Great, the first stretch goals!

It's nice to read those, however it would be good to have more "ambitious" goals. If you make people dream, they will join the project.
Do you have bigger ambitions than sector-wise you could share? Recruiting some VIP (in real, not in game), larger mod support, more effort on music or art, features asked by the community, or whatever. Don't be afraid of showing the deepness of your dreams, even if it needs huge numbers.

The best thing about this surge is shutting up all the self-appointed prognosticators who had decided what's wrong with the different tier levels and were using the slowness as an excuse to try to bargain with FC. The truth was that they were bargaining the integrity of the game for some trinkets and the real problem as today has shown wasn't the tiers, but exposure and traction.

and the real problem as today has shown wasn't the tiers, but exposure and traction.

Which is quite hard to get these days. We would have launched earlier, but... you know... talks about the deal weren't finalized until very close before the start, so we weren't all that sure if we could get the license. Plus press is kinda... overfloated with Kickstarter. And many other things. However. We still believe in the project. And we will make it happen. We won't let it fail, even if that means someone must take a credit on a house or something Very Happy

Agreed, your connections with inXile and Obsidian very well might of saved your bacon Razz

The fact that Kevin had nothing but good things to say certainly helped to win me over.

Yes!

I have checked now. 4 hours earlier there were $200'000, but now we can see $208'000.
$8'000 during 4 hours - it's rather good.

I start thinking, that we'll have a chance to see mountains and editor...
That's good.

All the suggestion on tiers were good and anyway FC only implemented those they liked and thought would be useful. There were too many gaps between $25 tier and $200 and too many rewards buried at +2000 tiers. A lot of those were made more accessible to more people as add-ons.

Nothing wrong in the tier shuffle. That got them to 190k. And gave a lot of people incentive to upgrade.

We are now looking into how to create a 3D model for the bears. No one has done a 3D bear so far. But hey, next to our office is a studio which creates horses for their games. Can't be that difficult Wink

The way backers are rolling in, I figured that you might need ideas for unlockable sectors:

How about a lunatic asylum which might have secret levels or could be even partly abandoned? Good place to hide a RPC, too? Very Happy

Aside from fun, this could even serve a greater purpose seeing how some people have been worrying about the infusion of quotes from backers and fearing that they might affect immersion negatively. This would be a great place to lock up the crazies!

You could also use it as a "threat" - "Work on those quotes, backers or they go straight to the looney bin! :jail:

Pledged 50 dollars, but it doesnt look good :/

The crazy part was that i wasnt even aware of this Kickstarter until i got a "Kicking it forward" message from Obsidian Entertainment. Jagged Alliance 2, along with the original X-Com, are the best tactical games i've ever played. Something tells me that a *lot* of fans of this series is completely unaware of the Kickstarter going on.. Crossing fingers for it to at least reach its funding goal Smile

The goal of these final days, until the last 48h, is to get as close to "it could be possible" status. If you're too far away from your final numbers, a lot fewer come to help.

On the other hand, if you're "this" close to making it (somewhere over 300k), people start to have confidence and feel like they are doing something important. Nobody likes losing causes but everyone loves to be a hero.

And also remember that the "Remind me" sends an e-mail when the project reaches 48 hours to go, which does usually result in a surge of backers in the last 2 days. So while it's still touch and go, I'm optimistic it will reach it, though doubt it will get any stretch goal :/

I don't trawl gaming sites these days, so PR wouldn't necessarily have helped either. I've missed a ton of kickstarters because of that, which is a shame. 30 days is just not very long unless the word has had time to spread for a while.

This is completely unproductive but I want to point out the obvious since no one else even mentioned it. Some people (I have no idea about the proportion but I would guess it's reasonable) find the kickstarter early on (especially people who use kicktraq to browse projects as they come up) read the pitch and either back or not and they will not keep coming back to see if it's changed - they are busy looking at new projects coming up.

Yep that's one of the reasons they started so badly and why we grilled and flamed them for two weeks before actually endorsing JA:F. It was not that we didn't love the idea, but the first part of the KS was abysmally bad.

Oh well, water under the bridge now...
