Hi all,

I played in the good ol' days JA until my school marks went to a level that my parents felt they have to intervene Smile

Now, for a reason not known, I thought about JA1 a few days ago and began search on the Internet.

So now I got my old disks from parents attick, got dosbox working on my Imac, and I should be ready Smile

Will be coming back with loads of questions for my re-run, I am sure.

Welcome to Bear's Pit.

Ask away, but don't be mad if it takes a while to get an answer. People are more into newer games these days.

And there's a very talented group of russian modders here who remade the JA1 story on the JA2 engine, btw. You can find them in JA 2/1 Metavira forum:

Hi Shanga,

thanky for the welcome.

What would I need to play JA1 in JA2 ? (I think that is what you described, right ? )

I just finished finding the JA1 1_13 patch ... phew that was difficult to locate on the internet. ...

Well I think there's a manual with that mod explaining the installation. It's not a 1.13 mod, beware. You need JA2 Gold + the mod files for JA2/1 Metavira.

okay, thats two different things ...

a) the patch I found is for JA1, mainly to have the canteens refilled in the morning etc. ...

b) I will check in mums attick again, there should be a mint condition box with JA2:Gold ... then i will get the appropriate mod maybe to play in JA2 .

Generally , I remember to have liked JA1 better than JA2 ... thats why the JA2 box is almost in mint condition Smile

Hi,

played the first day Smile So cool to re-visit this game...

One question though: is it possible to quick save during battle ? I cant remember if it was.

My version is 1.12 (when pressing "v" this is displayed)

Looking forward to your replies,
C_Bones

Are you asking this for JA or JA2? In the latter you can save during battle unless you chose iron man mode.

IIRC you can press alt-x to quit. While quitting the game asks you if you'd like to save game. This little glitch(feature?) enables saving your game in combat. I know it's nowhere near a quicksave feature but it's a thing.
