ammo/armor/misc/used) categories and subcategories:

Guns>sniper rifles>semiautomatic/bolt action
Misc>Grenades>20mm/25mm/40mm/43mm
Misc>LBE>Backpack/Combatpack/Leg rig

So simply a search for more detail.

If that's not an option, I would suggest limiting the text on the buttons to four or five letters at maximum.

Maybe use dropdowns instead of buttons? That'd clear up the clutter and easily allow for 3 hierarchies.

As for your proposals Soto:
Guns>... would be rather easy to check, and given the abundance of SRs in some mods might be useful.
Might be straying too far: Would it be totally nuts to rethink the Weapon Classes and Types after more than a decade? Stuff like DMR/'classic' SR/AMR, HBAR/LMG/GPMG or (Sub)Carbine/AR/BR

Misc>Gren>... difficult as the grenade calibres aren't really distinguishable by the game, I'd see splitting launchable and thrown as an option though, maybe even go down by 'effect' (fire, gas, smoke, he)

Misc>LBE>... definitely a good idea.
