You want to say that IMP characters and mercs who were in JA2 (Grunty, Fox, Malice, Buzz, Ice...) have no voices.

The IMP Character and some of the Mercs, I don't remeber which ones (Biff I think for example).

I installed GOG english version, your Mod and all patches / addtional files from your mod. Nothing else. I have IMP voices and all other voices in JA 1.13, which I used the same GOG installation file for.

I just checked the JA 1.13 installation, it has Speech.slf and Npc_speech.slf under the data folder. It didn't come from the SVN, so I guess it came with the installation.
JA 2/1 on the other hand only has a speech.bak and npc_speech.bak file in the data folder. If I would have to guess, I would say that the Metavira Installer did this? I certainly didn't do it myself, I have no other mods, and copying patches / sound files doesn't result in any renaming.

By the way, renming the .bak files to .slf brought the sound back.

Thank you for your message. It's our mistake. Thank you for it.
I've downloaded your saves. I'll think, what to do in your situation in a couple of days.

I appreciate that, kill that ugly bug! Very Happy

Yes, it is normal.

I'll try to check, why it was renamed during the installation.

@Decoy We will fix the bug in the next versions of the game. Thank you for finding it.
I've understood what we have with the sound - it's my mistake. I'll try to fix it in the next version too.

Now I'm happy to return your savegame.
http://www.ja2.su/sclad/lion/FindBrenda.zip

I've changed it a bit, so Brenda have returned to sector G11. You can find her in her father's house (be attentive - she might be in a bedroom). Brenda is ready to receive the flowers and to prepare the antidote from them.

I hope everything will be fine. If you meet any problems with her (or any other problems) do not hesitate to contact me. I'll try to help you.

Have a good game! Smile

@Arulcish Lion,

please, what does it mean precisely:

"Please, run the game with a key -cheats and you'll be able to use them the same way as in JA2."

@Fan Glad to see you here again.

Many programs can be run with some keys.
Now people who use windows do not meet this opportunity to often but is still widely used in linux. Years ago it was used in DOS.

The program may work different, depending on the keys.

Traditionally you tape them in a command line between the name of the command and its arguments.

In windows there are some ways to use keys without a command line (command line in windows is something hilariously uncomfortable).

You can create in the folder .bat file with text:
@ -cheats

For example:
@ja21m.exe -cheats

Or you can create a link to a program (ja2m.exe) open its properties and change there ja21m.exe to ja21m.exe -cheats

@Decoy Have you managed to find Brenda in fixed save?

@Arulcish Lion,

thank you for your answer. You really managed this?
I have Win8 and I tried to create a connection of "ja21m.exe" on the
desktop. But without success.
Win8 don't accept the change in "ja21m.exe -cheats".

@Fan
Put quotation mark after exe, like;

"c:\games\ja21m\ja21m.exe" -cheats

or alternatively try this;

1. open notepad
2. type @ja21m.exe -cheats
3. in the "save as type" pulldown menu select "all files"
4. in the name field type "ja21m.bat"
5. put this file with the same folder as ja21m.exe

@Decoy You are welcome.

@Gambigobilla Thank you for your more detailed answer.

@Fan I usually use .bat file. Or I use for playing linux terminal and wine.
Quotation marks is something extremely strange and uncomfortable in windows command line.

Quotation marks are only needed if the path (or filename) contains spaces. So for Program Files you need to include quotes, but for ProgramData you don't.

@JMich And you have even more fun when you have Cyrillic letters in the names. Smile

I like more then you can use \ before a space. In my opinion it's more comfortable. Although I do not pay much attention to this - I prefer not to use spaces, Cyrillic and other bad stuff in names.

My game of 1.13, well, the enemy armor got upgraded recently, and they're starting to use more grenade launchers and mortars...

Very cool mod! Just what I was hoping for. Nice basic fire and maneuver.
Unfortunately, not all my favorite mercs are there--Wink, for example.

My real question is, are there Molotov cocktails like in JA1 and what do I need to make them? I found several Vodka bottles, Jars of Oil, Gas Cans and such, and you can make string+coke can noisemaker trap, but I'm not sure about the rest...

I wouldn't mind armor values being so low if I had a steadier supply of med kits. Not many of course, but a few would be nice. A minor merchant, perhaps, with some goodies to tide you over.

I do question the Assault Vest description, "virtually eliminates the concern of projectiles destined for the chest and back"...don't bullshit me! Very Happy

Is Needle any different from the original games? I didn't notice his great physical stats and mechanical and marksmanship proficiency before. He's good!
Malice, and Hamous, of course, and I'm using Bob, another versatile merc.

@VorpalDerringer Thanks for playing our mod.

VorpalDerringer
Unfortunately, not all my favorite mercs are there--Wink, for example.
We think there were too many mercs in JA1. We understand that every player have his own favorites, so we tried to have more mercs, then it was in JA2. We tried to have all the most interesting mercs in the game. Really there are some problems with having a lot of mercs.

I hired Wink in JA1 too. Smile

Yes, there are Molotov cocktails in the game. In the next version they'll be upgraded.

So, how to make them:
You need to have a can with oil, a gas can and a string. You add a gas can to a can with oil and the add string to this.
Now you do not need any alcohol for making cocktails. There were some problems with merges in code, so now it works in this way.
In the next version (I hope, it'll be available in September or October) alcohol will be also needed for this merge.

There is a chance that there will be a merchant in later versions. I hope, it'll be Micky like it was in Deadly Games.

Sorry, what don't you like in this line?
It is not our invention - it was so in JA1. This item has original description. Moreover, this vest really has a bonus to protection from explosions. Smile

The most stats are from the original game. Some are new, cause, as I remember, Sir-Tech added some stats in JA2. His marksmanship is not very high, but his work is to heal. In this mod is a good idea to have a special man only for healing.

I agree. There really were too many in JA1. Or, rather, there were too many that were too good and that were too bad, so you never used them.

So work continues? That's good to hear.

I have since figured it out. I thought I would need cloth, not string to make a molotov. I tried using Katran on a spare vest, but no dice.

I'm back after a long time and I have questions:
1. I play vers. 0.5. Is this vers. cancelled? I have found downloads till o.45.
2. I've forgotten: How can I train lightblue militia/guards to blue? I cannot activate "guards" in my game. Options.ini: Teaching is on!

Thank you a lot!

Hello to all Metavira "attempters";

Figuring things out seems to be a problem getting going.
Some things are the same, some features have been improved, while attempting to keep the same general story-line and "goodies" found.

Tappers:
The shovel icon shows tappers and Fallow trees. (The soldier icon is your men, the fist is the guards.)
If you have Fallow trees in a sector, you can "select" a sector by clicking on it, another click adds a "tapper-team".
Like with the Guards, if you've used up all the available workers, you won't get any more until the next day.
And (like the original) if you've maxed out your processing limit, Jack will appear to stop you.

I've another post brewing about changes.

Murphy was an optimist
