Bug reports
Post bugs in here if you suspect that the error is specific to this mod. Non-bug related feedback belongs to TODO.

First one by me, so you don't have to (Smile):
1. Bolt and plasma projectiles in Drassen maps seem way odd, as if the were fired a whole floor above the shooter. Using old exes, this problem seems to have existed for a long time, perhaps even since vanilla. So it's not my fault Wink. No idea how to fix it though.

Hmmm, installed it, and all the AIM folks look the same and have their same weapons. Made an IMP and he had the same gear as usual

CDT after my IMPs landed in Omerta, right after the chopper sequence ends.

I tried it again, hired only barry, CDT again.

I got the german vanilla version, the latest SCI from the trunk and installed it following the description.


I reinstalled everything, still doenst work.

Got a error log at beginning, this is what the game_log.txt says:

@BrotherJayne: Hmm. perhaps I should have stated that more clearly. As I don't feel like adding a metric crapton of new guns (and lack the pics for them anyway), the standard guns stayed in. Same for new mercs, merc dialogues, or new bios. This is pretty much 1.13 + new stuff, instead of new stuff instead of 1.13.
But you were able to make new choices in the IMP creation, like new traits etc., right?

@Yaguar: Hmm. You did use the right exe? This is odd. hmmm.

3 exe's in root folder , JA2 WH40K , JA2 ,and JA2 6116 UB .

None showing in INI editor , can only be started from root folder .

Edit : extra traits available , psyker , vox operatop and many background choices . Obviously the start kits are as intended , still CTD's .

I believe everyone with that problem should:
1) find out who makes the ini Editor
2) complain to that guy

I get that from time to time in my thread and I have no idea how that thing choses he exes it displays.

Hmmmmm. Just for testing, I literally followed my own desription, reinstalled, and it works... this is odd.

hmm. Can't reproduce the crash... in case you created IMPs, can you send me their .dat2-files (from Profiles/UserProfile_WH40K)? An if not, whom did you hire?

Anyway... as soon as SVN works again, I'll update the release - found a few minor bugs and will update champions, so one has a better chance of getting shiny new guns. Plus it'll support the newest DG mercs.

In the meantime, I'd advise setting
; Force all enemies to be cultists
WH40K_CULTIST_FORCE_ALL           = FALSE

; Forces all enemies (that are cultists) to be champions
WH40K_CULTIST_FORCE_ALL_CHAMPIONS = FALSE

WH40K_CHAMPION_REQUIRED_NUMBEROFTROOPS  = 8
in Wh40K.ini - the previous settings were testsetting that caused every enemy to be a champion, which is a bit hardcore.

@flug: I use the JA2_WH40K_r6137 .exe since the ini Editor doesnt work due to missing executables.

Somebody got it working yet?

I changed the landing point via .INI to A11, but got still the same CDT. Maybe if somebody could send me a savegame where at least one merc is already in the sector, then I could check if the chopper sequence is the problem.

2 savegames here
First one is before landing, second one after landing.

I have no idea how the ini editor decides to list an exe or not. I don't even know if anyone on this forum knows.

You could upload a pic to http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload and then embed them here with address.

The error you got... it tells you it cannot read Enemychampions.xml, which is exclusive to this mod. Did you
  • Edit that file?
  • use the xml editor?
  • moved stuff around?

no, no, no. Only changed the landing point for the mercs.
Am I the only one who cant get it to work?


I got it. The .savs work perfectly. Landing and after landing, both work. Thanks!

Hmm. That is odd. Please check the following:
  • apparently it does not read your /Data-WH40K/Wh40K.ini. Does that file exist there?
  • In your JA2.ini, is VFS_CONFIG_INI set to vfs_config.JA2WH40K.ini?
  • just to make sure... back up EnemyChampions.xml in /Data-WH40K/TableData, and replace its data with this:

Grml... what happens if you load the first savegame from before landing and then hire someone before you land? What happens if you create an IMP?

Sorry for being tedious, but I have absolutely no clue on what is going wrong.

this is so strange... I made a IMP on the .sav-file, and it worked fine. But when I start a game myself, it crashes...

The error messages in the background of your pic indicated that some files are not read (and thus cannot be found). But if you didn't change anything, that shouldn't happen. How did you get the game to start again?

That was because I forgot to change the mod at the .ini editor back to wh40k (I had it a 1.13 because I wanted to test if 1.13 would crash aswell). When I changed it back to wh40k, it worked.

I will release a new version soon (hopefully tonight). Playing a campaign is the best way to find errors. I still have no idea why it crashes in the beginning for people though. The savegames were meant as a way to see why, not as a general start option.

New version for new SCI is out, which fixes more bugs than I feared existed^^

Please test wether that irritating startup issue persists.

Still doesn't work for me. Installed as instructed, no option/ini/xml changed. Started game and at the insertion; black screen then a windows error pops up saying "Unhandled exception. Unable to recover."

I have Visual Studio 2010 express and your wh40k source code from SVN but absolutely have no idea how to start with debugger. If you can help me with it i can make a better bug report. Also if you have any experimental executables i'd be happy to be your guinea pig.

In VS 2010,open Properties of ja2. Set Configuration = All Configurations.
Under configuration properties->General, set Output directory to the directory you installed the game.
Under configuration properties->Debugging, set Working directory to the directory you installed the game.
Select Debug build.
Build debug exe.
Rightclick on ja2 ->Debug->Start new instance.

If you somehow crash without knowing why, you can add more exceptions under Debug->Exceptions. Note that at game start the game will always throw 2 errors with vfs, that's normal (but irrritatin).

Sorry for the late reply but i shall be damned;

Game works fine with debug exe, crashes with release exe. Tried a couple of times, recompiled a couple of times but outcome is always the same.

new relase work nice,but i dont have any w40k items in game[only ja2 1.13 standart items are present at br shop] ... there so much triwires & m118 claymores at boby rays shop..
