Got it sorted last night, thanks to everyone for the help.
ive not got skyrider found yet , so cannot try it , but i succsesfully got the new version, (mine was 4,000 and something)

Adding firing on the helicopter will take some time to implement. In the meantime, as of r6651, mercs without the 'airdrop' background property will receive a -8 modificator on their interrupt value during their first turn. This roughly equates to -12 to their effective level as far as that calculation goes. Or -240 AGI, if anyone is interested in meaningless numbers.
sometimes only 5 mercs are dropped in selected region then infinite clock unless you press escape button and your merc will be dropped far away in opposite part of map.
Other times - helicopter flies, time goes but nothing happens and again press Escape button - mercs will be far away from selected location.
I tried many times on Tixa prison rooftops, clean ground with results above.
Is it bug or I did something wrong?

with new 6688 works fine (successfully landed in Grumm sector), will test Tixa later, cause I already captured it

Hmm. Cannot reproduce that error with r6688. It guess it will be related to entrypoints - we can only place our mercs on entrypoints, which I generate for each map whenever we drop via helicopter (10K of them). Perhaps increasing that number will help if this an be reproduced somehow.
The 'helicopter sound still plays after loading' has nothing to do with this. Its an ancient vanilla bug, unsure how to fix that.
As or r7755, depending on which direction the helicopter came from, a different animation will play when performing a heli insertion. Here seen by the west (which seems like northwest, but that is internally known as west, because none of your business).
This is, of course, pure eye candy. Given correct sti files, I could have the helicopter fly in circles, turn this- or that way. Anything really. I can play a movie if someone provides me with a movie in .sti form.
Requires GameDir >= r2212, as new .sti files were added.
