Morning Bear pit, wanted to send a little more art your way, the Cutie Cuddle Bear special edition M-16 assault rifle! Smile

When we do JA Flashback, one of the art standards we will have for the team is a specific was to set up our photoshop files in a way that they can be modified quickly for texture variations. So last night i had a free time and made this in about 20 minutes for fun.

@JAFTeam Is the diorama work in progress or is this final? I kinda like the untextured parts, reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, I mean I'm open for that. Jagged Alliance and Alice in wonderland art style

For me the graphics say *colorful candy RPG* (in this case would prefer a little more realistic art style). I see some similarities here:

+1. Currently it's too much cartoonish, fantasy RPG, unrealistic (or whatever you may call it) for my liking as well.
(But OC we'll have to judge the final thing again, when a look is done for "reference")

Now that you mention it and after watching the latest screens from the diorama, you might be right about saturation. One thing about JA2 modding was always the way the game tones down anything you throw at it, weapons in particular. Going high saturation flashy thingie might turn off a lot of people.

That being said, here's what Unity looks like in action:

http://unity3d.com/gallery/demos/live-demos

Quite a few of the demos work on browser.

Yeah, maybe more like this:

http://unity3d.com/unity/quality/i_terrains/terrain-3.jpg

found on the unity terrain site

Look on the brown in the sun and compare it to the diorama.
Also I like the amount of details here. I have nothing against the painted texture style, but high saturation is a no go, Warcraft days are gone. Batman and Superman remakes are having a dark grading nowadays Wink

Thanks for the Unity link!

The cartoony stuff did work for Silent Storm... sort of. Optional visual styles would of course be a plus. Think Sin City (only with more gray, to work with the whole Soviet thing) and alike. Filters, shaders.

This, to me, looks like the next step in 7.62 evolution. Not sure how it would do as a JA setting but I'm getting good vibes.
Don't know how you developers handle this stuff but SweetFX works well for me whenever I'm trying to visually tune the games I play. Could give some ideas.

Agreed on the saturation. Otherwise sniper rifles will become useless... Shooting an enemy from one side of the map while you're prone on the other is one of the great joys later on in 1.13. Well to me at least. XD

Out of the latest 3, i like the 1st best (that screenshot from unity). It's the perfect combo between rich colors and light that don't yell at me. In Hired Guns the whole thing is oversaturated. And in Platoon is too subdued and dull.

Well, Hired Guns and Platoon are old games...

This screenshot of Hired Guns a bit oversaturated, didn't look on my pC that much.

Unity pic is great but... the founds and time and effort that FC will need for that...
I wouldn't mind Hired Guns with a bit "potoshoping" to have more realictic colors.

If it would be possible - Just Cause 2 then (for me)

I think this is what "too realistic" means when FC talk about it. Plus there's a bad mix between background (realistic) and foreground (cartoonish).

Actually a stylised version of the Unity one would be great. Too realistic and you end up in brown shooter territory. Too cartoony and you have Hired Guns. A more hand drawn look to the Unity one would look epic to me Smile
