So ive been playing this game a few days and have really come to the end of my tether, this game is simply too hard for me lol. Anyone has made a mod to dumb down enemies i.e lower stats and less uber gear, im only 25% into map and already the enemies i face are so good my squads get pwned every time. I have installed some mods and see that i can change values through main-character.txt but there seems to be so many types of enemy im unsure how to gimp them. Any help appreciate to make this game easier and not harder as everyone else seems to want ^^

Disclaimer: The first two paragraphs of this response have basically nothing to do with mods.

If you've only been playing for a few days, you may not be aware that the more time elapses in-game, the stronger the enemies become (both in numbers and in quality). So, for example, hitting Cambria on Day 2 is much, much different from hitting it on Day 20.

If you're playing Vanilla and running into trouble only 25% of the way into things, it might be that you're simply taking things too slowly. It's an easy trap to fall into (I did in my first game, too), because you want to build up your strength before hitting a new target

Thanks for the tips Land, i tried first off disarming enemies completely this led to even more lol moments as they calmly swarm my guys and beat them to death instead. Next i tried giving them lame weaponry like .38 specials, this doesnt seem to work either as they wont equip them and continue to melee with fists. Gimping stats doesnt seem to have much effect on their ability to kill with a single blow either, anyone can give me some tips on how to reequip enemies in the .txt files to marginalise their effectiveness v.s my mercs would be great.

I'd prefer working on my tactics and playing skills instead of toning down the game, but that's just me.

Most effective in disabling enemies IMHO would be reduce their perception, remove any armour and reduce strength (less hitpoints and dealing less damage in melee) as well as agility (reducing stamina and reaction's speed.
