My build : JA 2 1.13 4870 Expert, NTCH, Base sight range 16
I play iron man and i do very well now IMO.
However i have no idea how to deal with the mortar.
I destroys me and the cover i'm behind, without any chance to do anything (at least in iron man without knowing if there is any or where).
Most of the time i just don't see it
Is it so dangerous in vanilla ?
Do you manage it without save/reloading ?
Thanks.

DepressivesBrotDon't present viable targets, ideally get overhead cover and don't form blobs of mercs.
I guess it is the thing to do.
However I met enemies with mortar in wilderness map where having an overhead cover or militia is impossible.
Moreover i allowed reinforcement and a greater number of enemies on the map.
Sometimes not forming a blob seems very hard to me when enemies start rushing and the cover is limited.
I might said that i have greatly reduce the bonus of scope (25% vision bonus/2.5 magnification bonus instead of 90%/10 for the scope x10) so i can't snipe as easily as in vanilla 1.13 and sometimes can't have mercs spreading as much on the map despite having raise base vision range to 16 instead of 13.
In almost each battle i suffer several injuries.
But in vanilla do the enemies carry mortar quite early on ?
And generally was it so deadly than in 1.13 (i read that vanilla scope did not gave you big base vision bonus)
I never played vanilla but i should.
