Hey!

Im playin JA since its beginnings, with JA1 and after periods abstinence again and again. I have always been interested in modified Ja 2 and i really welcome 1.13 and all the new stuff too. This food stuff (flugente thnx!) for ex. has alwasy been on my wish-list since years.

Im not a programmer, so i hope you will have patience and appreciation with my following need for advice..
I wonder bout the possibility creating a new health an damage system. I would like damage / wounds / injuries to have a kind of more drastically and permanent. But ive got no idea how it could work out?!

So my question to all of you - Is it possible, to edit the damage-sytem the way i want? For example...
1) A Merc get shot, he loses about 50 health points...
2) Hes able to bandage the wound and stops bleeding...
3) But hes not able to regenerate this wound with a medic-set.
4) Only a) time will refresh his health to near old maximum
b) a very good doctor could be able (over 50 doc points or so)

Another question in this context...
Is it possible to make point-loss in generally (back) to permanent and how? Before 1.13 the doctoring wasn

Hi Kapuze, welcome to the pit!

If you want permanent losses, easiest way is to not perform surgery on your mercs Smile

You can also lower the amount of healing a doctor gives via the ini... or only perform the doctor assignment with real doctors.

Basically, all your ideas are realtively easy to code, but I don't really see anyone implementing this... a permanently blind merc is effectively useless in combat, so why bother?

Hey,

Thanx Flugente. Well i just like the idea to make injuries more persisting.. This would effect to play much more careful and there will be some veterans anyway, who cant go in battle any longer; but are able to do some base stuff like repairing stuff or teaching etc.
Instead of - Oh XY was shot, doc will heal him/her, i will be glad that one will have just survived, for example and hes/shes a month or so off the frontline.

Already tried to lower minimal "natural healing speed divivsor" down to zero, but doesnt seem possible, to lower it down 1.. Why not?

Is there a way to allow healing bandagaged-wounds only mercs with doc-trade?!

I also could give it a try to change function of medic-packs..!?

Assuming you are playing with new traits:
In Skills_Settings.INI set DOCTORING_SPEED_MODIFIER = -XX to a very high negative value (I'd try -100). This does not prevent any merc from being set to doctor assignment without medical trait - but only medics/docs should be able to achieve noticable results in healing.
(If docs as well cannot heal then, adjust DOCTOR_ASSIGNMENT_BONUS_PERCENT = XX to 100 in order to counter the above modifier for with the medic trait)
