Hy guys,
maybe a few of you already know, that you can play the Unfinished Business campaign with 1.13 and most of the UB-Mods (Vietnam, Shady Jobs, ...) with the latest features of 1.13. There are more than 40 UB mods that have been ported to work with 1.13.
Here I will give you a step-by-step instructions to get Unfinished Business and the additional UB-Mods running.
1.) Install JA2
2.) Get the latest GameDir files from SVN. You can use the tool "TortoiseSVN" to get those files. Just connect to the following URL and download all the files in a temporary folder.

3.) After downloading copy/paste the files in your JA2 installation directory and overwrite any existing files. The download from the SVN GameDir already included the 1.13 "Unfinished Business" campaign. Just be sure to have the folder "Data-UB" in your JA2 installation directory.
4.) All the UB-Mods are additional and optional downloads. You can also get them from SVN. Download in a temporary folder. Here is the url:

5.) Once the download is finished, copy the MODs you want to play from the "Data-UB\AddOns" folder in your JA2 installation directory "Data-UB\AddOns" folder. Once that is done, you also have to copy the profiles from the "Profiles\UserProfile_UnfinishedBusiness\Addons" to your JA2 installation directory "Profiles\UserProfile_UnfinishedBusiness\Addons" folder.
6.) Now you are ready to go. Just start the "INI Editor" (INI Editor.exe inside your JA2 installation directory)
a.) Select the UB Mod you want to play from the "Select JA2 v1.13 MOD" Drop Down List
b.) Select the correct executable (plain 1.13 or 1.13 UB, or you can even select the proper Map Editor executable file if you want to start the map editor) from the "Start Executable File" Drop Down List
c.) Click "Start" and the game (or the map editor) will start
7.) Most of those mods only work with "Old Inventory and Old Attachment system". So if you start a new game, you should NOT change this option in the "Initial Game Settings". Just use the default preselected option for "Inventory / Attachment". See the screenshot below:

I always waned to play shady job, but i didnt like low resolution
now i can give it another try
EDIT: bug reports
dont know maybe i did something wrong at installation but here is my problrem
after you run the game, black screen and back to desktop
1. shady job EN didnt work using ini editor
2. ja2_ub_5520.exe dont work at all (not even vanilla UB campaign) so I was using ja2_UB_5423.exe
3. when i tried to edit ja_UB.ini i set

at this point i got short tone and kick to desktop
4. then i found small error in vfs_config.UB_Shady-Job-EN.ini

PROFILE_ROOT = Profiles\UserProfile_UnfinishedBusiness\UB\AddOns\Shady-Job\Shady-Job-EN
5. now i can run the game and i got green interface from shady job and shady job music in menu, but campaign is still from vanilla UB
EDIT 2 I fucked up at installation apparently somehow, dont know how my profiles got stuck in UB map
I will try to find solution and post it here if i found one...

I found traces of UB map in profiles in
vfs_config.UB.ini in JA2 map
PROFILE_ROOT = Profiles\UserProfile_UnfinishedBusiness\UB
but if I run vanilla UB 1.13 and create save game it saves in different map
C:\ORIG\Profiles\UserProfile_JA2113_UB_EN\SavedGames
i got lost in all different maps and paths in ini files,
Question:
1. does this mods require original UB installed?
2. Set JA2UB v1.13 Campaign.exe - is it working and which ini files are affected by it?
3. What revision of SVN repository is recommended, maybe i am running on to old or to new one. (i have 1534 JA2 and 5541 addons)
OK I got everything working.
You have to do exactly what ROWA21 said in instructions and everything works. With 1534 JA2 and 5541 addons revisions and ja2_ub_5520.exe. Run game with INI EDITOR!
My problem was because I always export my SVN revision to temporary map, so I can keep old exe files and such. In that temporary map I had old ini files, Set JA2UB v1.13 Campaign.exe and alot od other stuff that was in old revisions but got deleted in newer ones. That files caused troubles. E.g. 1543 revision doesnt contain ja_UB.ini file at all, that file i had in my svn export map and in JA2 root map.
So my advice- clean SVN revision; dont export it at all, just copy map with all SVN related files in JA2 map and then copy Addons and Profiles. You dont need original UB instalation or UB CD. Just clean JA2 or JA2 Gold.

there were some further problems
shady job closes after you create IMP merc and close laptop screen
if i try to play game with only AIM mercs first sector is OK but second sector is closing time again
(note when i tried old vversion of shady job i remember that from first sector you could go only north, while on this version you can only travel east on tactical map)
i will report if i found solution
did somebody else manage to get shady Job working?
BTW; seems to me that vietnam is working OK; other MODs look just like vanilla UB; RU an PL version of Shady Job also dont work for me
EDIT:
I reinstaled again
now PL and RU versions of Shady Job is working
I managed to come to second sector in PL version not in EN (one to the east of landing one)
creating IMP merc still cause error
i noticed that in AIM mercs if you use old inventory setting Thor have for weapon infant spit- NADA no graphics. Weapon is working in game. If you use new inventory he got HK once and some auto pistol second time.

i know, and that is why we have "In progess" in topic title :compsmash:
i guess that copying files from orifinal 102 Shady Job wouldnt fix problems, I wont event try it

Either I did something wrong, or SOG69 is also screwed up. The items are a mess, I got a crash when trying to remove a 10X scope from Gaston's M24 (with the picture of a Mosin-Nagant). Also, the normal JA2 mercenary salary system was being used (don't know if the UB one is implemented at all), and MERC had a double for Stogie with no text on his description.
After the crash I changed a few settings in the INI, but now I can't get the game running. Assertion failures at gamestart. From the looks of it, these mod ports are completely FUBAR, or require some veeery specific settings to run properly. I seriously doubt I did anything that would've caused the crash, but if that's the case then these ports are pretty bad, to be blunt.
RoWa, do know who made these? Or are they "straight extracts" or something similar taken from that one Polish project mentioned a couple of time last year (IIRC)? Anyway, they clearly need more work. Unless these are not even meant to be played yet, in that case just ignore my ramblings.

I did a mistake, works fine now thanks.
But i got another problem, don't know if it fits the topic.
I played UB 1.13 but Morris didn't drop the launch codes at the end, so i couldn't finish the game.
I tried several reloads and other things, but he just won't drop them.

Finished JA2 1.13 (4552) recently and now I want to play UB with 1.13 enhancements. I have 2 different installations of UB 1.13 mods installed. Both are up and running.
1st intall (SVN 1.13 1557 w/ 5520 exe + SVN 5541 mod add-ons) follows instructions on this page but I can only run UB with old items and attachments. Game freezes with new/new selected.
2nd install (1.13 4870 + UB 1.13 1.5) follows the directions from Legion page. This install works with new/new selected but does not have the latest features of 1.13 SVN. Also has a lot of Polish text in game which is a minor annoyance (Can this be fixed? If so, how?).
Is it possible to play UB 1.13 SVN (1st install) with the new items and new attachments (new/new selected)? 1.13 has spoiled me and I can't go back to the old items/old attachment system. If this is not possible then I will play UB 1.13 with 2nd install.
Solved! Playing UB 1.13 on stable build 4870 with UB Hybrid 1.5. Fix to Polish text was to delete "BinaryData" folder inside "Data" before copying 1.5 files to 1.13 folder. Just finished several hours of gameplay and not issues so far. Hours of searching and reading post in forums led me to final solution. Thanks to all the modders and play testers!

The cold must have clouded my mind. I was talking about JA2 to Unfinished Business exporting. I know it was possible with the vanilla games.
Edit: So to repeat my question, can you play with the same IMP(s) through the original Jagged Alliance 2 and Unfinished Business in 1.13?

Hey Everybody,
Been lurking here for a bit, just finished my first 1.13 playthrough and am looking to play unfinished business.
I followed the steps outlined by Rowan to a T. Installed fine, game loaded fine, and proceeded until I shut down the laptop after hiring mercs and doing whatever else.
At that point, I get the following error:
Assertion Failure [Line 8695 in .\mapscreen.cpp]
Funny thing is, any information I can find about .\mapscreen.cpp shows that line 8695 is blank.
Anyway I'm not sure if this is the right place to post bugs, but if not please let me know how to properly report this. I put in a real effort to debug the problem but I wasn't getting anywhere so I figured I might as well post. The SVN I copied over is the same one linked to in this thread.
I made many changes to the ja2options.ini, which may have played a role in leading to the error. I'm happy to send my .ini file to anyone who might be able to help me with this.
Thanks everybody for their hard work on 1.13 and integration with UB.

Probably your exe version and game files are of different versions. Can you tell us your exe version you are running? Also welcome to the pit :wave:

Hello, I followed all the steps and recommendations from above and I get the following error after the intro:

The files are up-to-date, but I cannot figure where the .cpp files are located. Previously i tried ja 1.13 with hybrid ub 1.5 PL (it had a seperate source folder with all c++ files) but there is no source in this one. Any ideas?
