Coming from a man who hated AC series: Blag Flag is one of the best games I've played in a decade. It's like Mass Effect 2. Or like the first Dragon Age. It's... epic.

First, don't let all the crap talk about them not caring for the PC optimization. My rig is years old and this baby looks superb and runs smoother than anything I've played lately. And I mean full blown battle effects with dynamic smoke, storms, water translucency and everything you'd ever imagine in a game about pirates and ship combat. And it never drops a frame.

Second, if you love imagining sailing a pirate ship in the sunset while listening to an old sailor tune... you'll never get a better chance. The soundtrack is superb from one end to the other.

Third, there are minor traces of it being a console port (a time or two you might find yourself with a weird camera) but as far as controls go, I've never seen an action game on PC so easy to control. Maybe even too damn easy.

So... it has amazing ship to ship combat and capture, stealth battles, pirating, drinking and (sadly no) whoring. To me, honestly, the whole AC storyline was more of a bother then anything else. If they had no storyline and just left me sail around the Carribean sea I would've been perfectly happy. But for the most part you can ignore, replay and go back to any point in the story with a quite cool storyline save system that allows you to jump back to any point in time without losing any gained upgrades.

True, sometimes your character grabs hold of stuff and tries acrobatics when all you want him to do is sprint away and jump. But the whole death system is so relaxed it's no problem. It's more of a contest of thinking how you can make him perform more spectacular kills than a frustration on "God I missed that kill and I have wasted 3 hours of gameplay". As you said, perfect day for a chilling -12 Celsius day.
