I am having trouble.

1. installed JA2
2. copied the "SCI_Unstable_Revision_6116_on_GameDir_1678" folder on top of the fresh install
3. tried to run "JA2_6116_UB.exe"
4. got a black screen I couldn't exit from
5. had to reboot

Do I need to install 1678 first before I install 6116?

[edit]

I just tried "ja2.exe" and got a black screen that lasted about 15 mins until the JA2 main menu finally appeared. Exiting resulted in another black screen, but I didn't wait as long before rebooting, so I don't know if it would have eventually exited correctly on its own.

It's weird , happens a lot with me whenever my pc has shut down or 'slept' for longer than a few days , but usually black screen clears and it's game on , doesn't happen to the same install again , until a shutdown ? Anybody figure out what goes on ?

That isn't even possible.1678 refers to the gameDir (xmls, specchfiles, inis etc.) while 6116 is the exe revision. You cannot install them seprately (you could copy the exe in your directory later on, but that is pointless). Your error must be something else entirely.

OK, the black screen was my fault. I forgot to add the executables to Comodo's trusted files list.

Of course it does not work. The exe you use expects data that wasn't in gamedir 1678. Either use 6116 exe, or wait for DepressivesBrot to provide an up-to-date SCI.

Hi, is this the right place to post bugs on the SCI?
Or does the alpha nature imply they should be taken as-is?

Thanks!

Don't worry everyone post their bugs there. In fact most of the bug reports there are for unstable releases. Stable version is pretty ancient (feature-wise), and there are not much people playing it. So mostly unstable/SCI bug reports.

Well, there is also a thread for reporting bugs for 4870 stable release:
http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php/topics/296506/BUGS_NEW_1_13_RELEASE_4870.html

So, using the general bug report for unstable is OK; just state which version exactly with every report.

1) Read the first post, there's a section about bug reports.
2) For any bugs you can't find someone specific to blame them on, report them here or in the general bug report thread.
3) Remember: Per default, I'm not responsible for any of them Razz

Savegame: http://www.wmwiki.com/hosted/ja2/bug%20saves/QuickSave.rar

ini changes;
Disabled food system
Enabled zombies
Enabled mercs can do advanced repairs

Bugs:

- Using switches results in CTD
- In sector N5 approaching the building always results in CTD

In both cases no error message is given, the game freezes, turns into a blank window and I have to force exit from the system.

Additional data:
I had to install the workaround for Windows 8 as I'm using that OS.

Thank you for your time!

John, Mary, Joey, Maria, Hamous, Maddog, Iggy, Vince and Conrad get the 'covert' property when they are first recruited. They either ARE civilians, are known to be civilians by the army, or are known to be members of the army itself. They lose that once they are uncovered and then treated as hostiles.

Edit: Fixed in r6221.

Hello, I'm playing revision 6234 gamedir 1709.
Thanks to all modders for all the great work you put into this game!

What I really enjoy right now is how all the characters move faster.

Now there seems to be 2 bugs:

Fatima disappears. I give her the letter, she walks out of the screen, I follow, and when I get to the next sector she is not there.

The game does not shut down properly. When I click quit from the main menu it somewhat shuts down, but halfway back to windows then the screen stays black and I have to strg-alt-del and end it through the task manager.

Any advice on how to fix these issues?

Thanks,

brato

Hi there!

I have bug in the beginning of the game.

When i talk to Fatima her behavior was normal like usual, but when I gave her a letter from Enrico, she thanks me for that, but don't spoke her usual monologue (with this sentimental stuff). This is kinda randomly bug, once she say what to be need - once not. This looks like bug with script that may recognize items - in this case a letter from Enrico.

The second situations is happening when Fatima is taking a letter from me, talks usual stuff and take me to the Rebel's Base in the next sector. I walk with her (sometimes she dissapear in the next sector, when I travelling from location screen, but not if I travel from tactical map screen). She is take me to Dimitri, but when I come close enough to him - he is speaks warning to Fatima ("why have you brought them here?! Have you lost your mind, woman?!") and when she have her turn to explains the game doesn't show her part of dialogue, only portrait with the list of options (Friendly, Directrly, Recruit etc). When you already click on each of them Fatima (to desperately unblock the right lines of text) disposes you and the portrait with dialogues options disappear. Then, the game came to be crazy. Razz This little grey clock is ticking but nothing happens. Game is hanged and you can't close her (unless you press and hold Num Lock).

I can't finish dialogue with Dimitri and Fatima = the stairs to the Rebels "basement" weren't appear = I cant' recruit any of Rebels. Sad Sad Sad

I have the newest version: SCI_Unstable_Revision_6239_on_GameDir_1712
(but the bug was appear on the previous - SCI_Unstable_Revision_6234_on_GameDir_1709, too).

I have changed Ja2_Options.INI (a lot!) and FaceGear.xml by adding formula "FACES\FACESGEAR\Face_SWAT_Helmet" to every helmet on the game.

I send you mine .ini file:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/3m6mnz

and savegame (Quick Save):

http://www.sendspace.com/file/nog27l

I do not use any extra stuff = like mods, patches or tilesets, just pure Jagged Alliance 2 v1.12 Gold + the nevest release of the v1.13 mod. Smile

Do you monitor the BUGZILLA thread, I have been posting bugs over there.....

The bugs I posted were using SCI_Unstable_Revision_6232_on_GameDir_1704:

Bug #1:
At the end of a battle (defense of Drassen center sector), a 9mm clip on the ground had 0 bullets.

Creating boxes or crates caused the game to spawn multiple boxes or crates with 0 bullets. Merging items does not get rid of the clip, boxes or crates.

Edit: A workaround is to delete the zero round clip. This seems to fix/avoid the problem.

Bug #2
Was training Militia in Cambria mine sector.

Performed defense of same sector, afterwards, going back to train militia, was charged another $750, even though the training was half complete.

Also, I have since noticed the following issues:
If you click on a MERC picture, you hire them without any way of backing out, not just the hire button, leads to an accidental hire.

I have seen the game freeze on exit.

After closing and restarting the game several times, the game will not start. Screen goes black then back to desktop. No indication in Event logs that the application crashed. No updates on any of the game's logfiles in the profile directory (the dates do not change, indicating that the problem occurs prior to those files being opened).

I have had the INI Editor fail to start logging a .NET2.0 related fatal exception message (unfortunately I didn't make a copy of the message, and have since cleared the event log, so I don't have the exact message, I'll repost when it happens again).

Some of these issues may be not with the game itself but the environment (XP/.NET etc.) but figured I at least make note of them.

Yup, I have the same.

When you close the game from tactical map screen - it's ok, but when you close the game from real-time location screen - it freezes, until completely closed.

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post it, but...
I'm playing one of the latest Unstable (SCI_Unstable_Revision_6239). Handguns seem to be the only weapons capable of hitting anything. Fox is mowing red shits with her dual pistols, but if I try to get anyone (like my rifle specialist) to hit anything I struggle.
Is this a bug or a feature?

You kidding me?! This patch is AWESOME!!!! I love the fact I can keep coming back after a couple months and to play with all these new improvements!

Is the SPY class perfected yet? How does it work? Do I need to get civilian clothes?

Also noticed that the XML MERC editor wont let you set SPY skills to MERCS/AIM members yet. Whats the story?

ignore me, i found the forum string discussing covert ops/Spp....havent used it enough yet though. Still trying to figure out clothing...

Is Conrad supposed to be laying half dead when you find him?

How do you clean guns that jam all the time? (the cleaning kit doesn't work)

I saved John and Merry and John never appeared on MERC.

Did you use the methods described here? What happens when you use a cleaning kit?
The 100% repair option to clean a gun will not work if FULL_REPAIR_CLEANS_GUN is set to FALSE (default) in Ja2_Options.ini.

Has RECRUITABLE_JOHN_KULBA_DELAY already passed? This is set to 14 days per default. Have you started a new game after the recruitable John feature was introduced? If not there might be problems with merc availability.

Thanks for the reply silversurfer.....

Noticed Conrad's health in the MERC editor was set to 8 (which permanently set his health to CRITICAL). Probably my fault.

I will check the gun cleaning kit facts when i get home. But as of now, the kit does nothing.

RECURITABLE JOHN was set to ON and i changed the delay time to 1. No dice though. who knows.
