Most of us are used to the IMP voicesets by now. Having different ones would be good. Having ones that aren't so bland would be better. Having this voice would be awesome.

As the voice actress is the same in Mass Effect 1-3, there are hours of dialogue one could use. I assume some way of extracting the voices would be possible, and we do know for what we need voicebits (just listen to the IMP voices, and replace each file with a fitting one).

So... would someone be interested in creating a Femshep voiceset? I am unfamiliar with voice editing, but someone here must be Wink

If i get some free time i'll try it. I also have plans for a set with my voice but my current mic is pretty bad, too much white noise. And on the top of that i don't know what to say, everything i says seems like a blatant copy of other voices. I wish i had some sort of script.

if anyone else is interested, there is a sound guide in the spoiler

If you (or someone else) implements that, I'm going to add the ability for female bodytypes to slap other people.

And a 'news reporter' background. Wink

Shepard.

Wrex.

Shep- *SLAP*

Also, slightly relevant. Blood 2 comes with way more high quality clips.

I have no ideal how to do voice editing, but someone can specify which sections of the voice track they want (x start secs, y end secs) and I can cut it into chunks...

I'd be willing to make such a set for you, but I don't have Mass Effect, so I'll download it and compile a set for you tommorow, It's too late (2:00AM) for me to start another voice pack.

But I do have this to hold you over for now, It's kinda crappy, mostly just direct rips from TeamFortress 2, The DemoMan.

So now you can play as a drunken one-eyed black Scotsman.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zgwsr59512iy5l3/DemoIMP.7z

(It replaces the Russian #192 voice pack that was added recently, as I don't speak russian I prefer to use the Teamfortress voices.)

You've done enough to improve the game Flugente, that I'm willing to work for ya Razz

Say I get a .zip file with a bunch of .wav files or something similar. Would you be able to compile that into an IMP voice set?

Any specific file types or settings you'd prefer?

Not in a forseeable future but if you have wav files that's the 99% of the work. Have a look at spoiler in my previous post.Naming conventions goes like this;

XXX_YYY.wav

where XXX is mercs id(uiIndex) from MercProfiles.xml, YYY is event tied to this speech as seen in spoiler from previous post

For example Ivan's id is 7 when he's out of ammo he uses the 13rd line that makes 007_013.wav Ivan's out of ammo sound. Then you should put this files in in speech folder in your profile folder ie Data-1.13\Speech

I believe game only accepts wav files but i remember sth about ogg support, probably i'm wrong tho.

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.
[/youtube]
I've extracted the Sound files from ME 2 & 3. Couldn't find an extractor for ME1. ME3 is a mess, as the .wavs are no longer sorted, which means you have to listen to every single one of them in order to find out who speaks... yeah, I've spend several features worth of time on this.

I started creating an IMP voiceset, and then went full merc. By extracting this file over your installation, Shepard can be recruited on the AIM website.

  • This works on both stable 2014 and unstable releases. Requires a new game though methinks.
  • Of course this wont go into any trunk, as she's not part of the JA lore.
  • Edit traits and background to fit her to your playstyle - I prefer Renegade. A separate Paragon background is in the provided xml. I tried fitting the gearkits to the different classes too.
  • I'm using IMP face 214 here, as I suck at drawing.
  • Male Shepard is also possible (after all, outside of romances and a few gender-specific things they have the same lines). But I vastly prefer this voice.
  • Luckily, some names in ME are also in JA2 - Shepard likes Kelly, will learn to love Mouse, is annoyed by Conrad :uhh: and utterly hates Reaper :blackcat: . Also, we nowadays have an organisation called Kerberus ingame... hu. What a coincidence. shy
  • If you want an IMP, you just have to alter a few xmls (and perhaps replace a few soundbits - e.g. 055 is used for the Omerta landing dialogue on IMPs and the 'See Mike' dialogue for AIM mercs).
I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite forum on the Internet

Just paste the contents of the .7z I've linked to over your install.

As SDO does not alter/add any mercs (at least I don't think so) there should be no issues at all. In case the stock items have been altered in SDO, you might have to alter the Data-1.13/TableData/Inventory/MercStartingGear.xml provided.

What I've said for SDO is also valid for AR - copy the archive's content over your install and you should be ready to go. As both mods afaik don't alter mercs, you'll only have to alter MercStartingGear.xml.

@Slax: Is that a report that you cannot access the file I've linked, or just a spontaneous outburst of joy? Smile

@Sargeno is you overwrite mercprofiles.xml in AR mod, you'll need to change sector data for Pablo, Maddog and maybe Manuel.

Wow! Thanks Flugente! I was researching how to add characters to v1.13 and found this thread. I downloaded Shepard, and customized her for Arulco Vacations, which schooled me in how to add a character to v1.13! Instead of painful days or weeks of trial and error that one RPC package taught me what I needed to know in less time than it took to eat dinner! Cool beans, yo! You rock!

As it is very recent, yes. A few xmls have gotten new entries since (Backgrounds.xml), but it will still run.
I am not aware of other new standalone mercs. It would be possible to extract mod-specific mercs from mods, but that requires a bit of work.

Good noose! Thanks to DepressivesBrot's google skills and my willingness to put an eye-watering amount of time into this, I now have access to all sounds from all 3 games... and listened to ALL of them. I have thus added a lot more dialogues, and improved exiting ones. In addition I corrected an error in the profile that could cause the face to glitch during talking.

You can get Femshep V1.1 here.

Shepard is now the first merc ever to make full use of all buddy/hate slots - she has 6 buddies, and hates 6 others. This will no doubt make team building more fun (imagine if that were the case for every merc!). Her buddies are:

  • Len (Anderson) is a distinguished veteran and a highly professional squadleader. It's reasonable to believe those two have crossed passed paths before, and will work well together.
  • Kelly is another experienced veteran. Shepard seems to appreciate him... perhaps even more than just from a professional standpoint (somewhat amusing if you've played ME2, where yeoman Kelly Chambers is a comic relief character. Apart from the bit where she gets liquified alive, or commits suicide-by-terrorist if tell her you hate her. Renegade 4ever!!!).
  • While she prefers direct confrontations, Shepard is okay with subterfuge... if the spy doing it is competent, like Mouse. She will even reference Mouse's spy skills directly. Mouse' hatred of Fox will even rub off on Shepard, as she learns to hate Fox.
  • Major Spike Scallion is another highly competent veteran that worked with Shepard on some (classified) missions.
  • The lieutnant (Stogie) is an accomplished warrior who's always in the thick of the fighting, just like the Commander. They work well together, but that's purely professional, as she will tell you yourself.
  • Scully (James) might be a sleazebag, but he's a highly competent sleazebag. Shepard is willing to work everybody as long as they are capable and willing to fulfill the mission, no matter what. Apart from Reaper, that guy can die in a fire.
On her hated list are:
  • Conrad is not only a overrated showoff full of himself, he also trained the enemy... and was willing to abandon them as soon as your team came knocking. Someone like that cannot be trusted.
  • Her hatred of Reaper is probably only rivaled my Buzz's opinion of Lynx.
  • Skitz is a deranged, insubordinate drug addict. Shepard is... not a fan.
  • Jack (Postie) had a breakdown when working at the post office. How can you trust him to keep your back in a warzone?
  • Shepard made the shaman's (Wahan) acquaintance before (perhaps she was also in Metavira, in some top-secret operation?). She is wary of his whole 'mystical' business, and will warn you about his methods.
  • While initially friendly to Fox, Shepard will grow increasingly hostile to the paramedic, as she considers her to be less than capable on the field. Perhaps Fox' attention-grabbing demeanour also factors in to this?

Mercs that would have also been possible, but didn't make it due to not exactly fitting lines and not enough slots:
  • Williams (Ice), surprisingly. Would have worked splendid if he was a woman.
  • Jenkins (Leech)
  • Grace
  • Captain (Bob)
  • Steve (Grizzly)

If someone were willing to cut/paste and generally edit soundfiles, those would be possible to, but I have enough of wading through thousands of .ogg files for now.

As it is unlikely anyone hires Shepard to have her sit down and repair items, I've replaced the Engineer gear kit with Adept. As we don't exactly have gravity-altering skills, she instead gets a huge amount of stun grenades (hand and 40mm) that allow to keep entire squads pinned down. The new drugs are also used in the gear kits.

This has been built for r7910 & GameDir r2259, but will also work with older or newer releases. At worst you will have to adapt a the xmls that come with this.

As I've been asked this before: If one wants another full voiceset from these games, your best start would the male Shepard, as he has the same lines (apart from romance and woman power! options). Perhaps Garrus and Liara (would require also stripping the Shadow Broker DLC) would also work. Tali's voice would require a good justification, and Ash and Kaiden are absent in ME2.

The newest version (which is all you'll ever need) is now on kermi's ftp: http://kermi.pp.fi/JA_2/Mods_v1.13/Flugente/Additional_Mercs/

As there is now a newer version with even more mercs, this thread is now closed.
