Thanks for posting the links here. Maybe we can turn this place into an unofficial official forum, where the JABIA community--such as it is--can hang out Smile

Guys,

I have found and hooked the update character XP function. This will allow us to change how the character's stats are updated. For example, instead of the character getting some training points every time he levels up, we can parse his stats (like number of melee attacks performed) and modify his attributes and skills. I have a very simple prototype of this working. You know what I am talking about if you have played JA 2 Smile

I would like to see some discussion on how the attributes and skills should be modified. Quantifiable suggestions like formulas and graphs are welcome. Pseudo code is even better. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The debugger is ready for alpha release. The xp mod is going to take a few weeks. Thanksgiving break is coming up, so I will have lot's of time to work on it then.

As for the skill points, at the moment I turned that off. As in interesting side effect of that, when you level up you don't get the up arrow icon indicating you leveled up. In fact, the gui relies on skill points that your merc has to display the level up arrow. You can see this with the debugger. If you add skills points to a merc, and keep the rest of the stats the same, the level up arrow will show up.

The xp mod will require a lot of testing and balancing. A big contribution from the community would be to send me save games from the end of the game. I can look at the merc stats and tweak the formulas for better pacing. We don't want our mercs to be super soldiers by the end of the game and not weaklings either.

You can download the debugger here. I will release a video that goes into more detail about installation and usage.

great work sadly im hooked on assassins creed 3 right now so no time to test it Wink

is it possible to make attachments "permanent" i.e. they dont fall off after switching weapons? using your mod? that would be a great addition.

That is a good idea and could be implemented. I will be quite busy the next couple of weeks, but will try to investigate how to implement this as soon as I can. It should be just as simple as hooking the weapon switch function and adding this functionality.

Hi sbobovyc,

Thanks for creating the debugger, xpmod and installer! Just wanted to give some feedback, not sure if its something wrong with my system.

Followed the instructions on your youtube video, but ended up with an error after clicking launch. The error can be seen in the screenshot. This happens even if i do not check the mods.

The debugger looks really good in the video though, would love to help test it out! Smile

Looks like the launcher did not get installed in the right place. It should be installed into your JABIA game folder. Is your steam not on C drive?

Sorry for the problems. Thank you so much for testing this out and reporting these problems. I will install JABIA on my fiance's computer to test this stuff on a "clean" system. I am curious, are you a regular or admin user when you run this? Try running the launcher as an administrator. The launcher is basically a custom build dll injector, I always run it from my admin account. Error 5 stand for "Access Denied". http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowssdk/thread/f7488a42-ce3a-449b-a1d1-02af97365df4/

I've done a little bit of testing with Blender 2.52. Can anyone else confirm that the plugin is working for them?

Annoying but despite copying the plugin distro files in Blender's "AppData..../scripts/addons" folder, they don't show up in the User Preferences window no matter what. And I am not sure wtf I am doing wrong.

PS: I use the latest 2.65 Blender... maybe that's the cause?

As for the tools launcher, installing works just fine and dandy, but running it cames up with this error (Win7, 64 bit):

Guys,

I hope you guys had a great holiday season. After a long break, I am coming home and very eager to polish up the tools.

Shanga,

I am also using 2.65. Make sure that "Testing" under the addons Support Level is turned on. As for the launcher not working, it is because you need Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 installed. Unfortunately I compiled it for debugging, so even if you install the redist it won't work. I will recompile and upload a new release version of the launcher by the end of the weekend.

You'll need Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 to run the launcher. Download the x86 version here:

Guys,

I've added another mod that changes the probability of weapon drops from 25% to 100%. You will need to install a new version of the mod launcher.

* Updated mod launcher to use a config file to record settings
* Loot drop mod now also drops helmets, eyewear, vest, shoes.
* Character debugger now has Equipment1 option which gives stuff to the currently selected character.

A little details about loot dropping. In the vanilla game:
All unequiped items always drop.
Equiped weapon has a 25% drop rate, if durability is above 6.
Equiped shirt, shoes, pants has 12.5% drop rate, if durability is above 10.
Equiped ammo always drops.
Equiped specials, helmet, eyewear, vest, weapon attachments do not drop.

The mod changes the percentages to 100%, but keeps the durability requirements. In addition, more item types can drop.

Interesting. I've tested the mod only with new games, not old saves. Are you having this issue on a new game?

P.S.
I've updated some documentation on the wiki.

If alpha testing goes well, I will put this stuff on moddb.

It is not. These mods work by injecting DLLs into the game, hooking functions and overwriting memory. All that stuff is specific to JABiA exe. I could port this stuff to crossfire, but that is far in the future.

Massive bugfix update:
* Debugger can now be used between save game loads and map switches. Still a bug with save game loads, but can be worked around by quiting to main menu and loading saves from there.
* Debugger interface now properly updates after using advanced functions.
* Xpmod now increases each attribute by 1 when a merc levels up. Skills still use formulas.

Well this finally shows in Blender under Import. Nice work.

Now I need to teach myself the messy interface of this thing, its even less user friendly than 3dsmax. I tried a straightforward Import crf command and it did nothing.

Right next to Help menu, there is a Window menu. Click "Toggle System Console". This should bring up a DOS window. Try to import something. If something goes wrong, errors will be barfed up in the DOS window.

I'm still reverse engineering the data structures and algorithms that handle camera control, but the final product will be something that a user can tweak to his liking.

one thing i realized today during playing, is that with the current version of the xpmod there is no way to increase attributes like strength and such. i would suggest the use of a hybrid version which increases stats like marksmanship through use and on top of that gives trainingpoints on levelup, maybe reduced in number.
