I cannot get rid of the dirt even if the guns are in 100 percent excellent condition. I secured some of the cleaning kits place one of them in a merc's inventory. I tried to use Alt+, doesn't work. Same goes for Ctrl+ and comes with nada. There's no screen popped up with the button "Do you want to clean your gun?". Do I have to take it to the gunsmith like Arnie? Not sure if he exists in this mod.

According to the description/fist post for Flugente's advanced repair/dirt system cleaning is brought up with "CTRL" + "."

Now as you have not specified which mod you are running, I must point out a few things: This sub forum covers three separate mods, but advance features such as Fluegente's advanced repair/dirt system are only supported in a test series of the Urban Chaos-1.13 mod (which is intentionally being kept separate from the normal UC-1.13 discussion). You must be testing a later revision of UC-1.13 v3.7x, with its specified minimum system requirements, for this feature to be available.

See: Urban Chaos-1.13 v3.7x ADCAP

I running Urban Chaos-1.13 v3.75 20120921 . I followed the instructions on the installation. The game works great, except I don't how to clean the gun. If I'm playing with that version I mentioned, then what can I do to get the gun clean? I know I need the gun cleaning kit, but how do you use it other than attach to some weapons?

Have you already read the thread about the dirt system Wil linked in his post?

It says (if you have a cleaning kit in inventory) just press CTRL+'.' (Not sure if this works in tactical and strategical alike; try both).
Or repair a (also damaged) gun to max.

HTH.

I've never gotten the Ctrl + . command to do anything either. First tried it out when it was hot off the presses and some time after that. Nada.
Never got around to looking for any solutions. UC or not, simply does nothing at all.

Then I have no idea. Left Ctrl and then '.' is all that's to it.

Indeed. Setting up the latest SCI right now. Gonna do a bit of experimenting and let you know if I come up with something.

I figured out what's going. I pressed "Ctrl+" not "Ctrl." I misread the instructions. Flugente's shortcut worked. Case closed.

Yup, it's working. Magic!
As a side note, you might wanna consider allowing Esc to back out of the menu.

Ok, they combined it with Flug's zombies (their faces, that is) thus proving that even the best ad won't work out with ugliness ... Razz

Speaking about zombies, do they appear in Sci-Fi mode?

AFAIK zombies do appear if and when you enable them, regardless of SciFi or not.

How do I get them to appear? I cannot find that in the game option where you can turn the zombie spawn on or off. Is there a specific mission I need to take or complete to have the zombies spawn?

it's on second page of ingame prefs. If you lack this option, you are playing an exe without zombie support. Pls have a look in the zombie dev thread for details.

It's not in the ingame prefs. What I'm looking for is zombie option in Urban Chaos 1.13. It appears that the the zombie option is only for "regular 1.13" not Urban Chaos. As I mentioned before, I installed Urban Chaos-1.13 v3.75 20120921 . My setting in JA2 editor to run Urban Chaos are vfs_config.UC113.ini and ja2_5520.exe . Could someone please post a link where can download the latest zombie option mod for Urban Chaos 1.13.

If 5520 is the exe that comes with the gamedir, RoWa builds them without zombies afaik. Just get the 5526 from my sig, that should work.

Here's the answer:
Ok, since I cannot post links yet, the answer is on the 3rd page of "New feature: advanced repair/dirt system" thread. Or just search for "dirt", it works too. Short summary - dirt is now part of weapon effective state (there are two percentage figures now in the mouseover, like 68%/74%, first figure is the state of the gun now, second is what it will be if you fully clean it). Cleaning is performed in strategic, choose "repair" task. If you have no cleaning kits, tool kit will do too.
Oh, and cleaning effectiveness is now more dependent on DEX and merc level than on MEC.
