As I've stated on the KS page, there are perfectly valid ways to spread the word about JA:F without spamming, begging for media attention or selling organs to pay for ads.

1. Get your FB contacts to "Share" (Like is nice, but Share does the spreading) either the official updates from FC or funny memes with a bit of info attached to them and backlink to KS page (we'll try to provide as many memes as we can here).

2. Scout around for non-mainstream, local gaming news outlets (forums, blogs, anything related to strategy gaming) and submit a short update/comment for them to carry. Again, with a backlink to KS page (that's the most important thing).

It's essential that you do not go and paste the entire KS page there (sorry to who made the forum templates, but it's true). Nobody likes walls of text. Just pick a phrase from the official updates, something either about Chris Camfield or modding or anything else you think might interest people and post that. Make sure you either "quote" it or you re-write it to sound first person (it would be stupid to paste something that starts with "We here at FC..." but it's written in your name).

Feel free to brag below about the targets you achieved.

Reddit has several communities that might be interested in hearing about new, informative interviews, or even better, videos of gameplay or concept art. On Reddit, content is key, since visibility is from being upvoted by other users.

The largest community is /gaming and next is /games. /linuxgaming and /macgaming have smaller but passionate userbases. /tbs and /rpg_gamers for the genre crowd. /indiegaming and /kickstarter for the dev crowd.

Tips for using Reddit: Titles really matter. They are the only description users get to see, so it needs to be succinct and informative. "Original Jagged Alliance 2 dev joins kickstarter prequel team" or "Space Hulk devs kickstarting new turn based Jagged Alliance" are some examples. Interviews should be titled with interesting quotes, like "Jagged Alliance dev: 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'".

Remember not to spam, though. The post has to be relevant to the subreddit's themes/topics.

Another potential community to reach out to is Slashdot.

I made the Reddit post of Update #12 with the Chris Camfield and modders news on /r/gaming. Got some upvotes. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1dv68h/half_way_through_slow_kickstarter_campaign_ja/

Are you studying computer science stuff like that?

Print a DIN-A4 paper (or design a flyer) about this campaign and kickstarter and make it so, that people can pull tiny pieces with the url off your paper. Use some big pictures of the campaign at top to work as an eyecatcher. No one at your university expects this and will look at it. The nerds for sure. Every new backer is worth more backers, as he has friends and friends of his friends.

Anyone good in flyer design? Should have the logo and pictures on it, nice fonts and short explanation:
What is the campaign for?
What is kickstarter?

Is this desperate? It is hard to attract people that are not aware of kickstarter and of games and their news channels anymore.

As I'm unfamiliar with internet memes and stuff, the only way I could contribute is, nonsurprisingly, by a new feature I have in store:

http://i40.tinypic.com/334og1e.jpg

Originally planned for sth else, this allows to specify a 'pool' from which the enemy can draw its soldiers (militia would also be possible). We can specify
  • name and colour
  • hair, skin, shirts, pants
  • traits
  • gear
in a neat xml. We could use that for the KS, say: if KS gets funded, every donator gets an entry into this. Low pledges get admin slots, high pledges become elites, and so on.

Let me know if interest exists, then I can merge this into the trunk.

And btw.: I will NOT be the one to add >3k entries to the xml. You do that, if interested.

Whoa! This is an EPIC idea! It's so damn good, i think it's fit for tomorrows KS update! Hear that @JAFTeam?

But >3k will make for a HUGE xml file. Maybe pick a certain minimum tier for this? Actually if all the 3500 backers would've pledge $100, KS would be funded.

So I'd say we should aim start from $100+ pledges for admins, $200+ for redshits and $1000+ for elites.

Good job, I upvoted too. Problem with /r/gaming is that its such high turnover and such a high bar to be on the front page of the subreddit. I usually post to /r/games, but that subreddit has a rule against direct links to kickstarter, so one should link to media, press etc there.

Great news. Last night I've pitched JA:F on Romania's biggest gaming website (computergames.ro). Just a topic on their forums with a hint to the editors that a word on their main page would help the KS a lot. Guess what I've found today?

Spread the word.

I found a blog in Germany about internet deals which is huge there... the article becomes hot, if you vote for it (+ sign).

1) People do not read the text! We need more pictures, video, visual representation.

2) Ask Brian Fargo and Chris Avellone to advertise "JA: F" in exchange for % of sales. Only 6 days left!
Or "Full Control" can ask for help in exchange for theirs help in developing / testing "Wasteland 2", "Torment: Tides of Numenera", "Project Eternity".
