Post bugs from the 2014 Stable Official 1.13 release (7435) with 7609 Update in this thread.

A good bug report is straight to the point:
Quote:
1. Bug Description

2. Detailed steps to reproduce the bug
(If it's a graphical glitch, screenshots will do. Error messages are NOT graphical glitches)

3. If bug cannot be easily reproduced on a new game, upload the savegame to a file hoster.
(best case scenario to be just before bug occurs; customized Ja2_Options.INI as well if savegame cannot be loaded with default Ja2_Options.INI)

4. Any mods & its version running on top of 1.13?
(Mod-related bugs should be reported in the relevant mods thread first as they will be read over there as well.)

Coders/Modders need to be able to reproduce the bug on their side before they can do something about it.

FAQ
Where is the savegame location?
Quickest way - hover your mouse on the bugged savegame slot and then do a filename search within JA2 directory.
(Look at the folder path if you have multiple identical filenames)

Why is it labeled as 'Stable' when it does not seem so?
Only with bug reporters' help does the game becomes more stable/bug-free.
(Coders/Modders can only do a limited set amount of testing before release. In other words, they can't possibly cover all angles. On a side note, on and off they still bump into vanilla bugs)

If you are referring to the fuzziness, check your graphic card's control center for morphological filtering (or similar post processing effect) and disable it.

Hi, ZrzekCharvos, welcome to the pit!

That is an obvious sign of a mismatch between the maps you use and the sti image libraries you have. As those are not vanilla maps, check wether you missed some files from wherever you got those maps.

1.13 is based on JA (Gold/1.12), Wildfire is for all intents and purposes a different game (read mod).

Hi. I am new to this forum Wink I hope that your problem moving in the right topic Wink

For several days I play in the latest modification and I have the following problem. While I play I get this error "Debug Stauctures page 1 of 1 Building 0"

Very cool this modification, but for this error, unfortunately, it is impossible to continue the game.

Hi Wigen_25PL, welcome to the pit!

This is not a bug - that happens when one presses a certain key combination and starts some sort of special debug mode. I don't know the exact combination though, we have to many.

Whatever you pressed to get that, just don't press that Wink

I think you entered the cheat mode (GABBY) and then pressed "Q".
You can disable it by pressing "Q" a few times in cheat mode.

Jagged Alliance 2 Gold + "Current official Release Version: Build: 7435, 28 August 2014" (English version)

I have this problem with the English and French version:
I bought "Small drop" at Bobby Ray...
"Small drop" arrived at the airport of Drassen...

I'm experiencing some freezing.

Windows 8.1, 7435, no mods, copied the files from the compatibility folder and followed the other instructions tbere.

save + ini

I play Iron Man so I can't provide a save from just before, but attack the Drassen mine and in a couple of turns it freezes.

I also edit the GunChoices_Enemy XML's, do you need those too?

I think the whole freeze thing, or FPS drop to like 0 (because imo this is how it should be called) is happening because of windows 8 / 8.1

When i played older versions of JA2 1.13 in XP and 7 i didnt experience this. But as soon as i started playing JA2 on windows 8 / 8.1 machine they started to happen.

They happen all the time, sometimes i can play an hour without them (FPS drops) sometimes i have several in a span of 5 minutes. They happen during combat, during browsing sector inventory, during saving or even in main menu.

When they happen all graphics stop. Nothing changes. Music still plays and game is running (allocated resources change and task manager does not mark game as unresponsive). Very rarely game will recover but almost 99% of the time i have to force quit game (kill from task manager). Sometimes when game is unresponsive im able to use quick save (i can hear sound after pressing button combination).

There are also symptoms to FPS drops. For example you want to fast forward time but time is not changing. Or you want to move merc but movement path is not showing up. When i see it i know that within next 2-3 clicks FPS will drop to 0 and ill be unable to play.

Yes i did, ddraw.dll, libwine.dll and wined3d.dll in game directory and disabled intro play (without that game wouldnt even run) and running ja2.exe in Win XP SP3 compatibility mode, running as administrator and limited colors to 16bit

Its only slightly annoying, thanks to backup saves (every turn end and every 12 hours) there is minimal progress lost with every FPS drop event.

Another way to fix win8 issues is described here - ja2.su (russian forum), see post# 13

It was reported that it helps to solve problems with 1.13 when everything else failed.

There is something REALLY off with the Ice Cream truck. Using stable r7462 and GameDir r2132, the truck is invisible. As in, he blocks tiles but cannot be seen or interacted with. If I hardcode him to be visible (bVisible = 2), then I can see him and enter him.

This bug is not present in the current unstable. Using the unstable exe on the stable GameDir also works, so the error must be somewhere in the stable exe itself.

A polish user (new) has reported an even weirder behaviour. In his savegames (http://przeklej.org/file/DteIog/odd.ice.cream.rar), the truck is a civilian. Which can be entered. And walk around. Leaving the abomination crashes the game.

Could it be that some parts of the 'drive vehicles around' feature have entered the stable code?

@ice cream truck: I have never heard of this bug.
so is it simple reproduceable if I start a new game and teleport to the sector where hamous stays?

there should not be any new vehicle code in stable release. I think we have to step back a few revisions in code to see which change caused the bug...

I have windows XP. Service pack 3.
For "during a fight" (English and French version, same bug) I have this:

But...
If I press ENTER... My mercenaries are prisoners.
If I press on ESC... My game continues.

Ira fires on the enemies (a bullet)... The bug appears.
It's my best savegame before the bug. The bug does not arrive every time. It is necessary to reload savegame. (It's not 100%).

No, what is that supposed to do? I also can't see the enemy's equipment when I hold ALT. Oh, and how do I turn off the lights on my mercs? I turned off the light when they move, but when they stop, it's lit up. It used to be G, but now that toggles formation.

Insert opens the minimap, allowing you to see the general area of the last enemy.

How far away are you when you're trying to see the enemys equipment?

Within shooting distance, 20-30 gun range I'd say.

Not really a bug, but I'm having full reinforced zones getting attacked very often, sometimes with as little as 3 enemies. It's definitely increased from previous versions. Is there a way to change that, or make them smarter?

EDIT: Right after I posted this, they gave up. Must be those dark blue militia.

Game does not read STARTING_CASH_NOVICE, STARTING_CASH_EXPERIENCED, STARTING_CASH_EXPERT STARTING_CASH_INSANE from Ja2_Options, it takes all other options (tested with arrival time and A.I.M availability) but not starting cash :/.

Im running r.7476 with wildfire 6.07 maps.
To check that my game does not read Ja2_Options from other folders than the folder that ive instaled r.7476 i have changed starting cash in EVERY SINGLE Ja2_Options file that i colud find on my hard drive and it still uses defalut values(in game).

For test porpuses Ive set STARTING_CASH_NOVICE to an unacceptable value, this is the result:

It sais that game will use 2000 but guess what it STILL uses defalut value of 45000 that i cannot change :/.

Other than that game runs great.

First off, this is a bug with an unstable relase, not the '14 stable, so this post and all following posts should be moved to the right place. This issue does NOT happen in the '14 stable release.

Now, to the issue at hand. You, dear sir, are right to be confused. Very recently, a separate method to define game difficulty was added. Some values that were in JA2_Options.ini were moved to TableData/Data-1.13/DifficultySettings.xml. Here you can set those values, and add more difficulty levels (although doing so will crash your game, because apparently we don't test what we commit, so just don't). The starting cash bits in the ini are just relics - the game will read them, complain if you give bad ones, but never use them anyway.

Should you feel very confused by this right now, don't worry, you have every right to. This change was not publicly announced, so you have no chance of knowing unless you read our SVN logs daily :whythis: . Just edit the DifficultySettings.xml and wonder :dontknow2:
