Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you to all the fine modders that made this possible.

After a 12-year JA2 hiatus, I've recently picked up JA2 on GoG again. Naturally, I went straight to google to see what the fine modding community has produced and voila here I am. Very Happy

The problem that I have is as follows:

It seems that enemies don't shoot at me, if they're not in range. They try to get closer, but more often than not, they just run in circles or just stare at my mercs from afar, eagerly awaiting their demise. While I don't have a problem with that per se, it seems to make the game a tad easy. I'm not even sure if this a bug or a feature. It's not that they don't fight- they will- but seemingly only if they are close enough for their weapons to be most effective. It's like they're thinking: "Look at that fool with his tiny .38 revolver on the other side of the map, he's never going to hit m.... arggh"

Example: Not knowing what this mod would throw at me, I used the same strategy I've used forever and went straight to liberate Drassen. All went well, but then I got the notice that the airport was reconquered. No problem I thought, I go back, only to find like 20-25 enemies. I know that I would have lost this encounter almost every time in the past, but this time I was able to kill them all, just by crouching in the woods in the south and waiting for them. When they came, they didn't dare cross the road or hid behind cover, but not once did anyone of them ever fire a shot at me in the whole mission, while I was picking them apart with some 9mm pistols.

I'm using the english GoG version of JA2 (not installed in c:/program files), the 4870 build of v1.13 and the update for it, both found on this page: http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/w/page/4218345/Installation

I've extracted both archives in a temporary location and copied both folders in order over a virgin installation.

Difficulty level is intermediary (the 2nd option) and all mod features are turned on in the starting screen.

Is there something I've missed or installed inproperly? Or is it maybe the difficulty level? I was watching some video footage of this mod on YT, which didn't seem to have this problem, so I'm sure the fault is somewhere on my end.

It happens sometimes unfortunately.
Two way to enhance enemy behaviors and avoid that as much as possible :
- increase MAX_EFFECTIVE_RANGE_MULTIPLIER (default is 1.1, try 2) in the CTHConstant
- increase Base sight range in the ini (very effective, however have side effects. I recommend 16 but no more).
Be careful about the DCA if you are new to 1.13, better to disable it IMO.
