I'm getting attacked by Kingpins assassins. They just run up to me and start shooting point blank. The only thing I can do is to try to click on them before they get to me so it will go to turn based mode. I'd rather just hit a key and go to turn based mode straight up.

You cannot force turn-based mode when there are no enemies in the sector. However you can click on the assassin with your crosshair and shoot him. No worries, your merc will use maximum number of aim clicks automatically so you should have a good chance to hit the assassin. At least it will make him go hostile... Wink

Last night my game blocked... Why... I don't know.
So I pressed on all the buttons... And maybe I pressed "CTRL + T" ('Forced Turn Based Mode).

Day 15:
I attack Balime with the militia in I-13 (cheat "GABBI" for my movements, Not for battle)...
My attacks...
Sectors: K-13, K-12, L-12, L-11 and L-10 (no problem).
My mercenaries are L-10...
Enemy attack in L-10 (or I attack the enemy in K-10)...

the german version has a lot of untranslated english texts, that is normal.

@fox for example having english texts: that is a bug and should be fixed by the next update.

Those are the original Tina soundbites. They were never used ingame. When adding merchants I stumbled upon them and decided to make Tina a merchant, because some of those fit. We can't alter the soundfiles anyway...

Just started getting this crash:

Happens every time I load my game back up.

I'm new here so I'm not sure if this is a new bug or not.

It's very frustrating since this has happened on all 4 of the new games I have stared, at different times along the campaign, on both the english and french version of 1.13. I'm not running any other mods on top of it.

Which directory are save games in if I need to upload one?

did you install ja2 in the default programfiles folder?
it should be installed in a new folder (eg: c:\games\ja2).
then apply the 1.13 patch and run the game (ja2.exe) as an administrator and see if that helps.

Sandy106, I have this exact same error, reported in:

I've attached a savegame for this in that thread.

It cannot be a write permission problem: I reuse my save game slots in a rotating manner, so I've reloaded this slot often enough (besides, I wasn't writing, but loading a savegame here). I've narrowed it down to all saves that are made in this battle (a quick save, the two end of turn saves and another save).

I have previously quit mid-battle before to continue on another day without problems.

I use JA2 GOG edition, plus the official 2014 release of 1.13 (and the two XML edits I mentioned in the other thread)

I'll try running it as an admin next time I play it, but before I quit for the night I experimented around a bit and it seems like it might potentially be related to using ctrl + the right or left arrow keys to change merc positions in a squad. Anytime I did that I got some weird error on the tac map where clicking one merc picks a different one. Saving and loading that file crashed it everytime.

I remember ctrl-arrowing in this particular battle! You may just be on to something here.

I also recall (after the ctrl-arrow) Blood throwing a knife, picking it up, but not seeing it in his inventory. I'm sure that it happened, but now, I cannot check it anymore because the game will not load.

Actually, I ctrl-arrowed myself. I don't think I saved my game after that though. I was just messing around with some key commands. I might have though. Could that have caused my issue as well?

TeeWee - thanks for your help. Your first post came as I was replying to the other person so I hadn't seen it until after I already posted. I thought this bug might have been occurring only when a sector was attacked, but it doesn't seem to matter after checking it out a little more.

Something else I've noticed, I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, is the French version is missing thermometric grenades.

@ Bug reporters
If you wish for a higher chance of bugfixes like hrvg's/Grim's/Nav's, post the savegame (ideally, just before the bug occurs) together with your detailed bug description.

Or else you will be smacked by your mommy 'singing' & 'listening' to the lullaby of a miami customer service hotline, while your game lies in mambo limbo.
(actually no harm loading from an older savegame and pray that it will not happen. E.g. a gameday earlier for strategic bugs; as for tactical bugs, u know e drill)

Terminated the little pest in dev revision 7534 (stable 7535).
Stupid key ring data was garbled when mercs were switched which didn't work well with the externalized key feature...

7435 with AR ( Strohmann's adaption ) windows 8

All the items dissapear from 'unequipped'/dropped LBE.

The Save


Edit: The save missed the bug unfortunaly, but it contain a LBE hit by it, don't know if that does anything at all. Have encountered it earlier, so it might come back.

Edit2: Got it in H3! Save . If LBEs are droppet, the load dissapear.

Is it caused by some item limit thing?

Hello there!

Good work so far, but I found 2 bugs.

1) You cannot win the third boxing fight.
The game always hangs at the end of the fight.

2) You cannot fill canteens.

Howdy people

I've got really persisting problem here, no matter how i approach to battle, AI always gets stuck and whole game refuse to do anything. AI gets stuck at the very begining of its turn or like 20 % of its progress.Waiting does not help,did wait once like 6 minutes and no progress has been made.Also i have "dead_lock_delay" set on 25 and it doesn't help.

Cannot refill canteens in any sector in localized russian version.

Seems that the problem is in localized russian.sectornames.xml that is read instead of default sectornames.xml.
Localized version does not have any additional tags like
    2
    300

so they are probably set to zero instead of just taking name-related tags from localized version and the rest from default english version.

Tested with actual stable gamedir/source from svn.

I don't know if it's a JA2 bug or 1.13 bug. Any time Mary can't give me the money after escorting her and John to the airport, the game just hangs. It's usually if you are too far away from her. She'll walk a ways, then put it on the ground and the game hangs. Once she and John were in the crouch position holding their heads like in a fight, she didn't get up to give me the money and it just hung there.

I keep getting some issue with my mouse cursor being invisible. I think it's some out of game setting. It's happened before, but it's happening again and I can't remember how I fixed it the first time.

It works fine in windowed mode, but in full screen it's invisible.

EDIT: Reinstalled video drivers and that did it. Should be an easier thing to do though.

Today I had come back to JA2 after many years. Installed 1.13 v.7435 , ran the game and dumb with surprise - my mercenaries are walking backwards from time to time XD What is happening ? Is that normal ? I might add that walking backwards occur in parallel with no working any shortcut keys and I can change mercenary nohow. I've got the impression some heavy bug. Am I right?

Usually this means you Alt-Tabbed and it still sees the ALT key as pressed.

often simply pressing the ALT key clears it.
