Hi and let me begin with a thank you - it is great to find active forums around for classic games - the fans devotion really helps to keep these games accessible to those of us who might have, for whatever reason, missed them when they originally came out.
I recently purchased JA2 Gold and Unfinished Business from Steam and would like some advice as to which mods/patches might best improve the gameplay experience. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I'd suggest you play them both at least once without mods to see what you (dis-)like about them.
Then go to the mod gallery and have a look what may fit your style/expectations.
