Hi, Im going to try AFS. Does it work with the latest SCI? (SCI_Unstable_Revision_6722_on_GameDir_1905)

Should I use 4.47 or 4.48?

Does it work wiht Arulco Revisited, and if so what are the steps to make it work?

Does the Radio Operator feature work?

AFS work normally with vanilla maps.If you try to use Arulco revisied mod or WF maps mod you will have a lot on wrong items on maps(NADA and other shit).Arulco revisited and WF maps work nice only with stock 1.13 mod and Stronhmans overhaul.If you want Items from AFS but with new maps, just wait for Urban chaos or DL-1.13.

Havent had a chance to test, but something i remember

RIS Scope rings + Variable zoom scope, attempting to change zoom makes the scope occupy the same slot as the scope rings, making it impossible to switch zoom without removing the attachment.

Had this issue over the summer, not sure if it was addressed.

Workaround would be to have a RIS version of the variable zoom scope

AFs Rc5.Playing with Bobby ray settings x1 and x1 at game progress 20/20 have huge quantity of ammo boxes(10-30 units) on bobby ray magazine,other things-armors,misc seems at normal quantity.

I'm (for some reason) able to load ammunition into the Big Knife slot on utility belts. This crashes the game.

I'm not the most dextrous of men, missed the slot I was aiming for and right clicked on the Big Knife slot on accident. Then i saw the menu to load ammo into the slot (in this specific case. 5.56x54 HP 30 Mag) and it locked the game, had to go into task manager to kill it

Hey I tried playing v1.13 with the version of AFS above. Using SCI_Unstable_Revision_6743_on_GameDir_1913 and I got this on start up;


[1.02633e-005] : The value [Strategic Event Settings][CREPITUS_ATTACK_ALL_TOWNS] = "" in file [Ja2_Options.ini] is neither TRUE nor FALSE. The value FALSE will be used.


I checked the INI and the field is filled with FALSE. Even if you change it, it still has the same issue. The major issue with this is that it does not allow you to use a edited INI file when I am trying to attempt an Insane playthrough some some modified fields.

Doesn't occur without AFS installed.

Hi Guys,

Currently using AFS 4.48 RC6 on 6722 on windows 8. I've installed 1.13 and AFS as usual when I come across a crash that seems insurmountable.

I've currently taken Drassen and have finished the Drassen counterattack. I'm currently training up militia for now while I prepare to scout the area for skyrider and take the neaarby SAM. At Day 4, and with a significant number of militia now roaming around. When I let the strategic timer run (doesn't matter what speed) my screen suddenly hangs until a message pops up telling me of an unhandled exception then the game shuts down.

Would this error be connected to simultaneous militia strategic combat events? When the crash started happening, I noticed that some sectors had a mix of militia and enemies yet strategic combat wasn't activating. I was able to prolong the game working when I used my mercs (and using the cheat mode) to eliminate those enemies from the sector. The game would run for a while when I use the strategic timer again then it would crash when it hits a certain point. I assume this certain point would be be when my militia groups would try to simultaneously enter sectors with enemies. I can upload a save file if you guys want.

[RC5] I can't get the SCAR-SPC rifles or uppers to appear at Bobby Ray's. I fulfill the coolness requirement, neither the "Sci-Fi" nor the "Not Buyable" boxes are checked and the inventories in the editor has a value of two. Any ideas?

Next RC and/or Official release will be moving around/renaming the M-LBE Combat and Backpacks. Making the "item" at least consistent with v1.13, though the pockets will remain the same. This shift will of course impact save games negatively.

Also adding the sleeping bag that I found when updating from the SVN.

I don't know where can i ask,so i ask my question here.Why in mods like AFS,UC and DL maded by Wil473 the armors have a very huge protection percent?For example:EOD pants fully repaired has stats:protection:57%(45/45).but if merc wear those pants he has armor rating almost twice higher than those percents in the stats(165% added to armor in merc inventory).So why armor has so huge numbers?is that glithc or i missed something?I see those big number only in those three mods,other mods and vanilla 1.13 mod cannot achive so huge numbers in armor.

The displayed armor% is rated against the old maximum of full jellied spectra gear with ceramic plate. Since some of the new stuff is better, it gets more than the 100% that vanilla set would give.

But in other mods(AIMNAS,IOV) and in stock 1.13 the gear has almost same stats but doesn't have a huge % in displayed armor.so it is something wrong with AFS related mods or what?

I am back!

Started new game.

rc5 iirc.

9x19, 9x18 pistols, smgs are useless in the beginning of the game.
I prefer to use 22LR smgs/ARs rather than 9x19, Ira and Mouse used AKT-22 and killed more than Igor and Grunty who used 9x19 smgs.



is it intentional that there is no AR - 22 in BR shop? only used are available however Car-22 is present in both new and used sections

Strategic View:
If an IMP spawns with an ammo box and you pick it up with the mouse cursor in a way that the IMP's inventory remains full (say with a two-handed weapon in hand and no other inventory slot available), it makes it impossible to do anything except quit.

Hey Wil, found a rather irritating bug today. On a clean install from the 7130 on 2005 SCI with AFS RC6, opening the item details page on some weapons causes a sudden, instant crash with no exception or note. I's still testing the items, but it seems to happen reliably with 7.62x51mm machine guns (I was trying to compare them). G28 and other marksman rifles weren't a problem, but I haven't tried many other weapons yet. Opening the description or advanced properties tabs was fine as well, only the middle one that displays the actual properties is a problem.

I tried to replicate this in the base SCI and couldn't, so something might have changed since the revision you based that RC on. Maybe something in the MGs disagrees with the new item comparison feature? There were some display fixes mentioned in 7131, but the log doesn't say what exactly, so I'm not sure if they what they fixed.

Also, on an unrelated note, I noticed while testing the base SCI that a lot of progress has been made in adjusting minor things in the trunk lately. Backgrounds have been refined (although there are still two "veteran" backgrounds with different stats), Merc loadouts have their themes noted (premium, medic, auto weaps, etc), some merc profile changes, that kind of thing. Since you mentioned merging in the trunk LBE I was wondering if you were going to do a big integration of stuff from the trunk (including INI options, although I'm just Winmerging that) when you release an upcoming RC, or if you are going to wait for a full 4.49 to bring everything up to date. Thanks.

EDIT 1: After further investigation, the problem appears to be restricted to some LMGs. It's odd, though. I thought it might be something related to belt feed (because a lot of the Soviet mag-fed LMGs worked fine, and most weapons that come with a C-Mag by default, while I don't think any belt-fed I tested did) or caliber, but the Bren L4 crashes while the Zastava M77 LMG doesn't, and they both feed from 7.62x51mm 20-round mags. The only error message I have is something complaining about the file "SOUNDS\Ceramic Armour Insert.wav" not existing, if that matters.

EDIT 2: I just tested the patch Anv provided in 7141 and it seems to have fixed the problem with displays. Great job on the quick response.

Strange thing happened to me this evening

I used MoveItem to move items from Drassen Airport/Mid to Drassen Mine, and then I used Shift+M to merge/move all of the items under my merc...unfortunately I can't access the items anymore (greyed out) in the Strategic viewer, I have to manually pick items up in the Tactical viewer.

All of the items are inside the dentist's office (NW Drassen Mine, is locked at night), could that be why?

Im using the RC6 and the suggested .exe back when you posted it.

Edit 1, unrelated question: If I change something in the .ini, such as turning on the ability to restrict items for militia, how long does it take to update? Or do i have to start over?

Edit 2: Yep! It was because it was in the dentist's office!

not sure if it is a bug or I am doing something wrong, tactikool ris with scope mount tends to eat 3-9x scope so you cannot switch magnification after some time and even cannot unmount scope(during battle)

It sounds like you're using an older release. I'm running RC6. The cleaning kits are a known issue, I think Wil said putting them in the stock is just for storage and you have to take them out to use them.

As for the scope, that's exactly what used to happen all the time, and when it did it to me last week I remember Wil mentioned a fix. You'll need to pull the reflex sight off and put the mount in your hand. The scope should pop back to where it's supposed to be. If you're running one of the RCs where Wil fixed this, you can then click the scope on one of the mount's default attachment slots (and maybe click the mount on the scope) and they'll merge to become an RIS-compatible scope with variable power and a slot for the reflex sight. The transform menu will have options for other powers and to unmerge the scope and mount.

Radio Operator trait available when I was testing the next RC, so I'm guessing yes a new game is needed. Speaking of which:

I have 2 teams in the same sector in cambria. I have 2 scouts - Ira and Carlos in 1st team, I sent 2nd team outside to adjacent sector with enemies. my team gets ambushed. WTF?

weird thing is I saved game when I ordered troops to move to enemy sector. After ambush I reloaded game and no ambush!

about variable magnification scope bug - I am not sure which rc I am using, I have both 5 and 6 rev downloaded, will install rc 6 to see if bug is gone

The ambush thing sounds less like a bug and more the whim of the Random Number Generator.

As for the VP scopes, it is not a bug, I just combined two features that were never meant to be combined (Item Transformations and nesting attachments). Well the overlapping attachment points may be, but the workaround is in the last few RC's.

Also, why reinstall RC6 when I just posted RC7?

That's actually me forgetting to remove all the graphics folders (needed for XML Editor) from Data-AFS. On the flip side, it does mean that you can open the AFS v4.48 RC7 just by pointing the XML Editor at it. I'll be sure to delete those folders for the final release.

Not sure if it is a stock 1.13 or AFS bug but sometimes after ordering at BR shop if you click Shipments - game freezes.

What is the size of Nunchuks? it does not fit medium and bigger slots. It looks like it has size of Machine gun

Hey Wil, small bug. When opening the RC7 files with the new XML editor (downloaded as Rev 162, shows as version 1.103, released a week or two ago by JMich, and isn't in the SCIs yet) it throws an error with the Spotting tag. The initial entry in items.xml isn't complete, but I got things running by quickly copy-pasting one of the existing entries and setting it to zero.

The new editor supports spotting bonuses and flashlight ranges, has a whole new tab for managing flags, and provides much-awaited support for the equipment .xmls of enemy and militia classes (and probably a bunch of other stuff I haven't noticed yet). I'm not sure if you already knew about it, but it makes working with some of the features you use much easier.

Also, I noticed the entry for radio operator isn't implemented in the AFS IMP inventory XML yet, but unless you want to have IMPs start with a radio set it probably doesn't matter. Just mentioning it for the sake of completeness. Thanks.

I'll test it out more this weekend and report anything unusual.

Fixed - now size 123 (SMG magazine size) instead of 20 (large long rifle size).

Thank, I fixed this across all three mods. I only started using the new XML Editor today, the DL-1.13 inventories needed to be redone. Until I realized that I didn't actually have a usable set of inventories from the last release of DL-1.13 I was happily using JMich's 160 XML Editor which also has item flag support.

The ILBE rucksack has two issues. First, the image isn't quite centered and falls out the bottom of frame. Second, the M-LBE setup for it has four slots for large pockets when there should only be two.

The sleeping bag doesn't have an image in the sector inventory and locks the game when clicked on. Probably just an item picture that didn't make the transfer from the trunk data.

The TT Extended Range pack doesn't have any attachment slots for new pockets, despite showing a capacity of 40 for M-LBE gear.

Somehow an earlier version of the tileset got into Data-Graphics for RC's.

Found the problem during testing of the Release Candidate for DL-1.13 v4.48 - seems I copied only MercProfiles.XML, but not the latest Backgrounds.XML

As before please remember to delete Data-AFS and Data-Graphicsbefore installing

  • Updated Backgrounds.XML, to accomodate significant changes to how backgrounds were handled since RC2
  • Updated Items.XML, index 0 now compatible with XML Editor Revision 162
  • Fixed Items.XML, index 280, it is now one of the Variable Power Scopes, was a placeholder item
  • Fixed nunchuks size corrected to 123, was 20
  • Fixed ILBE rucksack, bitmask in LoadBearingEquipment.XML corrected to 3276, was 4044
  • Fixed TT Extended Range pack, missing attachment for M-LBE system
    - fixed ILBE rucksack, bitmask in LoadBearingEquipment.XML corrected to 3276, was 4044
    - missing in Items.XML = 33554432
    - missing in Items.XML = 1
  • Fixed Data-Graphics folder, several STI libaries found to be obsolete (and crashing the game)
    - also deleted several unnecessary folders
